  Fantastic stay

  We really enjoyed our visit and from the moment we arrived we felt welcome and safe. We lucked out and our airport transfer was 1.5 hour with the included transfer with Nexus. The staff and beach really shine at this resort. The front desk staff was accommodating when we asked to move to a higher floor room. Our room was clean and comfortable and our request for extra pillows was answered within 20 min using the RIU app. The buffet and restaurant staff were amazing and worked really hard to keep us fed and entertained. It was easy to book the al la carts thru the RIU app. Overall the food and drinks were good, there was something for everyone. The selection was wide and did change from day to day. The beach was amazing, clean and calm. There was never a shortage of chairs and drink service was consistent. We found the vendors weren't too pushy and a polite 'no thank you' would send them on their way. We even found the vendors at the tarp market down the beach to be friendly and not pushy. Be sure to find Granny Cindy's tent, she is a sweetheart. We booked excursions with Little Reefer and Scuba Caribe, both companies were comparably priced and provided good service. Having access to the RIU Negril resort down the beach was a nice bonus and a great way to change the scenery and get some exercise on the 15 min walk. The evening entertainment was nothing special, but we don't book based on entertainment. The only complaint we had was the capachino bar only opened at 10am, it would have been nice to grab a stronger coffee after breakfast. It did serve tasty iced coffees and desserts. We chose to use a private transfer to return to the airport and used Anthony Tours (he is available in the hotel lobby), he was entertaining and gave us lots of information of the areas we drove thru and was reasonably priced. We would definitely recommend this property and we cannot wait to come back someday.

  Birthday trip

  I stayed at the Riu Palace Tropical Bay the first week of January 2025 for my birthday. I had done extensive research prior to booking this hotel. For the most part, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Cons Our room smelled strongly of mildew but I was able to change rooms. The new room smelled like cleaning solution but this was better than the mildew room. The toilet was stopped up on one occasion but the maintenance staff came and fixed the problem. The life guard staff act like they didn't want to be bothered. I asked the life guard to help move a beach chair and he act like he had a serious attitude. I wish I would have gotten his name. The hotel must be used to kids playing knocking on doors after 12 midnight. When I called the front door and complained I was told that it must be some kids. The grounds need to be closely monitored if this occurs frequently. Most of the time the food was good, however, sometimes the food was cold. Pros The reservations at the speciality restaurants were not that hard to obtain. I was able to eat at the Steak house two night, the French restaurant and the Italian restaurant. The steak house had the best customer service. Shout out to Mr. Samuel, who delivered my birthday cake on his head. Mr. Samuel was very accommodating. The food at the restaurants were pretty good. I think I like the Italian restaurant the best. There were a lot of choices on the salad bar/buffet. The activities staff was friendly. Shout out to Lady T, who remembered that I was celebrating my birthday. Entertainment was pretty good -The Michael Jackson show was good. I wish they would have had Karaoke more than one night Also, the Riu fitness classes were good I did do the hotel transfer to the airport on the return trip, which saved me some money and the ride was not that bad. It took about 1.5 hours with making one stop. The beach was beautiful. I walked down to the vendors and felt safe Overall, my stay at the Riu Tropical Palace was good. I would not say this is a 5 star hotel. I would give it 4 stars.

  Paradise

  What a great trip! That beach is incredible!! The service was great. Such nice people! The entertainment and swim-up bar were great! Shout out to Oshane!

  Beautiful experience

  Was an amazing experience staff was friendly and helpful steak house was amazing room had a beautiful view and very clean beds were a little hard.. over all experience was wonderful will be coming back

  Had a wonderful time

  Everything was great! Friendly staff and very clean, I enjoyed my stay very well and will be back! The food was good. I wish the cottage cheese would of been on the afternoon buffet as well cuz I like it in my salads.
