When you set out to discover Jamaica, Montego Bay, a bustling hub of activity, earns its reputation for being the “tourism capital” with its lively street markets, road side food vendors and beaches aimed more for action-packed water activities than for lazing on a hammock in the sun. Considered Jamaica’s most famous water attraction and greatest natural treasure, Dunn's River Falls is a combination of waterfalls, freshwater pools and incredible views. It's a “must see” in Ocho Rios. It's a popular tourist spot, so keep in mind, that it can be busy. It's still a fun spot to visit, though. One of the highlights is climbing up the falls! Make sure you have shoes on that can get wet. And, when you finish, you can hang out at the beach at the bottom of the waterfalls. You’ll probably work up an appetite, so be sure to stop in the beach restaurant or pack some snacks to enjoy on the beach.

Once you see the sugary white sands on this beach, you’ll understand why most of the Negril resorts are nestled along the Seven Mile Beach. Add translucent, turquoise waters and palm trees to this picture, and it’s easy to understand its reputation as the gem of the island.

The beach can be busy, and there might be some vendors along the shores, but you can also find a quiet spot to relax. The water is perfect for snorkeling, too. And it truly is clean, well-cared for and very serene. Spending the day basking in the sun on Seven Mile Beach won't be too shabby of a day for you. You'll for sure want to pay homage to reggae legend Bob Marley. This walking tour starts off in the town Nine Mile, where Marley spent his adolescent years. On this pilgrimage, you’ll travel through the countryside, peppered with dilapidated shacks and farms, ending your tour at Marley’s former home and the adjoining shanty where he is buried. Walking with other tourists and getting an inside scoop from the tour guide is a ton of fun. And, if you time your trip right, you can go to the annual celebration of Marley on his birthday, February 6. You'll be singing reggae in no time on this legendary trail!

You can’t go to Negril without visiting the most popular restaurant in Negril. In fact, this might be the most popular restaurant in Jamaica! Inspired by the bar in the movie Casablanca, it’s the place locals and visitors flock to, to take in the evening’s sunset, grab a cocktail and watch the cliff jumpers. If you haven't seen anyone jump off the cliffs, make sure you stick around long enough to see it happen. Hanging on the back deck at Rick's is the place to see all the action. And, you can always find fresh fish on the menu and any drink you can challenge the bartender to concoct. Mix all this with the funk of reggae music playing in the background, and you got yourself one happening spot to hang out while you're in Negril.

Without a doubt, Negril is one of the world’s best locations to watch the sunset. It's on the western tip of Jamaica and when the sun sets, it's like it falls off the sea. You'll want to make sure you grab your camera when you head out for the night. It's a photo op moment, for sure.

You might even want to book a sunset cruise, so you can experience this glorious sight from the sea! Drinks, dinner and a romantic setting to celebrate this vacation - yes, please! Watching the sunset from the beach, pool or patio at your resort will be just as spectacular, though. The brilliant colors will amaze you, so don't miss out on this sight!

Jamaica has a rich history of sugar plantations and if you can only visit one, then plan to see Rose Hall Great House. Considered the most popular plantation in Jamaica and one of the largest, the Rose Hall Great House even comes with the legend of being haunted by its former owner, Annie Palmer. Known for her “black magic” powers, Annie "did away with" three of her husbands and countless lovers. Your tour will take you through all the nooks and crannies of this plantation. And, at the end of your tour, enjoy a drink at Annie’s Pub located on the ground floor.

Tee it up at Cinnamon Hill Ocean Course at Rose Hall for the best golfing challenge in Jamaica. You’ll get to see panoramic views of the ocean, lush vegetation on Mount Zion and a cascading waterfall. Even if you don't play, you might want to check out this 400-acre beauty.

The course is set on an old sugar plantation with a winding, old aqueduct that used to grind sugarcane. When you look at it closely, you can see it's dated 1761. Not only is there so much history here, but you can also play a serious round of golf. Plus, the course is famous for its caddies, considered some of the best. If you need a little help with your game, then they can help you out!

Make sure you grab your camera for a photo op on hole #6 because the ocean view here is spectacular.

For over 100 years, Doctor's Cave Beach has been Montego Bay’s best beach spot. Considered the prettiest on this side of Jamaica, the white sands and crystal blue waters you'll find here are a great place for swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing. It's a busy place, with shops, beach bars, cyber cafes and more to keep the whole family entertained. But, it is well-maintained and clean and you'll love having the showers on-site when you finish up your day splashing around in the ocean. You can rent beach chairs and umbrellas to use for the day, which is a great way to make a central meeting spot for the family. With lots of activities along the beach, you'll really love spending the day here!
