Beautiful location
It is a beautiful location and a wonderful stay. Stayed here for 2 weeks and was very pleased with the sea front location. The hotel was clean, and there was always someone about tidying up. The rooms were a great size and again comfortable and clean, and this was a credit to Camellia, who was attending to our room. The dinners were good, but the buffet could have had more variety during the course of the weeks. PetraGay looked after us most of our dinner, and she was amazing, couldn't do enough, always had a smile, and it was so nice to be welcome by her most evenings. We did try the steak house, but we didn't go back as it wasn't the greatest. Breakfast was good, great variety, and we had Amoy look after us most breakfast morning and again a credit to the hotel, always cheerful and happy. There is a sports bar which had snacks 24hrs and was looked after by Marvia, who was great. She kept the are clean and stocked up, and nothing was too much trouble. There are 3 pool areas, again always clean and tidy and spotless. Jelani and Alecia were always about to ask you for drinks and check that all was ok. Matthew, the lifeguard, was another kind and lovely person about the pool. Keeping an eye of everyone and everything to make sure it was safe. The beaches are beautiful and nice to have a stroll down to the little huts for souvenirs. Would definitely come back again

Family Fun
Carrie and I were here two years ago and liked it so much that we wanted to take our adult son and daughter and our sons girlfriend back. They are all in their twenties and we were a little concerned that they might be board but they had a great time. We are going to make this a regular trip.

Not worth the $$
Not worth the $$$ We have stayed at several RIU properties around the world and were genuinely excited for our 6-night stay at RIU Tropical Bay in Negril. Unfortunately, our experience has been far from what we expected. Despite being assured multiple times that a bed would be made up for our children, no one ever followed through. When I attempted to make the bed myself, I was shocked to discover the mattress was covered in black mold and crawling with bugs—completely unacceptable. There is absolutely no way I would let anyone, let alone my family, sleep on that. To make matters worse, my wife found a bug in her salad and was understandably hesitant to eat anything after that incident. It’s hard to believe the many positive reviews, as our experience so far has been very disappointing. When we approached staff with questions about the resort, most seemed irritated or disinterested. Greeting staff in passing often went unacknowledged—about 75% didn’t even respond with a hello. Most interactions felt like we were inconveniencing them rather than being welcomed as guests. While management has been somewhat more responsive, they consistently told us that their hands were tied and only head office could address our concerns. This lack of accountability and resolution was extremely frustrating, especially given the level of service and cleanliness we expected. Our stay was meant to be a celebration for our son’s birthday. I had contacted the resort before our arrival to ask about making it special. Unfortunately, none of the promises made were fulfilled. Even after speaking with management on site and being told “your vacation will start now,” nothing was done. It was disheartening to see other tables decorated for birthdays and anniversaries, while my son’s special day was overlooked despite repeated assurances. The one bright spot in this experience was being offered a refund for half of our stay. We ended up moving to another hotel down the street, which was cleaner, had exceptional service, and staff who were genuinely welcoming—the vibe we had hoped to find in Jamaica. Not to mention, it was also more affordable and significantly better in every way.

Wonderful Holiday
Everything about the hotel was wonderful. Beautiful clean rooms, amazing beach and sea, great food and restaurants good entertainment and most of all, the staff (absolutely all of them) were the friendliest and most welcoming we have ever come across in the Caribbean. We would highly recommend the Riu Palace Tropical Bay.
