    Dated hotel but friendly service!

This is a dated hotel with timeshare units build on property. Everyone who works there is very friendly. The grounds, ambiance, and hotel rooms are a 2.5 out of 5 unless unless you are on level 5 and those would be a 3 out of 5 as they are larger suites with a living room and separate bedroom with 1.5 baths. Restaurants are average. If you’re with kids and like cruise ships, this would be a good place for you. There are three pools and hot tubs. Beach was nice however it’s on the ocean /windward side of the island so there is a lot of sargassum and the water is choppy. Compared to many other beachfront Marriotts unfortunately this hotel is well below average… I would compare it to a Wyndham. Everyone whom we interacted with working there was full of smiles however.

Great choice for a beach/pool centered vacation

We recently spent 5 nights at this resort. I have to admit that the hotel and the grounds look as good in real life as they do in the pictures. Hotel is located about a 15 minute drive from the Airport (the fare is $25 US and all taxies in St Kitts accept US dollars). After arriving at the hotel around 2 pm, we did have to wait about an hour before our room was ready. When we finally got to our room, we were impressed...the room is spacious, has a king size bed, a sofabed with a coffee table, a sitting chair with an Ottoman, a nice sized fridge, large screen tv, closet with a safe and some shelves, spacious bathroom with a large tub that you could take a soaking bath in, spacious vanity area. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The room does not have drawers but we were able to use the shelving unit in the closet as our drawer space. Room had a nice size balcony with 2 sitting chairs...one issue we had was that one of the chairs was broken so we only had one balcony chair to sit on. We had to report the issue to the front desk 3 times before they finally addressed it and replaced the chair on our 2nd night. TV was a bit disappointing as many of the channels had poor picture quality and/or sound quality. As far as the property is concerned, the grounds are very large and expansive. There are 3 swimming pools, the main pool (which was usually pretty busy) and the north and south pools (neither were busy at all and were a good choice if you wanted to sit poolside with peace and quiet). Only downside of the north and south pools is that it's a bit of a hike to the pool bar and restaurant. Both the north and south pools do have bathrooms. The beach is very large and wide....it was so spacious that it never felt crowded. There are numerous lounge chairs on the beach and many palapas.....finding a beach lounger with shade was not a problem during our stay....even if we showed up to the beach at 12 noon we still had no problem finding shady chairs. As other reviewers have mentioned, the water can be kind of rough and there is a lot of seaweed. I found that if you go to the left side of the beach, there was less seaweed and water was not as rough. Hotel has a fitness center that looked nice but we didn't have time to use it. While the drinks at the bars were good, food was a mixed bag. We had dinner at the Calypso buffet our first night. It was $30 something per person for a small selection of food choices, all of which were mediocre in quality. We also tried the Calypso breakfast buffet and also found that underwhelming....the hot breakfast at most Embassy Suite hotels has a larger spread than the Calypso breakfast buffet. The best food we had at this resort was the Pizza Shack by the main pool......the pizza was so good we had lunch there twice...it also appeared to be popular with other guests also. We did not try the Fire steakhouse or Cucina Italian restaurant as both restaurants were very expensive and the reviews we read were mixed about the quality. We also noticed that both restaurants were pretty empty at dinner time...not hard to understand why...there are several dinner options within 15 minutes walk from the hotel (Rock Lobster and Splash restaurant at Royal St Kitts both had excellent dinners and excellent service). There are also several breakfast options that are walkable from the hotel and you can get a reasonably priced tasty breakfast (Rituals Coffee offered an excellent breakfast). You can also take a short cab ride (or healthy walk) to the Strip where there about 10 or so beachside bar and grills to choose from for dinner. Hotel also has an onsite casino.....we played slots 4 nights and found the slots to be very tight...you can lose money quickly with these slot machines. One plus of the casino is that they have a Happy Hour every night from 6 pm to 8 pm where all drinks (including specialty cocktails) are half price...consequently we made a stop there each night to take advantage of the Happy Hour bargain. There are not a lot of high end hotels in St Kitts....Other than the Hyatt, this is probably the most high end resort on the island. While the food and drinks are pricey, the spacious well furnished room, along with the 3 large pools and the large beach with plenty of seating makes this an excellent resort for this type of vacation.

If you like big resorts this one is a pretty good one

So first off, this is the largest resort on St. Kitts. We tend to do smaller resorts than this and I was a little hesitant, but the number of on-site restaurants is what sold me. We got a deluxe suite in the main building up on the 5th floor. The room was fantastic. Huge shower, bedroom separate from the sitting room, big L-shaped couch, dining area, two bathrooms, large comfy bed, balcony facing the ocean. Cleaned every day and everything top notch for the room. Arrived on Friday and the pool was packed and loud music going. Went to a side pool and it was less crowded, but they had music going too. Turns out I think there was a big convention or something, everyone wearing name tags. At first, I seriously questioned picking the resort. But by Sunday afternoon a lot had cleared out and it was fairly quiet after that (4 night stay). Pools were well cleaned and nice thing is each chair has its own attached sunshade. We liked that. We spent most of the time at the beach. There were usually chairs and they have a ton of permanent palapas. The water is on the Atlantic side, so there was some wave action. They have two breakwalls so that calms it down a lot. But depending on the day it can be fairly ok or rough. I'm sure the Caribbean side is calmer. That is always something to think about at any Caribbean resort, which side of the island its on. But we liked the beach. Restaurants: steak house is fantastic, Italian is hit or miss, dinner buffet at Calypso on weekends is smaller but excellent, Calypso Cafe was our go-to for coffee and pastries every morning (it can get busy but they do a good job). Speaking of the cafe, I was very surprised how affordable (by Caribbean standards) it is. Coffee prices comparable to Starbucks, $8 smoothies, $3.50 muffins (delicious), lots of pastries about $4-5 each. Sandwiches there are large and only $10 and sooooo good (highly recommend the Prosciutto paninni). Did not have the breakfast buffet at the resort. Lunch at the poolside restaurant one day (Saturday) was crazy busy and waited an hour for the food, but when it did arrive it was really, really good. Had the blackened fish sandwich - delicious! And one cocktail and I had a buzz on, so they don't skimp. Funny thing about the food is the prices aren't that high by Caribbean standards. We paid about $120 for two at the steakhouse (wine each and no desert), whereas we paid about $180 down the street for sushi (2 rolls, 2 cocktails, 2 deserts). Staff everywhere were always great, especially at the Cafe. They work so hard when it gets busy but are very efficient and friendly. But have no complaints at all about service the entire stay. There are several restaurants within walking distance down the street (sushi, Lebanese, Indian, various Asian) and a fair-sized smaller grocery store. Felt perfectly safe walking around. We probably wouldn't stay again because it was a little too big for our normal Caribbean vacation. But it really did grow on us and everything worked out great. We had a relaxing vacation.

    Second trip to St.Kitts 2025

We visited for two weeks in January and enjoyed every day. We came back in March on a cruise and headed straight back to the Marriott to enjoy the pool/beach and to see the staff that have now become our friends. The staff at this hotel have been awesome. A big shoutout to Charleen and Latrice at the pool. They were great with all our service every day. They are very friendly. They made sure we were taken good care of.

    Shaq is the Bomb.com!

We came over from Nevis for the day, hungry and decided to stop at the lobby bar! We didn’t know the bar opened at 3pm - weird! But we had a drink with Shaq - what a gem! He turned around our disappointment into an experience of ultimate pleasure that you forgot you were hungry!! Enjoyed our time with Shaq! Hold onto this gem!!
