  Okayish Punta Cana Resort

  We've just returned from a family vacation to Royalton Punta Cana with 3 rooms. The resort is beautiful and located right on the beach. We were very happy with the location of this property. The staff is friendly and the rooms are nice. Our only issue with the rooms were that all our showers leaked through the doors and flooded our bathroom floors. Our major complaint about this resort is that the food leaves much to be desired. A la carte restaurants required reservations but we were never sat at our reservation time nor did we order our food within an hour of that time. We had to appeal to guest services to help us secure dinner reservations for our family of 9 as the app never worked right for us. The food tastes good but nothing wow'd us! The buffet is mediocre and didn't even have local cuisine to try which was a disappointment. You have to watch the meats as some were undercooked while others were so overcooked. Bacon especially, half of it would be raw while the other half burnt. The scrambled eggs at breakfast were so runny that we never saw anyone eating them. Most of your meals are spent at the buffet as the a la carte are only open for dinner. And it seemed at lunch time you could only get a burger to eat anywhere. The bartenders were mostly friendly but some seemed annoyed. Felt like you never got the same quality of drink. They all made them a different way. Overall, our family of 9 still had a fantastic trip together despite the food situation.

  Great Experience

  I had a great experience. I was nervous at first because of some of the questionable reviews, however, for me none of those were true. We had Antonio as our butler and I don’t think I could go there again if I didn’t have him as my butler again. He was AMAZING! He was very warming and super helpful. I would get a text on WhatsApp from him every morning explaining all the restaurants and activities that were open that day. He even also helped me with my Spanish. Everyone was very helpful and welcomed my efforts in trying to communicate in Spanish. The employees all were very friendly towards me and my family. Our rooms were very clean and the food was great. I definitely plan on going back again.

  Good Visit to Royalton Punta Cana (Diamond Club/Hideaway Room)

  Stayed here for a week in late February 2025. I would give it 3 1/2 stars but that's not an option. Our room was at the Hideaway as part of the Diamond Club. We spent more time at the big resort and not a ton of time on the HIdeaway side of things (building 3 is a great location). So here goes our honest review: Rooms: Our room was great. Bed comfy, minibar stocked daily, clean room and attentive housekeeping staff. Our room attendant even came by in the evenings to see if we needed additional towels, etc. No complaints. Even at 75 degrees, our room felt cold. We were on the ground floor of building 3 with a view of hedges that separated us from the main pools. Noise was not an issue for us; we never heard our neighbors. Staff: Most were excellent. We had a butler that took care of our dinner reservations and any other needs we had. Staff interactions for the most part were friendly and always willing to assist us. Beach: Beautiful beach area but was very crowded. We opted to reserve a cabana for several days on the diamond club side. You do have to reserve these and they run $75-$99/day. Each cabana was serviced all day by attendants, including lunch and drinks. They kept our water and beer buckets filled with beverages and ice all day. Shoutout to Luisa. She was so kind and took great care of us. Cabana also comes with 3 lounge chairs and was about the only way to have unobstructed front row beach views. Highly recommend doing this. Cabanas are close together and was fine except when we had smoking neighbors. Capacity is supposed to be only 4 but we had groups of 6-7 on each side of us, so that definitely made it feel more crowded. Wish they had enforced the capacity rule. We did spend a day at the Hideaway Beach area and enjoyed that (maybe even more than our cabana depending on the day). All in all, beach area was beautiful. Just crowded since it serves essentially 3 resorts (Royalton, Hideaway, and Splash). Lots of kids. Pool: Maybe spent 1 hour in the pools. Seemed fine, but not enough to offer an opinion. Hideaway pool was nice and no kids during our time there late in the day. Meals: We had a few reservation only meals. While Hunter (the steakhouse) was good, my favorite meal was at the Mexican Cantina at Splash. Hibachi was fine. We only ate at the buffet once at breakfast. It was super loud in there and we just didn't enjoy it. Food was typical resort fare. We ate at Dorado 3 times and this was probably the most disappointing place because we had read good reviews. This is odd to say, but what you see on the menu is not what you get. On more than one occasion they were out of food items or just didn't bring us the entire meal. App menus did not match what was offered in the actual restaurant. Servers seemed to not know what was on the menu. One meal, we walked out after waiting 30 minutes for our food as others that came after us were served and left while we still had nothing. With such a short menu, this should never be the case. We did not use room service. Overall impression: It's a nice resort. Beach is the best part, food was just okay. Some really hard working people here. Be sure to tip them. They often work 10-12+ hours a day for 12 straight days with 3 days off and commute from an hour away. We took a lot of 1s and 5s with us and then larger tips for our butler, housekeepers, and servers at the beach. We did take our own insulated cups and straws that the resort would put our drinks in. Entertainment was good.

  SCAMMED AT THE ROYALTON

  I AM 83 YEARS OLD. I ESCAPED ALL THE TELEPHONE AND ON LINE SCAMS IN CANADA ONLY TO BE SCAMMED BY THE ROYALATON RESORT. I BOUGHT A $200.00 TICKET TO THE SUPERBOWL GAME . FOR THAT PRICE I WAS YELLED AT, DISREPECTED, RECEIVED ONE DRINK AND WAS EXPECTED TO SIT ON A BARSTOOL!!!! I WANTED MY MONEY BACK AND THEY WOULD NOT RETURN IT. I SPENT TOO MUCH OF MY PRECIOUS VACATION TIME {WHICH I WILL NEVER RETRIEVE} TRYING TO GET THEM TO RETURN MY MONEY ONLY TO BE LIED TO SOME MORE.

  Beautiful resort and our butler ~Lenny Martinez was fantastic. He made our trip! The service other than Lenny and a few others is not very good. Santa in excursions, Leavy in the lobby bar, and Erika on the beach were great. The food is good at a few places. Zen, Mexican was good and the DC BBQ was fantastic. Italian was ok but our service was awful. Other than that the food is sub par, and the buffet is awful and cold. Cleanliness is lacking in the rooms. Management is lacking everywhere. If it was not for the beauty, and Lenny it would have 2 stars.
