Second visit to secrets better than the first

In writing this review as we’re sat on our loungers before we jet off back to Manchester later today feeling sad to be leaving but thankful for our great holiday. Second visit to secrets royal beach. Another wonderful experience. Rooms:- we had a room in block 2 top floor. The room was very clean upon arrival. It was nice and cool. Plenty of room for clothes and plenty of hangers. We had two double beds which I was a little unsure on but worked out nice to be fair. Comfortable mattresses and pillows. The room was cleaned to a high standard everyday. Fresh towels offered each day if needed. Mini bar stocked with fizzy drinks, water, juice and beers. This was topped up each day if you’d used anything. A coffee machine in the room with coffee again replenished if used. The maid also cleaned our machine each day. Our view from the spacious balcony was overlooking the dreams hotel next door palm trees in between so still nice and private. Bathroom was spacious and well lit. Usual soaps, shampoos etc provided. We didn’t use these but I’d presume they’d be replaced once empty. They also provide slippers and gowns if you need them. Restaurants:- The food on offer at all the restaurants is superb. We did not have one bad meal. We noticed some more dishes available from last year which was good. Buffet:- This buffet is one of the best we’ve experienced on our travels. We had our evening meal there on our first night and the choice was amazing. We ate here for breakfast every day and were bowled over by the food on offer and how brilliant the staff were. They can’t do enough for you and also seem so happy. Some of the staff seemed to remember us from our visit last year and every day after our first visit they mate a special effort to decorate our table each morning. The guys from our section also worked at the Mexican in the evening. I feel the need to mention some staff from here because the really made us feel welcome. Modesto, Aridio and Jonathon were fantastic. They also made sure we had everything we needed in the Mexican when we ate there. They are a credit to the hotel. They even made an effort to have a chat if they had time. Little things like this really enhance the overall experience in my view. The lady who cooked my omelette each morning was brilliant she even remembered my exact preference. Her name was Willemina I think. Again what a member of staff you have there. French:- We ate in the French twice and had some wonderful dishes. The lamb is fantastic. Asian:- We also ate here twice and really enjoyed our meals. The sushi is great and plentiful. We didn’t do the hibachi but everyone we saw do it seemed to really enjoy it and the chefs kept them entertained The grill:- This is where we noticed a couple of additions to the menu. They offered a T-bone steak and a ribeye steak. We ate here 3 times and I had the t-bone ace and the ribeye twice. Some of the best steaks I’ve tasted. Cooked to perfection each time. We also did the seafood and Italian at the dreams side and had no complaints at all. Staff fantastic and food decent again. Bars:- We would usually spend our day by the quiet pool and try a few drinks at the reef bar which is situated between the quit pool and the busy pool. The drinks were fresh and tasty but yet again it’s the staff that enhance it. Jose and Remy were great. They would come around the pool checking if you needed anything regularly. Try the cocktails of the day there. Very refreshing indeed In the evenings we would start at the rendezvous bar beer the checkin desk and could not fault the drinks or the service. Alexander Reyes was great. You could see his attention to detail in every drink he made. He never stopped smiling. Again what a member of staff to have. Shows:- The entertainment team never seemed to stop. All day long trying to keep people happy. The show’s were entertaining and you can see the work they’ve put in. I’m sure I’ve forgotten something but I would highly recommend coming here. The hotel on a whole is clean spacious and set up for everyone to have the holiday expected. Take the negative reviews with a pinch of salt as I’m sure you can see the positive reviews far out weigh the negative. Arrive with the idea you’re going to totally relax and be treated like family. I want to mention again the staff who really made the trip extra special for us Jose at the reef bar you even remembered I had a bad back last time I was here. That is a personal touch brother you are a great person Modesto, Aridio and Jonathan AKAcoffee boy /James Bond. A personal joke from me if you meet him ask him the story. We laughed a few times over it Thank you so much secrets royal beach you have give us some amazing experiences and wonderful memories keep up your amazing work Jason and Jo

Horrible! Please don’t waste your money!

Please be aware of this resort, I went to secrets on October 8-17, first encounter checking in, very unfriendly and rude man, (Francisco)only care about us upgrading which we did not want to do because we upgraded room when we booked. Room: horrible nasty smell, not really clean, no mirror, no clock, phone did not work. Food: horrible, poor quality, not really good flavor Al all, drinks water down, restaurant, very bad experience, they kept saying there were 20 people in front of us, every night same number, it was a lie, I started talking to one of the workers and he helps us. We got sick from that horrible food, resort is overprice, not really clean, bad food, not great services, small very small sport bar, my poor husband wanted to watch baseball, please do not go, consider going somewhere else especially for the price. Special mention to Fransis the only nice friendly guy in the whole resort, thanks to him we were able to at least have an ok few days. I’m never coming back and I do not recommend it.

    Secrets - punta cana

I did not care for the resort food except specialty restaurants. My AC never worked and they did not help me properly. They kept sending maintenance and they spoke no English. It was frustrating. My pillows were damp due to the ac not working .

Nice place to vacation for 50+.

Beautiful area, pools, beaches, rooms, have a lot of privacy, Nightly entertainment was vary good. Easy to enjoy the time and never leave the resort. Food is not the best but not bad. The only thing I can complain about is the size of the Resort. Long walk from the beach rooms to the restaurant's and entertainment. I never checked on getting a lift. Older crowd, with Dreams next door or the younger family.
