Amazing Staff!
Overall, very nice trip. Not as great as some other Secrets Resorts, but the staff were all amazing. In particular the entertainment staff, especially Arbey Lopez! He got me involved in activities, made sure I knew what was going on, and even helped out with a small difficulty to make my stay perfect! He really was the most outstanding staff member. The hostess at the Marketplace and Bordeaux were also great!

Come for the beautiful views and great service
I have mixed feelings about this resort. First of all, the ocean views from the beachfront at the resort are marvelous! Turquois an azure from sunup right up to the amazing sunsets. Cozumel is laid back, and we felt safe exploring the town and the beaches around the island. The staff here excels, and the great service is a reason to visit. Our UVC concierge, Lesly was low key and was attentive to our many requests even when she was off the clock. Amber also went out of her way to find me to make sure my requests were attended to. Arbey is the Entertainment Director, and he checked in on my group daily, and made sure we participated in the many events happening daily, and each evening. The dining services were also up to par. We particularly enjoyed the Oceana, an open-air sit-down restaurant with the best view of the water. The staff there was really great. I brought a large group of ten with me. Sophia arranged several dinner events for us, including a special night at the French restaurant, Bordeaux- special thanks to Pedro and Fernando. It wasn't all great though. Everyone in my group was not happy with their rooms. Several of the rooms flooded on rainy days and one of the rooms had mold. In the end, the staff worked hard to get everyone into better rooms, so the week wasn't totally lost. I would recommend checking into this before your visit.

Sixth and last time sadly
The title of the review says it all. I gave it a two because most of the staff is friendly and tries hard; otherwise i would have given it a one! Luckily we were meeting friends there we met when we were all there 3 years ago and had a good time with them; however, even knowing it was low man on the totem pole as far as Secrets go it was still quite disappointing to see how poorly things are kept now. Food was hit or miss and not as good as we remembered it from past visits. Our room was Ok as far as rooms go, but they all are quite worn and showing lots of wear and tear and it wasn't kept as clean as in the past. Getting a wash cloth became a joke among everyone we talked to at the resort( i got two the whole 9 days) and I didn't meet a single guest that had hot water for a shower the entire time I was there and taking a cold shower in a room you had to keep chilly so it didn't feel damp and humid was not fun!! Getting a beach towel was also quite an event and some mornings if you were up at the crack of dawn you could get some and other days you were out of luck until late afternoon ...maybe in time to stash one for the next day. Someone went around every night with a blower blowing sand around and making lots and lots of noise, but as far as chairs and tables getting actually cleaned around pool or at beach yeah that didn't happen except for a quick blow from the blower. I took a picture every day of the steps going into the infinity pool and the sand pile just grew and grew daily the entire 9 days. Saw them kinda skim the pool and lazy river twice for brief periods. Saw minimal to no gardeners this trip and saw dead palm fronds just fall down on people walking along paths. Grass was ridiculously long and a gardener came around and "mowed" down an area near the entertainment schedule sign with a weed eater and never mowed anything else. Weeds everywhere in the flower beds and tiles falling off the walls of the pool everywhere and mold on the pool ledges and front of most rooms and buildings. Wires in the pool where there should have been lights with their ends electrical taped. Three years ago they were painting the building while we were here ,but obviously no one has washed them since. I hate to be so negative but every single person we talked to felt the same way as we did. We love love love Cozumel. My husband likes the diving and we love the snorkeling and as much as he likes having the pier there to get on the boat and how much we love snorkeling in front of the resort we won't return to Secrets unless we read that things are changing and it gets a face lift and cleaned up. We paid for adults all inclusive preferred club and one morning there was a two year old at breakfast and most days people came from Sunscape and Dreams and used the pool and ate and ordered drinks and no one asked them why they had an orange towel or where they were staying. There were no perks for preferred club this time around. Food in lounge was the same as everywhere else. Liquor was ok but not high end in any way shape or form. When you asked for something they had an excuse why it wasn't available. No one checked at the preferred pool if anyone was preferred and I highly doubt everyone eating at Oceana for breakfast was preferred club. Very very disappointing. We talked to people at Sunscape and Dreams and most of them won't be returning either and Dreams is basically new but very limited as far as most Dreams go. Someone there reported their shower just quit working in the middle of the shower and his huge group of people who have been coming for years won't be returning. On a side note.....Stayed at Sunscape in Curacao last year in preferred club and had a mechanical issue with the room that they couldn't fix while we were in it and they bent over backwards for us and gave us the penthouse. The bartender at preferred club was very careful to let people who weren't preferred club know they couldn't get a drink from him and weren't supposed to be at that particular pool but he did it in a respectful way. There were definite issues there with food and staff as well but we figured it was Sunscape which really is low man on the totem pole for AM properties but it sounds like Hyatt needs to step up and make good changes not bad changes!! Why would you take over resorts to run them into the ground? Come on Hyatt get on the ball!!

Older Resort but Good
The staff were wonderful & always cheerful! The resort is older, rooms were beautiful however we did have to wait approx. 45 mins for our room once we arrived. I found the resort confusing to try & get around or locate where the restaurantsars were. Unless you are a "Preferred Member" you can only have breakfast & lunch at the Market Cafe, dinner you can access all the other restaurants. The Manatees Pool was low on water & should of had 2 more feet; you could only use 1 out of the 4 water slides into this pool as there was barely any water flow in the other 3. Beach towels were hard to come by. The Manatees Pool had iguanas which were great to see & have walking around however you had to watch where you stepped as they left piles of poop that were not cleaned up during the day. The beach area by the pier would get waives of sewage smell & this smell also would surface in the bathroom sink in our room. To find out what was happening at the resort you needed to download their app but this was not always accurate. The entertainment we did get to see were excellent shows. Overall, I would go back to this resort if i was looking for a very quiet atmosphere.

Excellent!
The staff was incredible, especially Arbey every day being that bright shining light to make the day great! It was a great vacation for my husband and I. One of the best memories will also be the iguanas by the manatee pool always giving all the guests great entertainment.
