Recommend but it’s just under a four star.
Good resort. But more a 3.5 to 4 star. Not a 5 star. Food was adequate, but missing the layout of Iberostar or Riu resorts. We had a swim up room facing ocean which was absolutely amazing! The view everyday was breathtaking. Highly recommend this upgrade. Italian restaurant undercooked the chicken. Japanese overcooked the teriyaki. Souchi and steak house were very good.

Not a bad spot.
We selected this hotel as part of our excursion with our cruise line. The pool was great. The beach was also nice, but the chairs on the beach need replaced. Food at the buffet for lunch was a little under average. Still a great beach day though!

Senator was excellent...
The Senator resort... PROS: I sent an email to their customer service 10 days before visit, and made several requests e.g. Upper floor, balcony etc. All requests were honoured. Food was excellent, plenty of variety. Rooms were very clean, no bugs. Fridge was stocked up daily with water and pop. Staff were very good. Beach was great. CONS: Flies in the buffet, but that is inevitable in these hot climate resorts. Didn't see many people tipping the staff. On two occasions I saw ignorant tourists aggressively berating the staff. On one occasion a male was screaming at two of the female housekeepers, it's a pity that he could not get a short stay in another Dominican resort were the food was restricted to bread and water. Idiots, unfortunately on both occasions the men involved seemed to be Canadian or American. It's a good idea to monitor the price for a period before booking as it fluctuates. Overall I thought the Senator resort was excellent, and I would not hesitate to return.

Good but not a 4.5 star
We were there with a group for a week in December 2024. Positive: nice pools and animation at the pool ( but not the quiet and relaxing that I was looking for) Lots or trees on the beach to get some shade Negative: Repetitive food at the buffet, we were only entitled to 2 “a la carte” restaurant during our stay. LOTS of flies at the buffet, they let doors open and let them in! There were so many that I almost swallowed one who got into my drink. Once, I found one underneath my pasta dead in the sauce. Room: bloc 10. Needs renovations but was well maintained by staff. I asked for an ironing board that never came so I ended up borrowing one from another guest Evening entertainment was a deception. we ended up going to the sister hotel next door which had much more entertainment and a nicer stage

Excellent resort with good and friendly staff 4 and a half star.
Booked 3dec to 17th, fast check in, room was not ready as we arrived at 1pm but after going for a quick bite we were readyfor ourroom which was very clean. We were in block 11 on ground floor, had a view of cruiseships at amber cove, littleinconvenience was mosquitoes around 8am andat end of day when we were enjoying a cocktail on balcony, we had this problem last yearin punta cana so we hadbrought mosquito repellent that did ths trick. The food and service was excellent at buffet andlegends sport bar. Did try out restaurants on site , italian and steak house were fantastic , we ordered a bottle of wine at steak house for $24 US ,much better than house wine which seemed very young and no after taste.steak was generous i had skirt steak with chimichurri sauce which melted in mymouth ,wifehad chefs special tenderloin with shrimps and mushrooms which also was tender and well cooked. Italian was at par forafine italian eatery. Our only deception was the asian restaurant , large group at tappianni grill , meats were overcooked , left on grill way too long , small portion of mushy vegetables. We should of opted for plates of different sushi. As fod legends sport bar staff very friendly with multiple cocktails allways served best. And food was hot and served just right onlyinconvenuence is the hundreds of flies. There everywhere in lobby and bar, and your food and drinks , buffet area in and out sprayed every day but not legends and lobby . Thjs is only inconvenience at the resort, i would have given a 10 out of 10 except forthose nasty flies.i would dearly like to come back at this resort in thefuture and recommend to my friends
