Excellent
I have stayed at several RIU resorts primarily in Mexico. The service is outstanding! The resort was very clean. This was my first time to the Dominican Republic. I would highly recommend staying at the RIU. I will never stay at another all inclusive resort but the RIU.

hotel very well located on the beach with many palm trees, the main restaurants are good, spacious, varied and plenty of food.a la carte restaurants poor especially french and steak house ,jerk chicken excellent ,good alcoholic drinks if you know what to ask for,and a lof of drinks in the room.Nice pools and good music. Many thanks to Smil, the best bartender from the beach bar.A lot of clean sunbeds.the main restaurant should be much cleaner and the wait staff much friendlier , all the time need tips.

BEST BIRTHDAY EVER
Honestly I had been skeptical of coming due to the bad reviews but I received the total opposite upon arrival! They even accommodated us with giving us a bigger room. I feel if you’re going to stay at any branch of the Riu you HAVE to know it is a party resort!!!! Don’t come expecting it to be the most silent place ever when it’s adults only. I absolutely had a blast for my birthday, they even placed gifts in my room! <3 I even look forward in returning 🥰

Do Not Recommend
I went as part of a group of 5 people to the Riu Republica Punta Cana for a week. Cannot say I will be back. For context: We went post Christmas and celebrated NYE there. For Food - The breakfast options were okay. The coffee machines had a smell at the smaller buffet option, overall breakfast options were fast but unfortunately the quality control is not amazing. For Lunch - The Jerk Chicken was the best part of the food experience! The jerk chicken from grill was flavorful and consistently a crowd-pleaser. Best lunch options. The Buffet was the optimal choice for dinner which is a terrible indicator as one would expect the speciality à la carte restaurants to shine. That being said, when polled, our group rated the buffet a solid 6 from three people and 5 from one, not amazing but reliable and diverse options. Get what you know is good and you will not be disappointed. Entertainment- Beach Parties: The beach parties were lively and entertaining, adding to the resort’s fun atmosphere. Beaches were rough, not clean but one would expect Life Guards to be present. We witnessed an event where a patron encountered rough waters and had to be rescued by his family members, no life guards on duty, and pleas for help from the staff. Very unfortunate that a resort cannot afford life guards, considering the vast amount of alcohol and food that is consumed on premises. Alcohol was cheap - not surprising but don’t expect amazing selection, you will be find. Service - as you can expect, no tip - poor service. Tip and you will be treated appropriately. Lots for the Hotel to improve: Foul Smell across the various parts of the Hotel, HVAC system in buffets smell moldy. Our group had one room that smelled like a sewer and had to wait 24 hours to change rooms, another had a room with no Air Con for the whole trip. Truly terrible customer service in the managing of this. Our group was disappointed with Gym : It lacked basic equipment, had only one yoga mat for everyone to share, and not enough treadmills, which made working out a challenge. The swimming pools were okay, they didn’t stand out compared to other resorts, poor maintenance and quality of pool experience. The shows and parties ending at 11 PM felt far too early. Extend to 12/1. Extending it would have made for a more memorable night. Charging $20 for a billiards/pool table felt ridiculous The towel shortage was frustrating. Running out of towels at a resort of this size is unacceptable. Mosquitoes: Mosquito repellent is a must. Be prepared, as they’re relentless. One would expect the Hotel would do a better job of managing this. Lastly - if you want to experiment and need a fun trip: go for a short trip (5 days MAX) and go off season. This resort is not equipped for large crowds and more importantly paying for this at off peak seasons (cheaper prices) will ease the blow of poor service. 1.5/5 stars - do not recommend.

Hotel is very Nice and on par with other all Inclusive resorts. Do wish there was more than one a la carte restaurant. over all food was good and we had a very enjoyable kid free stay.
