    Memorable Stay

Beautiful space. I hope the employees are being paid well for being there 12 hours plus. All friendly, cordial and kind. Appreciate all staff from the security to room service delivery persons. She was very very sweet. I wish the bartenders were more friendly. Most look like they hated their job and were very dry. Men bartenders were more friendly than the women.

Awesome location, not the greatest food with the exceptions of Bluefin and Azul

The location is awesome! If you live Maho Beach and being right on the water it is beautiful! The water was gorgeous and seeing some turtles and iguanas was a cool experience. The food wasn’t very good except for at Azul and Bluefin. The others places it kind of tasted like it was a tv dinner. The staff overall were pretty friendly. I asked for non alcoholic and when they’d add alcohol I would correct them and they seemed really annoyed with me which was a bummer. But we had for the most part pretty nice workers and service. I felt like the rooms were good and the pools were really nice with amazing views!

Sonesta Ocean Point Resort Vacation with friends

The overall experience was wonderful. The food was great, the staff was great, pools were perfect—we did adult pools. Not overpacked and music on various days! A lot to do. Room service was a definite plus! Very quick and pizza was delicious! It took us a little bit to figure out the hot/cold water in the shower!

    Sonesta was fantastic!

Such a beautiful resort!!! The pool bar was so much fun! The casino surprisingly paid out. (Computer roulette) Service was incredible! Everyone on staff were so friendly especially Nicole and Maxima at the buffet. They were so wonderful and attentive. They recommended great places to go and things to do on the island! Can’t wait to go again!

    Exceeded expectations

Four of us, two couples, just returned from five nights at Ocean Point. We had a great time. When people say that it's close to the airport, they are not kidding. It is actually theoretically walkable. (The road isn't really walkable but it's that close.) We were checked in and at lunch within about 30 minutes of walking outside the airport. Initially, our swim-out rooms were not next to each other (our fault I think) but the hotel moved us the next night. I highly recommend the "swim out" rooms. They had 2 loungers that were partially submerged in the water, so we could sit in the water right outside our rooms. You cannot actually swim from one end of the swim out rooms to the other because every 4 rooms there was a small barrier. All rooms face the water, which is a nice, unusual touch. To make this more readable I will use topics: Service: the staff was uniformly lovely. Everyone was so kind, helpful and pleasant. Many of them remembered our names, even after a brief encounter. Truly outstanding. Food: we thought the food was better than it had to be, albeit not on par with a NY restaurant -- which is ok, we were not expecting that. Even when we asked for changes to dishes, they never made a mistake at any of the restaurants. We liked Azul best. The staff was amazing, the views gorgeous and the food was good. The breakfast buffet there was varied enough, and there was a menu too. We had dinner at Portofino once. I liked my food a lot, but since we live in an Italian food paradise (just north of the Bronx), we did not need to return. But if you do not live in an area saturated with outstanding Italian restaurants, then Portofino might be better than what you have around you. We went to Bluefin once for dinner, and thought the poke bowls were fine. It was plenty of food for us (some thought the portions were small, but we disagreed). We never were able to get there for "Lite Bites" because the timing did not work out. We ate at the main buffet several times. I loved how nothing was self-serve. It really instilled confidence in the cleanliness of the whole operation (as did the requirement to sanitize your hands before entering any place). The selections were extremely varied, and the options changed each day for some stations, which was great. I loved that there was fresh fish cooking at lunch, at least 3 choices. Impressive. Room service: although the menu was somewhat limited, orders came very quickly, never longer than 30 minutes. The food was always still hot, which is impressive. They never got an order wrong, even when we were ordering breakfast for 4 people (2 rooms), fairly complicated orders. Gym: Fantastic. It was large and very well-appointed. An excellent hotel gym. Spa: Very good. My friends loved their couples' massage, and I thought that our package, which was a facial, massage and scrub, was very good. The facial was especially good -- Lisa knows what she is doing. The only tiny complaint was the music on a loop -- the loop was not long enough, maybe only 4 or 5 minutes, so it was a bit maddening. I honestly do not know how the staff handles it. Eugene at the front desk saw me 3 days later in the gym and remembered my name. Super impressive. Planes: overall, very cool to see the planes flying overhead. It was slightly annoying in the middle of a conversation but not annoying enough to counter the cool factor. Lobby: really a nice touch to have a bar and to-go food there. We got sandwiches on our way out and ate them in the airport. Very thoughtful. Pools: The faux beach one was my favorite, but we also liked the others. The one by the gym we only went to once, as it was quite small. None were really suitable for swimming laps. Beach: bigger than I thought it would be from previous comments. The waves were pretty big for most of our stay but my husband and his friend did morning swims each morning once the waves had calmed a bit. As a side note: Ocean Point and Malo are two very, very different places. Malo had lines to speak to someone at reception, the lobby always had people sitting around with luggage, the music was louder and the amenities were not as nice. I suppose it's fine if you have kids or that is your vibe, but we definitely would have been miserable if we had been at Malo instead of Ocean Point.
