Amazing stay!
Such a gorgeous resort with amazing accommodations, food was fantastic and service couldn’t be better! Everything is so well kept and clean! Loved being surrounded by the gorgeous nature. Would recommend this place 100%! Christian and Merari from the entertainment team were the best! Great mix of fun and relaxation! We will be back!

Birthday trip
Beautiful location and resort. Our room needed to be cleaned again when we arrived but they were quick to do so and it's been wonderful since. Dinner last night at the seafood restaurant was really good. Highly recommend the ceviche. Great bracelet making class with Ariana. Very helpful and patient.

Exceptional staff
I’d like to begin this (rather long) review by saying that the employees at this resort are hardworking, friendly, and so kind. Almost all seemed to make it their goal to see that you felt welcome and appreciated. Shuttle drivers, bartenders, wait staff, and housekeepers were all absolutely great. When I speak of the negatives, it is not to dissuade the reader from booking a vacation here…just to offer advice and give an idea of what to expect and things to avoid. My husband and I were there to celebrate his birthday. We decided to splurge on a junior suite with a plunge pool which included the Preferred Club aspect. Upon arrival we were taken to the Preferred Club check in, which is located separately from “regular” check in. After completing the paperwork and providing our credit card, we were introduced to our “VIP host”. She was so sweet and began telling us about the perks of the Preferred Club. When she mentioned we could choose between free spa treatments, excursions, or private dinners we thought “wow, Preferred Club IS worth it!” However, as she continued to talk, it became clear that these offers were only if we agreed to sit through a World of Hyatt presentation. (I really don’t like that Hyatt subjects guests to this). We politely declined. She texted us the next two days and once asked if we could meet for lunch (again we declined) but other than that, having a “VIP host” didn’t amount to anything more. I do want to make it clear I think this is a Hyatt misstep, and no reflection on her. She could not have been sweeter. As far as the actual Preferred Club lounge…it offers a private bar and some small bites throughout the day. A shuttle driver took us to our room and it was then that we realized we had 51 steps to climb up to our room with the plunge pool. (Yes, we counted haha) But we thought no big deal…although we aren’t young…we are in relatively good shape for our age, we can do this a few times a day! (Pep talk haha) The room itself was very nice, very clean, and of pretty good size. The only downsides to the room are, as others have mentioned, the bathroom is open…as in there is no door for privacy when coming out of the shower. There is a vanity with two sinks flanked on either side by the toilet room with a glass door and a shower also with a glass door. The entire room could use a lot more light, as also mentioned in previous reviews. Makeup mirror light did not work. Plunge pool didn’t have any lounge chairs around it, just a couch and two wood chairs. However, we were excited to enjoy it and hoped to do so before getting ready to go to dinner that first night. Because I currently have a weakened immune system and have to be careful about bacteria, my husband brought some chorine test strips (we are former owners of a swimming pool service). Unfortunately, it tested that there was NO chlorine in the pool. This can lead to dangerous bacteria. He called maintenance and to their credit, someone was there quickly. Unfortunately they added TOO MUCH chlorine and we weren’t able to use it until the last day of our visit, when it finally tested safe. This was actually because in the next couple of days we received so much rain…it brought down the over chlorinated level. Which leads me to the next issue that might be good to know… The steps were not too much of an issue until the rain began. One evening as we headed down to dinner I slipped and fell. (Thankfully I didn’t break anything but I was pretty sore the couple of weeks!) We realized that some of the concrete steps were covered in algae and when it got wet, it was super slick. My husband showed the shuttle driver and they had someone there quickly to clean them. There were no handrails on our steps…I’m not sure why because I saw them on many of the other steps leading up to rooms. I talked to the preferred club manager after it happened and I’m hoping they will take the issue seriously so this doesn’t happen to anyone else. I never heard from any other management after it happened and that was disappointing. I mean just a “check in" would have been nice? As far as dining is concerned, we enjoyed the buffet at Market Cafe for breakfast every morning and it was consistently great. Again, the waitstaff was so friendly and attentive. We even ended up eating there for dinner one night. Portofino (Italian) was really good and definitely the most “high end”. Downside here…we enjoy a nice glass of wine with dinner so we were disappointed that you could not get a decent glass of wine without paying for a bottle and the bottles started at around $65. (Their “house wine” was of very low quality). Since we paid around $2000 per night for all inclusive, we would have expected something a little better. Himitsu was good - we didn’t do the hibachi, just the regular menu so I can’t speak to that. Service was great at Seaside, but the food was really disappointing. Aqua’s food and service were both below par. However, it was the ONLY restaurant we found where service wasn’t good. Room service was good and it amazed me they were able to get it there hot considering they have to bring it so far and then hike up the hill! Also, they have a little box that you can put your tray in when finished so they don’t have to bother you when they pick it up. Very clever! The main pool was very busy and lounge chairs were taken quickly in the morning. People seemed to enjoy the swim up bar and it held a definite party atmosphere. Again, I think the attitude of the bartenders encourages it. (Bartenders are very accommodating…if you want a stronger drink, they are happy to oblige!) However, we preferred the “quiet pool”. The views from some of the lounge chairs on the lower levels were amazing and it held a more tranquil vibe. Also they have waiters coming around taking drink orders! (In contrast to wine…they have a great selection of liquor!) We noticed that most people didn’t tip but we consistently did. When you are treated so nicely and with such a wonderful attitude, it’s a pleasure to. The shuttle drivers were especially appreciative and they really earn it. (They all get out, come around, open the door and make sure you safely enter and exit). Shuttles were timely. Shout out to Nelson who quickly learned our name and made you feel so welcome. Also shout out to Steven at the pool bar who made it a point to come over and engage us in conversation. Seriously, the employees were so warm and positive that, although I was sore after the fall and my husband suffered from some sort of stomach issue, their friendliness kept our spirits up! Finally, as mentioned in other reviews, this is a very hilly resort. The shuttles are sometimes, probably MOST times, a MUST. And many of rooms require lots of steps up to your room even after you get there. If you are in good shape it’s not a problem, but I would think twice before bringing grandparents or depending on your age, your parents. ;-)

Costa Rica's best kept Secret!
From check-in to check-out and everything in between, this was such an incredible experience. Highly recommend paying extra for the Preferred Club - it was outstanding in every way. The restaurant options were so numerous, with a welcome variety of cuisine. The food was top class, the service was impeccable and the views were breathtaking. With a continual slate of activities and round the clock attention, we didn't want to leave!
