Christmas & New Years 2025
Checked in Dec 21.. Check in was a bit of a mess. There was alot of us checking in with Sunwing. Finally got my room around 5 pm. Room was nice. Clean and pretty big. Was hot water and the air was great!!! I actually had to turn it up it was so cold. Lol. The resort is not that big which i liked. There is a pool and a hot tub. The pool waz freezing!!! Lol the resort is not that far south and the nights were chilly. The days are like 25 C and the nights can go down to 15 C. Lot of people wore jackets. The beach is nice with the sand and you can go for walks both ways. The entertainment was meh. Sometimes they would play the same 6 songs over and over. The hot tub was nice but to many kids inside it. I was a bit dissapointed by the food!! Im not a picky person. There is a snack bar which serves burgers/hotdogs and fries. It was meh. The buffet breakfast was ok... The food was always cold except when you got an omlette (If they were working) same repetitive thing each day. I had the buffet lunch once. Meh. The xmas dinner was not bad. Turkey etc. The staff were really nice actually. Overall Pool 3.75/5 Beach 4/5 Room 4/5 Food 3/5 Entertainment 3/5 Overall 3.75/5. I would return to the resort.

A restful week
We didn’t have high Expectations as this was a budget friendly vacation. Overall it was a relaxing week. The check-in process was a bit painful and disorganized. The food was actually very decent, The a la cartes were all delicious with excellent service in the a la cartes. The buffets, although not a huge selection was good. The pool unfortunately was feeezing, but it was December. Not much entertainment happening. The sports bar was only opened one night that we were there. The bar staff were all friendly, not quality booze but the beer was good, There were no blenders at the bars so I didn’t get my usual vacay drinks. They do have the slushy machines. OveralL, we all caught up on some needed rest. This hotel has potential but is missing some luster.

You go for the beach!
We recently stayed at this hotel and the beach is what draws you to this place. It’s absolutely beautiful – the water is crystal clear, and the sand is powdery white, almost like flour beneath your feet. But that's about it. Lower your expectations for everything else. The food, entertainment, (lack of) children's activities (including at the children's club), and no heated pool (the water was frigid) made the experience meh. There is a jacuzzi tub that was regularly filled with unsupervised kids since the pool was too cold for most people. There were some friendly employees who would smile and say hello but generally, their vibe was seasoned (and disgruntled). The room was terrible. We went with our two small children and had to decide which of the two was getting a warm shower at the end of the day, leaving only cold water for the rest of us. There was no heat in the room and the AC only worked either on full blast or off. No screen on the patio doors so unable to have fresh air come into the room during the cool nights. Door didn't lock fully so we had to shim the ironing board between the bathroom door jam and the door handle. We celebrated Christmas there and we will say that the efforts put forward to make it a special day were appreciated. Grinch was there, Santa showed up with gifts for the children and the dinner was well-organized and delicious.

Meh in Paradise
The setting was beautiful and breathtaking. You can definitely tell that the facilities were underwater in 2019 and that the pandemic hit them financially. Many things were old and worn out or not working. Our bedding and our curtains were old and stained in multiple places. The floors were chewed up. There was black mold in our bathroom and it seemed overall dirty. Our shower temperature nozzle did not work. Many times there was not hot water and we had to plan our showers strategically. The buffet food was meh. The drinks were meh. The frozen drink machine could not keep up with demand even though it was only in the 70s. How did it keep up in the summertime??? Swarms of bees everywhere. Only one spigot of the outdoor rinse-off-from-the-beach shower worked. Hot tub was constantly gross because many kids were in it at all times. Better use of app to get info to us!!!

Just ok but could be better
We were here in mid-December for a week. Unfortunately the weather was bad except for our last full day here. The rest of the time it was cloudy, raining and windy and therefore the ocean was turbulent and we couldn’t swim. So if you love swimming in the ocean, please note that if the weather isn’t good, the ocean isn’t swimmable and the waves push you against the rocks. This review is based on the hotel and surroundings, not the weather. Cons: ROOM: needs updating as our door handle never worked properly despite complaints to guest services. Shower water was cold to mildly warm and maintenance couldn’t really fix it. BUFFET: same ever day, no bacon, no cheese and sometimes empty trays or food scraps A LA CARTE RESTAURANTS: ok as long as you book as soon as you can. If you wait more than 24 hours after arrival, you’re out of luck and you can’t book and get into all 3 restaurants for the week. Guest services was lousy at reserving restaurant bookings. The app used to make the bookings was useless as well. STAFF: some were friendly, some neutral and some were sour like you were inconveniencing them TOWELS: a crap shoot each day since they ran out of beach towels half way through the day POOL: colder than the ocean! Surprising since this is a family hotel and the pool was pretty cold for kids! Pros: BEACH: large beach, white sand, can walk quite a distance either way, lots of chairs and shade, no need to reserve chairs early in the morning BUGS: because of the windy, cool weather there were no sand fleas nor mosquitoes It was a ‘getaway’ from daily life and work, but we won’t be returning.
