Hard to book a restaurant
I don’t know what’s so hard to get all information right at one place. We ere first advised that we can make reservations via the app. When we couldn’t find anything available via the app, they said it’s only allowed 24hours in advance. It still doesn’t work, they said it’s from 6am. It still has nothing available, they said 12 midnight is the time to start. I am here two days and I haven’t reserved anything successfully yet.

2.5-star resort on a 4-star property. Beautiful grounds, but very inconsistent in terms of staff, food, & service.
TLDR: This is a “4 star resort” with 2.5 star amenities, food and service. One word for this resort “inconsistent.” One day I felt I had great food, housekeeping and service and the next I had the complete opposite experience. That went back and forth for 5 days. The property is well manicured and cared for. The rooms are dated but comfortable. The food is meh at best. Diamond Club is worth it for dinner reservations only. The staff didn’t go out of their way. Overall, this is a great value resort for children and families and friends. Your dollar will go a long way with a large group. I would not take a couples holiday or honeymoon at the Royalton or Royalton Splash. Pros: Houskeeping, the beach, water park, and monkeyland were highlights of the trip. Cons: Check In, Staff Service, Food, Food Poisoning Long Version: I am fairly well traveled but this was my first experience with an all inclusive and I must say it was kind of like joining a cult or a fraternity and being hazed for the first 2 days while you learn all the rules by yourself. (And there are many rules or tips/tricks to enjoying this all-inclusive). Im a single mom and took my son to meet up with 2 other families of close friends. By day 2 I had the lay of the land and felt like I’d been brought into the club. I knew what to do, where to go for the things I needed, but prior to that I was a little shell shocked. Pros: Access to 2 Resorts - it was nice to be able to pop back and forth between the resorts for additional food options. We were in building 29 which put us right between the two properties so we could walk daily. The Room Itself: The room was large & comfortable. These are not 5 star luxury accommodations. I knew that going into this. The buildings and rooms are a little dated, but the beds were comfy, we had access to what we needed and a fairly large room for 2 people. Housekeeping: Our housekeeper did a great job for the most part ensuring our room was tidy, beds made and new towels daily. Beach: The beach was actually nice and we were able to find chairs in the front each day. It probably helped we had diamond club beach access but honestly you couldn’t tell the difference. Water Park - we had a great time at the water park despite one of the slides being out of order. The parents and kids all participated. Monkeyland: we did monkeyland on our last day and it was such a fun time for the kids and the adults enjoyed the monkeys too. This experience getting off the resort property was much welcome. I’m not used to being stuck to the property Cons: Check In Experience - After an almost 12 hour day of flying and feeling pretty gross they took our luggage at the door and I figured out how to get to the diamond club lounge where 5-6 other families waited to check in. The process was a cluster. The woman had a stack of passports and just called names when it was your turn. We had a tour of the property and this was the second time out of 3 times I was asked “where’s daddy?” “When’s daddy coming?” “Are we gonna meet daddy on the trip?” I don’t like people knowing I’m traveling alone with my child as a female so this made me pretty uncomfortable. Our luggage wasn’t delivered for 2+ hours so we couldn’t go to the pool or do anything during this time. Breakfast/Lunch Options - other than the buffet your breakfast and lunch options are limited to room service and a few snack bars. BRING SNACKS AND QUICK BREAKFAST OPTIONS. Restaurants/Food - This is where the Diamond Club came in handy. I had no idea about the reservation thing so I just walked up on night one and was just told NO and the door shut on me. Our butler was able to get us into most restaurants after that first day. The food was meh just about everywhere with the exception of Zen and Under the Sea. Extra points for the Mexican Cantina because our waiter was the best staff member I encountered the entire trip Staff - The staff was pleasant despite the language barrier but I didn’t feel like anyone went out of their way but they were all very friendly. Butler - Carlos was helpful when needed but didn’t go out of his way. I reached out for dinner reservations or when I needed something I didn’t have. FOOD POISONING: We took a lot of precautions in this area and my son still came down with it. This comes with the territory and we were prepared. I packed every stomach remedy. But my son went down hard on day 4. Diarrhea, and then vomited profusely from 10pm to 3:30am. A staff member did come change the sheets and left me several more very quickly after I called and delivered disinfectant spray. PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH THE FOOD. You could tell most of the food here was prepped safely on the property but it’s smart to avoid raw vegetables, fish and water. Overall, worth it for the price point. But go in with low expectations. We had a great vacation and made good memories. My son enjoyed his first experience out of the USA despite the food poisoning.

Terrible
We have been to the Royallton in Jamaica …. Loved it. We thought we would try punta Cana for a change and it was terrible. Our butler was amazing but the resort was lacking! See pics below. Food was not good. For you vodka club soda friends. No club soda at the main pool bar :(. So many guests sick- 4 of my 7 vomiting and more.. met 4 other families with the same issues.. we actually lost weight at this all inclusive. Leak in my daughter’s room. They took the ice bucket that was catching the leak in the ceiling, filled it with ice, and used her yeti cup to catch the water dripping from the ceiling. ., disgusting 🤢 first vacation we all wanted to leave.

Maybe a 3-Star.
This was our first time staying at a Royalton and expected a lot more. Food: The wait staff in buffet just stand around, I had to go up to them to ask for coffee and water. One of the waitresses spilled water all over the table at the buffet one night, didn't seem to really care either. Food at the buffet is pretty basic. Not much a selection as some of the other resorts we've been to. Staff at the Hunter restaurant however, was awesome! The food was good and they were very nice and service was extremely professional. We also ate at Grazie, one of the Italian restaurants, the food and staff there were horrible. Beach - The burger was probably the best thing on the menu but everything was pretty good. Beach staff was friendly. Butler Service: Our butler was Romeo, he needs proper training, he was not good at anything, he served no purpose to us, he couldn't answer basic questions we had, we had to figure out everything on our own, which defeats the point of having butler service. He was MIA most of our trip, we did however see him at the buffet and chilling at the beach bar a few times. He did show up at the end of our trip, we believe looking for a tip. Rooms: Our initial room had two double beds (this was a couples vacation) and the washroom was very dirty. The shower looked like it had not been cleaned in a long time. There were also nails sticking out of the walls where pictures probably used to be and the coach had white stains on it. We did complain and the Sunwing representative made sure we were moved to a better room with a King size bed, bathroom still was not the cleanest. Beach: Very nice beach, hardly any seaweed. Entertainment: Not very good. Foam party was more of a Mr. Bubbles party. Nightclub: DJ played what he liked. Pools: Tiles were missing, even in our swim up room tiles were breaking and coming loose. Concierge: Lois was awesome, if it was not for him we would not know anything about how to use coupons. He basically did the butlers job. He helped get us into restaurants etc. Diamond Club: Waste of money. The ladies in the Diamond Club section , also useless and could not answer anything, not sure if they didn't understand or they just didn't care. The waitress in the diamond club was excellent. Bars: Bartenders were all pretty good. Choice of liquor was a little unclear as to what diamond club was allowed to drink, but they did have a good selection. Overall: This is more of a 3-star hotel. I would not go back. Diamond Club is a complete waste of money. A lot of the staff do not speak English, most of the staff look like dear in headlights if asked a question. Wait staff are lazy and were seen chatting with each other a lot. They also try and push their packages on guests which is also a total rip off. The $600 in coupons also a rip off. This resort needs a lot of work and staff need a lot of training. Checking in took an hour and we were not greeted with a cocktail or even basic manners when we arrived. Once again we did not know who our butler was and no where around. The man at the front desk checking people in was super slow and could not answer questions, basically told us to come back the next day and ask. If you're looking for luxury and a nice vacation, go somewhere else.

Don’t stay here
I wish I paid attention to the previous reviews. This was the worst experience our family has ever had at any type of resort or hotel. Do not recommend at all. Completely disorganized, a disaster from check-in to trying to find a place to eat. Our room had no electricity shortly after checking in, after a long day of international travel with kids. No one at the front desk could help or resolve any issues. There was always a line of other unhappy guests waiting for a manager.. who was always unavailable. We were supposed to stay 4 nights and had to leave to another hotel after the first night. 0/10 recommend.
