    Jungle paradise

This place is absolutely gorgeous. The resort is set in a jungle like setting with tons of wildlife, sea life and lush gardens. Here are a few of our favourite things: Food was amazing. We especially liked the BBQ restaurant and loved that reservations were not required as all a la cartes are based on a first come, first served basis. Drinks were good with lots of variety. Rooms were spotless and just what we needed. They are on the smaller side but perfect for a couple. Beds were super comfortable. Pool area is very small and can get crowded, especially when they receive cruise guests who purchase day passes. Pool was also freezing and on the dirtier side. Pool bar was fantastic and our bartender Daniel made sure we had everything we needed. Pool waitresses were a nice touch. Beach was small with not many loungers but we could always find something. Beach is not really swimmable. It’s extremely rocky and you can only get in about 4 feet deep as the snorkeling/dive boats go by all the time. It’s a beautiful spot to snorkel with starfish and fish right at the hotel. Resort itself is small with only 3 a la cartes, 1 buffet (closed for lunch) one snack bar open for lunch and a snack grill by the beach open for lunch. Food was wonderful at all restaurants. The resort itself is like a little piece of paradise. Everything is so green and lush. The flowers were absolutely beautiful and all the wildlife were so neat to see. Staff were absolutely fantastic. We received wonderful service from everyone and we would like to especially that Ismael at the pool towel hut and Alexis who is a bellhop. Thank you for such wonderful service. The only negative I will mention is as mentioned, pool and pool area are very small and can get extremely crowded. It gets hard to even walk around the pool at times. The music at the pool is just awful. Elevator type music until 11:00am then a mix of 80’s country, 80’s music and some newer pop music. I personally would much rather Spanish upbeat music but that’s just me. If you are a smoker there are only 2 smoking areas. One by the front and one by block 74. Check in was brutal. We waited almost an hour. All in all I would definitely return simply for the beauty of the resort. We absolutely loved Cozumel and hope to return soon.

    Iberostar Cozumel

This is an amazing resort with the most friendly staff ever, especially Gerry! The resort has a wide selection and variety of good food and great entertainment throughout the day. The bests aspects include both the stunning sceneries and many different wildlife species. I definitely recommend!

    A fallen gem

I have been going to this resort for over 5 years. In that time, I observing this place slowly diminishing from the grand scale that it once was. But first, the kudos to the people who made my trip enjoyable. To my Star Friends, Fabian, Angi, Montserrat, Ismael, Rosa, and Stephanie, you guys have become like family to me. You guys are the best! Thank you for making my vacation most pleasurable. To Brian at the front desk. You are the best! It's always nice to be greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. You were always able to help me with answers to my questions and requests. Thank you so much! You are truly an asset to Iberostar. To my favorite bartenders and servers. Adrian, Francisco, Armando, Reyes, David, Ana, Cindy, Wibert, Hildago. It's amazing that you always remember my favorite cocktails and provide service with a warm greeting and smile. Now, for the unfortunates of my trip. I had an issue with housekeeping. For days, I didn't get any washcloths in my room. Even after contacting the concierge for some, nothing happened. Such a failure on a simple request. The used drink glasses weren't replaced with clean ones, just flipped over to make it seem like they had been replaced. Another possible health issue. I did get a case of food poisoning at lunch from the main buffet. It was raining that day, so lunch was served there. I heard that 4 other people had gotten sick from the same lunch buffet. I've never had that happen before. Thank God, I recovered from it a day later. I accidently left a couple of hand braces in the room when I checked out. Upon arriving home, I contacted the hotel and spoke with Ramone in Public Relations, and I was told he would check and let me know. I sent pictures of what they looked like but have had no response from him or the hotel on the matter. This is a bad follow-up to the issue. I used to receive a small thank you gratuity gift for being a repeat guest, but I guess that's been cut from the loyalty program. Must be an IHG cost issue thing now. I have a trip booked in May returning to Iberostar Cozumel. I hope it's much better than what I just experienced.

    Needs new management

Is there new management at this hotel? We have been coming here for years and it’s going down hill. The pool is freezing cold. And I mean freezing!! There aren’t many palapas on the beach for shade. The show were way better when it was Star friends. The Star friends anre the best. are awesome! Big shout out for Angie, Fabian,Gerry, monserrant. We loved them! And to victor, Cindy, Wilbert, Guadalalupe, and Elisandra. Hotel needs new management!!

    Gluten Free Delight!

The grounds are still as beautiful as they were 7 years ago. But the best thing about this stay was the service! I have celiac disease and I was very worried about going to a buffet. I mentioned this when I checked in and they let the chefs know. At every meal, either Michele or Alexia would go through everything with me to let me know what was gluten free and what wasn't. They would also always ask if I would like something different prepared. For me, those 2 made my trip absolutely WONDERFUL! I also had a Mayan massage at the spa and it was the best massage that I've ever had!
