    Much needed break!

    The vacation could not have been better. The weather was perfect. The hotel and staff were terrific. And the food and drinks were more then you could ask for. The perfect getaway, and very reasonable.

    Beautiful Views

    All of the staff members were amazing! They were friendly, accommodating, and knew us by name. This was our first experience with Riu and we would definitely go back again.

    Weekend Getaway

    We stayed for an extended weekend. Hotel and amenities were good. Beach was very nice. No issues or concerns with security, which was comforting.

    Two couples, short getaway for five nights.

    The bad, our complaints were, Front desk clerk at check in was not friendly. We arrived at 8 PM. We felt he was very short and abrupt. Did a poor job at explaining the resort and its amenities. One server at the Capuchino bar was VERY un-friendly. Luckily, she was there for only two nights of our stay, and lastly the pool bar server Huge was the worst. Not friendly at all. There are other complaints about him on other media accounts as well. We tip well, but he was really not deserving what we gave him over the five days of our stay. The good. The servers and help at the buffet were super friendly and helpful. Our room maid was super polite and did a good job of cleaning our room. My wife is Gluten free, and this is the worst resort we have visited when it came to gluten free choices. there were basically NONE, other than toast at breakfast and that had to be special ordered and took forever to get. We asked several individuals at the buffet about gluten free offerings and were always told basically nothing. This is NOT a good resort if you need gluten free options! The RIU in Mexico which we had just visited had a separate gluten free area and server for all meals. It's strange how the same brand resort can be so different. One definitely cares and offers a lot of gluten free options, while another has almost nothing. Unfortunately, because of this we will not be returning to this resort when there are so many other resorts around that offer the food choices she needs. The resort was clean, and people were always cleaning, though some areas such as the rooms did need some updating. With the exception of no gluten free, the food was good. We prefer the buffet to the specialty restaurants however we did try the Japanese and steak house offering. Both were ok, not great by any imagination. It cost four of us $30 plus a $10 tip to go to the straw market area which was about a 10-minute drive, so $70 round trip. I felt this was a fair price and it is very easy to get a cab at the resort. Both cab drivers were very friendly and talkative. Overall, this is an average resort and compares on the lower end to all the other all-inclusive resorts we have experienced. I feel the workers are not as friendly at this resort compared to those in Mexico and the Dominican Republic.
