  A Proposal Undermined by Poor Service – Deeply Disappointed

  I had high expectations for this resort, planning a once-in-a-lifetime proposal for my fiancée. I reached out over a month in advance to arrange photography and special details, yet received no response until three days into our trip—far too late to help. Left with no choice, I had to arrange everything last-minute at an exorbitant cost for minimal service. The resort is beautiful and well-decorated, but that’s where the positives end. Marketed as a romantic destination, Secrets Resorts did nothing to make our occasion special. They were happy to take thousands of dollars but offered no effort or accommodation. The language barrier wasn’t the issue—the lack of initiative was. Beyond the proposal disappointment, the experience was underwhelming. Only 3 out of 6 restaurants were worth visiting, and while entertainment was fine, it wasn’t impressive. The one highlight was the drinks, which were consistently good, thanks to great bartenders. Housekeeping was subpar—the room was lightly tidied, but empty glasses and small messes sat untouched for days, even after requesting a refresh. A little more attention would have made a difference. I managed to make the proposal special despite the resort, not because of it. The poor communication, lack of effort, and dismissive service tainted what should have been a joyful experience. If you’re considering this resort, look elsewhere.

  Secret getaway

  The entire resort was awesome , well maintained . The restaurants are second to none. Our Butler Ryan went above and beyond always at at disposal Secret Tides does not overwhelm the butlers with excess rooms to manage which is 100 percent a great idea. The hotel staff very friendly and accommodating

  Luxury Travel Experience

  Absolutely incredible experience at this resort. From the moment we arrived with fresh damp hand towels and champagne, we were impressed by the impeccable service and friendliness of the staff. We were upgraded to "Preferred" status by the resort as there was a company retreat going on simultaneously and they wanted to allow us to have space from that group. We were assisted by a butler, Javier, throughout the trip who was extremely accommodating and helpful (he would message us every morning with activities and events of the day, he would answer any request promptly, and he would check on us periodically each day to assess our needs). The grounds of the resort are outstanding, and the rooms exceeded expectations with easy accessibility, surround sound bluetooth speakers throughout the room, and a jacuzzi on the back deck with an incredible view of the ocean, the mountains, and a field of horses below us. We were in awe of the cleanliness and incorporation of greenery throughout the resort. We stayed mainly at the Preferred pool where Juliana, our pool server, always knew our drink orders from the day prior and had drinks and shots ready for us. The only things I would make note of but by no means significantly impacted our trip were certain foods. Specifically would recommend against ordering room service after 11pm (which in hind sight should have been a no brainer) as the food was subpar. Also was not overly impressed with Portofino, the Italian restaurant. El Patio, the Mexican restaurant, was stellar!! The buffet had an incredible selection of different foods. I will say most of the desserts, although beautiful, were pretty bland. The Barefoot Grill served as the perfect poolside snack bar with an assortment of chips, guac, pico, burgers, wings, pizza, etc. I'm pretty sure we had lunch from there every day. They also had a convenience store that carried everything from snacks to medications to gifts! All in all I highly recommend staying at this resort, and I plan to return in the future. Above and beyond my expectations.

  Secrets Cap Cana this is not…..

  Service at Tides is a far cry from Secrets Cap Cana. Food quality is average at best and servers most often arrive with your next course before they take away your plates from the prior course so the customer becomes a waiter juggling plates while they drop your new dish in front of you. Restaurant staff are in a big rush-it’s like a factory-get you in and get you out as fast as possible-that’s not a 5 star experience-it barely makes the cut for 4 star and the poor cuts of steak in the steak house are 3 star -tough and chewy. After many stays at Secrets Cap Cana, Tides really comes up short. Beach is decent, loungers not a problem, rooms are nice and the property is pretty but service is very weak and food quality barely acceptable for a resort that markets itself as 5 star. Our Butler (Rayjan) was excellent - but he can’t manage the restaurants on top of his other duties.

  Great resort

  Wonderful, beautiful resort with amazing staff highly recommend. Freslin our UVC rep helped us get some medicine that my wife left at home. It makes all the difference in her stay. Michael our butler has been outstanding in assisting us in communicating with Freslin and assisting us with reservations and information. If you are getting a butler I would recommend asking for Michael.
