Randy our diamond club butler is amazing

Resort was beautiful and Randy our butler I would rank above 5 stars if I could . He was sooo attentive and helped our family with any needs that we asked. Reservations were made for multiple families together and he was so polite . The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because the food was not the best and deserved 4 stars. We stayed in the 2 bedroom chairman suite swim out which was beautiful !

OK - not amazing, not horrible.

We arrived home last night, and I will say that we won’t likely be back. It wasn’t a BAD trip, it just wasn’t mind blowing. This was our first experience at an all inclusive resort after having cruised for most of our vacations, and I can say that the food/service/amenities/entertainment on cruises is significantly better. We couldn’t find a cruise that worked with the dates we had available, so we tried Royalton Bavaro. Pros - we were DC, so we did have butler service. Gerlyn was lovely and very helpful - he made all of our dinner reservations, and took care of ensuring that our other reservations (FlowRider, pool cabana) were taken care of as well. He checked in with us each morning and made sure that we were restocked with snacks and drinks, and anything else we needed. Food at Rio was our favorite - flavourful, tender, and juicy! Drinks were good - machine made drinks like pina colada and daiquiris were sometimes pretty watery, but blended ones (the passionfruit daiquiri was my favourite) were always good! Swim out room was great - kids loved it! Lazy river was good, but the bar was always really busy. Cons - the food pretty much everywhere except Rio (or basic burgers/fries) was not good. Cannelloni at Grazie was terrible, and steaks at Hunter tasted like the charcoal was old and smoking too much - all we could taste was charcoal. Breakfasts were just meh. Custom made omelettes were good, and I liked the corn muffins, but there wasn’t much else that was great. Service was also lacking - my daughter never received her meal at Grazie, and half of the time, if you approached a bar, the bartender wouldn’t even acknowledge you. (No, it’s not because they were busy with other customers…at least not always…it was often because they were chatting or joking around with other staff) Room definitely had a musty/mildew smell. Leaving the sliding door open with the screen closed seemed to help, but it means the AC won’t run. The resort in general feels run down and in need of some TLC. All of the rooms in our block (building 14, 1st floor) were getting new pull-out sofas, so that’s a bonus if you’re going to be in that building in the next little while. Biggest complaint - when my son was swimming in one of the pools, his knee banged against the pool wall. On the wall there was a sharp broken tile, and it ended up slicing his knee open. We saw a lifeguard to get it cleaned up, but it wouldn’t stop bleeding so we were sent to the resort clinic. From there we were sent to the hospital as he required stitches to close the laceration. It’s healing well and our hospital experience was positive, but this really negatively affected my son’s trip as it limited the things he could do for the remainder of the trip. He was SO excited to try the FlowRider, but he wasn’t able to do so due to the risk of reopening cut/stitches on his knee. The resort offered to pay for his stitches, but we had insurance that covered the cost so we asked for the resort to reimburse us for the $90USD taxi ride. They agreed, but only if we signed a disclaimer. When I saw the disclaimer, I realized that it let the resort off the hook for any injuries, and also included a non-disclosure clause. I refused to sign, so they refused to reimburse me. We did report the injury, but nothing had been done to fix the broken/sharp tile as of when we left yesterday afternoon. We found the exact tile that caused the laceration, but the lifeguards didn’t speak English, and nobody from the resort/management came to follow up. Made me wonder if this had happened to others and they couldn’t discuss because they signed the waiver which required them to remain silent on the experience. All in all, it was an OK trip.

    Great overall experience

The service everywhere was great, specifically Randy our butler and Roberto. The beach is beautiful and there are many great pools. There were also a variety of great restaurants. It was an overall great experience and is fun for the whole family.

Pedro was the best butler! Got us great dinner reservations and always responsive! Had a great vacation. Food quality was mixed but the activities were great. Lots of things to do every day. My family had a blast. Diamond club perks are worth it

    Great resort!

Resort is great. Lots of pools. great beach . staff is excellent. we had the best butler his name is Jorge. Best bartender at the DC pool was Christian by far. All the bartenders were excellent, super friendly , super willing to help you decide which tropical drink would you like. Food is OK. IMO we don’t go to all inclusive for 5 star dining. Best dinner I thought was at the Zen Teppanyaki restaurant. Some of the service is a bit lagging at the restaurants. Lazy river was awesome. Bring your own floats. Leave them when you leave. The shows at night were entertaining. The best show by far was Queen and the fire show . The white party was OK was hard to really see because they’re on the flat beach , would’ve been better if the performers were on a stage. We were DC and loved all the amenities that we were entitled to. Would definitely go back.
