    Deceptive Practices - Avoid!

I booked this resort for my parents who don't travel very much, as I was staying at a home nearby and could spend some time with them. At check-in, we were greeted by Diego who sat us all down to explain all the amenities and where things were located. He also stated that because my parents had booked the resort directly through the website, they were given an upgraded breakfast the next morning at neighboring resort Secrets. I asked directly if it was going to be a timeshare presentation as I have been through this many times before at resorts. He looked me in the eye and stated "no - we want to promote people booking through Hyatt's website instead of third parties so this is a thank you". I left it at that. My parents were shown to a horrible room - air conditioning didn't work, the lock on the door didn't work, paint was peeling everywhere. They were told to sit tight and they would be called back about another room. They sat and waited in the hot room for 3 hours, as they were afraid to leave their luggage with the lock not working. They were finally moved to another room that was not much better but at least the locks and A/C worked. The next morning they went down to their "thank you" breakfast and guess what. It was a time-share pitch - except they don't call it that anymore, now they refer to it as a vacation club. Same damn thing. Over 3 hours they were in their "thank you breakfast". This was their first time out of the country and they are in their 70's - so thank you for wasting their first 2 days of a 5 day vacation. I have never been so angry with a resort. As someone who travels often and am in Cozumel yearly I will be sure no one I know will ever stay at this resort, and am questioning the Hyatt brand of resorts for having this garbage as one of their partners.

    Amazing Beach, Some Frustrating Moments

Overall, it was a solid trip. The beach? Seriously, that was the best beach I've seen at any of these resorts in Mexico. Clear, the right amount of sandy, calm, like, picture-perfect. Plus, they had all the non-motorized water stuff included – snorkeling, kayaks, the works. That was a huge bonus. The staff? Super friendly. No complaints there. And we really enjoyed the food options by the pool every day. They had some cool shows too, Mayan and magic, which were actually pretty fun. There were some… weird things. First off, the spa. We booked treatments, and they wanted us to pay before we even got started, which is just odd. And we could not pay with credit cards. Debit only. That was very inconvenient. But after that, the treatment itself was very good and we ended up happy enough. We have the UVC membership, which supposedly entitles us to a room upgrade. We got it, but I had to remind the staff about it a couple of times and it was only for two nights out of four. Didn't make much sense. And no early or late checkout. Didn't seem to me like the hotel was sold out so I don't think it was an availability issue, but I may be wrong. Food-wise, mostly fine, not the most lavish or variate food selection, but it was OK. We did find some raw (not just rare, but raw) meat at the buffet one day though. That was a bit of a turn-off. And, on checkout day, the door lock on one of our party's rooms decided to quit working. Two hours we were locked out of our stuff. Fortunately we had a late flight so that didn't had any grave consequences. It wasn't a disaster. The beach and the included activities were awesome, we had a great family vacation, the kids had a lot of fun and we'd probably go back, but, you know, with a few reservations.

    Disappointing in many ways

This place was a disappointment. There was a group of us who went and all of us had issues of one sort or another. A number of us thought we could enjoy the amenities at the neighboring resorts (also Hyatt properties). That turned out to be false - there was a stiff fee to use the other resorts but guests there could come to ours free of charge. The food selection was disappointing, almost nothing was served hot (all lukewarm) and most of the liquors were below bottom shelf in quality. While I thought the staff were hardworking and enthusiastic, they seemed to be lacking in solid training in customer service. Hyatt has done them a disservice in underinvesting in training at this facility.

    Ok, for the price

Not a terrible resort but not the best. The food would be my biggest negative . It wasn’t that it was horrible, it’s that there are only two small restaurants to choose from. No buffet. Only one bar. Ok for the price. They will try to get you to go through a timeshare spill. Once you say NO, their demeanor changes and the friendliness diminishes.

Warm and Welcoming Space to BE!

A big group of us came here on a dance vacation, and the resort was extremely accommodating. The activities and entertainment were unique and fun (especially karaoke and the Mayan performance). There were SO many food options. The beach was comfortable and enjoyable, and the resort was easy to navigate. Great for all ages and abilities. The staff is the highlight though, particularly Captain Ricardo and his team (Mich, Caro, Antonio, and Rene). They are funny and kind and caring and work SO hard. They were lovely to have around throughout the week, and we enjoyed them very much. Staying here felt like we were staying with family.
