Excellent experience at Royal Lahaina
Great stay at Royal Lahaina! We traveled as a party of 7 (grandparents, parents and 3 kids) and had a suite for our family and a separate room for the grandparents. It was the perfect home base and we would definitely stay here again. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean, and amenities were not crowded. Loved the easy beach access, amazing view from our room, and loved the daily breakfast and resort credit that we got with our Costco package. We did the luau on site and had a great experience there as well. Our family absolutely loved our Maui vacation—-it was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation and the royal Lahaina was a great home base. I researched so many hotels and love the value of this resort.

Bungalow paradise experience
The bungalows were a first time experience for us and we fell in love with the feeling of home with a view of everything from the golf course to the sunset. Outdoor porch view and able to walk out on the grass area smelling the fresh flowers and able to take photos with the beautiful landscape surrounding the resort grounds was very soothing and comforting. Having dinner outdoors on the lanai porch made us feel the room was much larger than expected having that extra space allowed us to extend out with a paradise view.

Extremely Disappointing Experience at Royal Lahaina Resort, Maui
Extremely Disappointing Experience at Royal Lahaina Resort, Maui Our stay at Royal Lahaina was far from the relaxing, family-friendly vacation we expected. We were two families (4 adults and 4 kids), and what we encountered was some of the worst customer service we’ve ever experienced at any hotel — especially at the breakfast service. On Day 1, we requested 3 glasses of hot milk for the kids. Later, we asked for one more glass, and the server rudely responded, “Please order in one request. We can't serve you hot milk again and again.” Fair enough, we understood and respected the request. From the next day onward, we made sure to order 5 glasses of milk at once to avoid any issues. However, things got even worse. On Day 4, when we asked for 5 glasses, the server snapped back, “You will get only 3 glasses of hot milk. Finish this milk first, then we’ll get you more.” This felt completely unreasonable, and even humiliating — especially considering the previous days’ instructions. There seemed to be no clear communication or policy among the staff. To make matters worse, the server later returned to our table and condescendingly asked, “Did you finish your milk or not?” For a resort where we spent over $4,000 for 8 days, this was simply unacceptable. As if that wasn’t enough, on Day 3, my daughter took some noodles at the buffet but didn’t finish them. To avoid wasting food, I packed the leftover noodles in an empty cereal bowl for later. Shockingly, the server confronted us loudly in front of other guests, accusing us of stealing noodles from their buffet! She spoke so loudly and aggressively that other guests turned to stare at us. It was deeply embarrassing and completely uncalled for. Frankly, it’s disgraceful that a resort of this stature — charging premium prices — chooses to harass paying guests over trivial matters like milk portions and leftover noodles. The staff’s conduct was unprofessional, and our overall experience felt like a complete waste of money.

Royal Lahaina is a great bang for your buck
This resort is perfect if you want a lovely stay but don’t want to spend an obscene amount of money. Booking through Costco, we got free breakfast buffet with every morning (a real one, not like a hotel’s ‘continental’), and $50 daily credit we could spend anywhere on the resort. The staff was very friendly and super helpful if you needed it. The only slight downside, if I had to be picky, was that the shower is kind of small in our room. But I am unsure if that is a problem in each room. We had a partial beach view and I’m honestly glad it was only partial. To the left we had a gorgeous view of the mountain and to the right the Pacific Ocean. The rest of the room was nice too.

Wonderful Hawaiian Hotel
We just spent some time at the Royal Lahaina Resort and absolutely loved it. It felt like stepping back into the charm of old Hawai‘i—laid-back, warm, and full of aloha spirit. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a timeless feel, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. If you’re heading to Maui and want a place that’s both relaxing and authentically Hawaiian, I highly recommend staying here.
