  Great place to stay! I really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and location. I will be back and recommend to my friends.

  Winter Get Away

  We have been to a variety of Riu Palace resorts, and this is the first only adult one that we have been to. This one is the smaller then the other Riu Palace’s we’ve been to, however that is expected with adults only. We enjoyed this resort being a little smaller. Our favourite thing about this resort was the pool being right next to the beach and the beautiful Aqua ocean! There was plenty of activities by the pool from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. There are four different parties during the week that are at the Riu Caribe. (White, Neon in the evenings, and Pink and Jungle, in the afternoon). There are buses that Will take you back-and-forth from the parties, and they leave every 10 minutes and continue for the duration of the party. On the nights that there are not Riu parties at the Caribe, there is plenty of entertainment, with games and shows. The rooms are clean. The only thing missing was an outlet on both sides of the bed. I recommend bringing an extension cord, and a plug-in adapter for your phones, watches, c-pap machines, etc. The entertainment team were all awesome. A couple of our favourite’s were Johnny and Ashanti!!! They both went out of there way to make my husband and I feel special! Their people skills are amazing! These two would be part of the reason that my husband and I return to this hotel! Our pool server,Juan, was also very good! He would remember what you were drinking, and was always pleasant! If you want to go to Walmart, or the market 28, you can take the bus for $20 pesos or $1 US. Go to the front of the hotel to the left in front of the Riu Cancun, is A bus stop, that you can catch the bus to Walmart. The bus driver will announce Walmart. You have to walk a little ways to the market. Ask the front desk for a map to find your way to the market. If you were planning to go to Walmart, and you plan to bring home alcohol, this may be the cheapest place to buy your alcohol. It was considerably cheaper than duty-free!

  Great value for the money

  Ernesto at front desk is more than marvelous. The buffet food is just average but service impeccable. Tgd strawbery margaritas awesome!

  Best ever!

  This is the 2nd time we stay at this location and I must say it is the best this far! It is centrally located to some shopping and clubs so you can walk or take a cab.

  Second worst vacation in my life

  Don’t waste your time or money. Once you’ve arrived they have your money and don’t care at all for the guests. Room temperature is set to 20.5c (68f) and you can’t change it or turn it off. If you like it cold in the small room at all times this is your place. Don’t try the margaritas they consist of tequila and lemon (not lime) ice. They do not use any sweetener or orange liqueur and it is terrible. No homemade or authentic tortilla chips they serve round bagged tortilla chips no salsa to be found just pico de gallo sometimes and stadium cheese (yuck). They offer beer wine and mixed drinks (libre, vodka tonic, soda). Only time you can get fresh juice is breakfast and it goes fast so be early (no later than 8) breakfast is only available till 10 and after 8 nothing is hot or fresh. Buffet and dinner restaurants serve lukewarm food at all stations if it’s supposed to be hot or cold it will be lukewarm. Restaurants only offer beer wine and soda, no mixed drinks in restaurants Ihaven’t seen anyone with frozen drinks except the mysterious mudslide one person had, tried to order one myself and was told they don’t have it so I have no idea who to tip to get one. Toilet takes 3 flushes for success so there’s some environmental practices that are strange. Tried talking to supervisor as I am currently on property and was “victim shammed” everything was my fault I should have ordered a simple mixed drink, the ac must run this cold to maintain the property. No apology No attempt to make it better. Employees will only help if you tip them unfortunately if you don’t pre-tip you don’t get service. Gratuity is earned and 2 employees have received gratitude from me coffee counter and 24hour food room employees are great everyone else lacks customer service and empathy. THAT SMELL in lobby is NO JOKE, just overpowering terrible and stuck in my throat making the bad food flavor even worse than it iis already. The food really is bad. I don’t think cruise ship food is good but this place makes it seem not so bad after all. This is a 2 star resort esp quality of service and that’s generous. The property is aged and worn out but that shouldn’t really be the issue if service exists. Supervisor should be fired for telling a guest it’s their fault the resort is a run down mess with no customer service skills. Concierge experience was no better. Go next door to the 3 star hotel if you want service - it does not exist at Riu Palace Las Americas. The most unique resort chain in Mexico no tortilla chips no salsa no margaritas iceberg cold rooms.
