Mar 25, 2025Overall ok place soecially if you are trying to party.
Overall good. Hispitality excellent. Propert ver nice. Food very bad, but you can make it thru while trying different things. Activity is ok. You almost have to get key card reprogrammed everyday. Restairants are ok, but still testless. Drinjs are no so good excepte wine. The otger stuff test water down. At least you will not get dehydrated. Pools are good and many to chose from.

I really wanted to be writing a good review of this hotel as the previous week we’d had a fantastic cruise on marella explorer2. For a RUI hotel it was way below the standards we would expect. On arrival to our room we were quite happy, it was clean and had everything you would expect in a RUI hotel. We dropped our bags of and went to explore the grounds. The hotel was full of American spring breakers. This was fine, they were all nice and friendly and just wanted a good time. this was fine as we were all young once. The problem with it started early evening, you couldn’t hear yourself speak in the bars or restaurants. It was bearable but very loud. After midnight it got worse with the noise. Shouting and screaming, vomiting in the corridors and banging on doors. The only plus point was in the mornings it was quiet as most were in bed recovering. Security needs to be active at night to nip things in the bud if it gets out of hand. The food was horrendous. It’s was never even warm never mind hot. Almost every staff member didn’t appear to want to be there. Food and broken pottery was left on the floor. Food was labelled incorrectly. If you have a food allergy or are vegan/ vegetarian I’d advise not coming here.

Nightmare Experience – Threatened and Humiliated
My spouse and I booked March 23–30, 2025, via Sunwing faced an abusive extortion attempt at Riu Republica. On March 24 at 23:00, receptionist Roque called us to the front desk, claiming Sunwing didn’t pay to Riu. He demanded we pay for two nights we’d already covered in our package tour guarantee himself. When we refused—rightfully not obligated—supervisor Juan Brito, even ruder, showed up and gave us two options: pay or be thrown out by police, risking a night in jail. They yelled about police in front of 4-5 guests, terrifying us into surrendering our passports. They held them until March 25 11:00am manager Ariel returned them with no formal apology, no compensation—just smug dismissal. This traumatic shakedown ruined our trip. They are obligated to compensate this behavior no matter what although nobody cares about guests. If you seek a stress free vacation please avoid this place with no professionalism at all.

Definitely has a little of everything from the spring breakers to the older generations that want a little relaxation. If you're a person that sleeps early try to opt for the rooms closer to the ocean otherwise the outdoor dj and karaoke scene will keep you up. Food was really good, lot of options. Normally just ate dinner at one of the many buffets, but the jerk chicken shack open for lunch by the beach is AMAZING

It was a very fun spot! I’d definitely recommend my friends and family to stay here for a nice getaway. I will definitely be back soon!
