A wonderful week at Secrets- overall it was a very positive experience. Great food especially Oceania and Windows. Great service- the staff are all very helpful and friendly. The beach was gorgeous and we enjoyed swimming in the warm, turquoise ocean. A highlight was the romantic dinner on the pier and snorkeling on the reefs. Go to El Cielo beach- gorgeous. Cons- it’s a tired resort. Needs updating. We had an ocean view suite and the bedroom was in a separate room that was barely lit. Very dark. There is a terrible smell of mold or mildew in the bedrooms and elevator that is off putting. I would probably wait until they renovate to go back but I would definitely go to Dream's which is their sister property next door. Also loved the hydrotherapy at the spa- worth the price.

Our room made the difference
Our beach front Room (114) made all difference. The views were the best and the location was fantastic! The pool and ocean were literally steps away. I had my own chairs and loungers which meant no fighting for chairs and towels at 6:30 am every morning. The beach service was awesome and our waiter took very good care of us from 10-5pm our entire trip.

Overall the experience was okay. I was very worried after reading all of the negative reviews. The resort does need updating. The food was okay. We liked Gohan and Bordeaux the best for supper. Bordeaux also has breakfast on certain days but because we were diving we ate at Market Cafe most mornings. We loved eating lunch at the pizzeria and our sever was Yurianna, she’s so sweet! Speaking of diving we used Salty Endeavors and they were amazing. There is a dock usage fee of $10 per day per person that we didn’t know about. Our bed was very comfortable. We also had pretty good housekeeping. The person who stocks the fridge and snacks is different from housekeeping. I didn’t know that so I didn’t know to leave tips for both until after a couple of days. There is a musky smell in the room. We brought air fresheners and that helped. The pools are below the skimmer. My husband thinks the pool pumps are bad and that they drain and refill all the time since they are pretty chilly. Beach is beautiful. Staff was great. We probably won’t go back but I won’t say never.

Mar 08, 2025Amazing on-site snorkeling. Overall a great vacation destination!
Snorkeling off the Secrets Aura beach was amazing. So many different types of fish! Definitely recommended if you like snorkeling. Service Staff were all friendly and helpful if needed. Food was overall good with a nice variety. Breakfast buffet had a good variety. Oceana Breakfast was the best. Did not eat at Windows. Bordeaux had an event dinner buffet outside that was amazing. And their regular dining food options were delicious as well. 24H room service was easy and great... you can't go wrong with midnight nachos! Hotel events like karaoke, Oscar viewing party, water aerobics and all that stuff was nice and varied and fun. Beach needed a bit more seating but that's not too uncommon for most resorts I think. Great trip!

Staff was very efficient at Secrets Aura Cozumel!
Newly renovated was over exaggerated. Luz, Vicky, Omar, Arbey, Miguel and Bruno were very friendly, gracious, knowledgeable and helpful staff members on our stay. Beach and Sea was gorgeous. Pools extremely cold. Amstar recommended excursions were great.
