Would not stay here again.
Conditions of the rooms were not worth the money we paid for for our stay. I would not recommend this location in its current condition. When I tried to contact Hyatt, they gave me the runaround. THE STAFF WAS AMAZING, but the condition of the rooms were horrible.

Sad the resort is getting worse
Beautiful location on a great island. Sadly the resort is not good. This is my fourth time at this resort. I love the area so much I have overlooked that it is 2.5 star resort selling itself as a 5 star. The resort was totally remodeled and became a Secrets resort after the hurricane. Even though the resort has only been open a few years it is seriously dated. They closed last year to start remodeling but I have notice no improvements. I was told that the pool area was closed and you can not walk in that area of the resort at night (7:30 pm). I had to clean my drain in the shower because the shower flooded the bathroom. I rarely judge a resort on food because I am not a big eater but the lack of choice is pretty said. The French restaurant is in a an open ballroom. I did not eat there but extremely poor atmosphere. My experience at the front desk was wonderful. Great people can only do so much when given nothing to work with. They are suppose to close in June to finish remodeling I wonder if they will ever open back up because if they have remodeled it is not noticeable.

Excellent vacation.
We have just returned from a relaxing week at this resort. In reading all reviews beforehand, our expectations were low. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the resort location, condition of the grounds, people and food - all exceeding expectations. Were there areas which require updating? YES, many. However, none of which had a large negative impact on our stay. Would like to mention a few employees who honestly love their job and were amazing to deal with and get to know. Claude, Melinda & Sunshine. There were many more and you must forgive me as their names slipped my memory as there were many. The buffet was always changing up the main dishes and the quality of food was very good. The restaurant option changed daily and again the food was very good. The beach is second to none. Warm clear water and for the most part no extreme waves or major amounts of seaweed. Would recommend this resort if a quiet and relaxing vacation is what you are looking for. All entertainment stopped precisely at 10pm making for a slower pace, non-"party" atmosphere. Rumour has it, this resort is closing for full renovation & possible rebranding. If this is the case, the days of an inexpensive week away would no longer be. Overall, had a great week, great beach, grounds, food and people.

Good resort with a few areas for improvement
I would give this resort 3.5 stars. My friend and I enjoyed a nice, relaxing vacation but there are definite areas for improvement. Overall the staff was great. Specifically Angel in Himitsu, our two hibachi chefs Davis and JR, Charmen and Josephine in the buffet, Leo at the Preferred Club bar, and Brenton at the pool bar. I wish I got more names because there were many others who stood out! My friend and I stayed for a week and had a Preferred Club Master Suite in building three that overlooked the marina. The view was great, and we loved our room. It was clean, spacious, and recently renovated. The air conditioning worked great and we always had hot water. The housekeeping staff does a fantastic job, and the snacks we were given (M&Ms, Pringles, and peanuts) were a nice little treat. The fridge was always restocked every morning. The bed was comfortable, and so was the pull out couch (which isn’t always the case with pull-outs!). Good quality shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and moisturizer were provided. My only complaint about the room is it would have been nice to have a mirror outside of the bathroom, but that’s a minor complaint. The food was pretty good. There is a grill by the pool that has great burgers, and the Caesar salad must be a hit because it always sold out the days they had it. The breakfast buffet was mediocre, but the lunch and dinner buffets were good. Dinner each night had a different type of protein on the carving station. I was pleasantly surprised to see lamb one of those nights! The buffet had good options for more adventurous eaters (goat curry, paella, etc) and those who are little pickier (grilled chicken, cheesy potatoes, etc). The fans in the buffet don’t seem to work so sometimes it could be very warm and uncomfortable. There are also a lot of birds and they have no qualms swooping in and stealing food from abandoned plates. This didn’t bother my friend and I (in fact we found them entertaining) but if you are annoyed by birds doing this it’s not the place for you. We ate at Himitsu (the Japanese a la carte) twice and did the hibachi table twice as both were so good. I’ve never had such good sushi at an all-inclusive. The other a la cartes are located in what looks like a banquet hall, and they rotate so there is a different one each night. We enjoyed the steakhouse as well as the Mediterranean. I will say the location leaves something to be desired, but we knew this before we went. The regular locations of the a la cartes are under construction. The drinks were great and I didn’t find them watered down at all. High-end alcohol was always used, and there was always a selection of different types of red and white wine. On the Sunday we were there they did start running out of things (Tito’s vodka, multiple types of wine, lime, chocolate syrup, etc) but that was the only day. Where the resort is lacking is entertainment. Another thing we knew before we went and it didn’t overly bother us, but something to keep in mind. There is a singer in the lobby from 8pm-10pm and that’s it. There are no shows, and things are very quiet after 10pm. During the day the entertainment crew was rarely seen even though the daily agenda did have activities listed. I think the only activity we actually saw happen was water aerobics everyday at noon. There was a DJ at the pool from 1pm-3pm each day. DJ Moni spent her time taking selfies while music played, but DJ Darrian was great. The pool was a bit cold but it was nice and big and never felt crowded. It was pretty clean, though we watched many guests wash sand off their feet into the pool, so you could see some sand in the shallower areas. Functional showers would help eliminate this as guests would have somewhere else to wash their feet. There was a really nice beach-like walk-in section on one side of the pool, and we didn’t have issues finding chairs by the pool except for the Sunday we were there. There are a lot of iguanas and you do have to be mindful of iguana poop when walking around the pool deck. We also saw one poop in the pool (once notified the staff cleaned it right away). These things didn’t bother my friend and me, but I know not everyone is ok with it. The infinity portion of the pool is gorgeous…except they put a fence right in front of it which obstructs the view of the ocean. The beach did have quite a bit of seaweed the first couple days, but it was great the rest of the week. Nice, smooth sand with no need for water shoes. If you want a chair with an umbrella at the beach you will need to go out and save one no later than 7am. A few other things to mention. The WiFi doesn’t work by the pool or the beach. Restrooms are not well-marked. We spent half the trip walking to the other side of the pool to use the restroom only to discover there was one right beside where we were sitting, there were just no signs on the doors so we thought it was a storage shed. The resort is small so no matter where your room is it will not take you more than five minutes to walk anywhere (maybe 10 if you walk slow!). There were two days where there was a significant amount of smoke coming over from the other side of the mountain causing evening to smell like a campfire. We heard various stories as to why, but the general consensus was it was garbage being burned which we were not thrilled about. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but we got a great deal and may have been disappointed if we’d paid full price. The resort is closing again at the end of May for more renovations so we went into this trip knowing that and knowing there are some areas for improvement. *Tips* - bring a European adaptor if you plan to plug anything in. There are USB plugs as well which work fine for things like phone chargers. The front desk keeps adapters/voltage converters but they reserve them for guests who need them for things like CPAP machines or other medical devices. We heard a lot of guests complaining they couldn’t use their hair straighteners even with adaptors because the device wasn’t made for the EU voltage. If your device isn’t made for EU voltage you will need a converter as well, but it’s hit and miss whether your device will work with a converter (I purposely have a hair straightener made for 120-240 V so I can use it anywhere). Don’t take it out on the staff! - euros and US dollars are widely accepted on the French side of the island. We tipped in USD with no issues - bring towel clips as it’s very windy - if you get car-sick I’d suggest taking Gravol before leaving the airport as the roads are winding with lots of big hills

Spectacular Place
The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were there for 2 weeks and enjoyed the food and beverages. The rooms were clean and if we needed anything we contacted the front desk and got. Mac lorrie, Elissa,Yance,Melinda,Sunshine were great
