  Beautiful beach with a nice resort.

  I have a lot of positive things to say about Riu Ocho Rios but defiantly was upset upon getting my room assignment. We paid a little extra for ocean front. When checked in they said they upgraded us to a suite. But when they “upgraded” us they actually downgraded the view we had expected. They only way they would make it right is if we check out of the room we were in by noon and they would check us into another room at three pm. So pack everything up and be without a room for hours. They need to rethink how they label and hand out room. As One would think ocean front would mean on the front of the building on the ocean, not back behind pools and the garden off to the side a bit. The beach is AMAZING! We found it less rocky on one side and the snorkeling just outside of the swimming area was AMAZING! So many fish to see and even puffer fish and sting rays! The one complaint about the beach area was the shower/foot wash. One didn’t really work and the other didn’t work very well so LOTS of sand got tracked up to the pool! The pools were nice! We Preferred the have been named by some as the quieter side as they have an infinity edge. Fun to relax in the pool with a drink and a fabulous view. The bar staff at that pool were so kind and always making sure we had everything we needed! The shadescould use some attention as a lot were broke and didn’t work properly. I am a VERY picky eater with some allergies or intolerances but was still always able to find more than enough to eat. The Italian was by far my favorite restaurant but found the steakhouse to be very good as well! I never made it to the other two because I was so happy with those two! It’s not very clear and no one explained about making reservations at check in so I was thankful I had figured that out by just playing with the app. We had some AMAZING, KIND and hardworking staff looking out for us and doing a fabulous job! Shout out to Fritzboy, Suwayne, Quewayne, and Travis! Nightly entertainment was fun! I enjoyed the beach bash so much! The entertainment staff is so engaging and fun! They walk around during the day chatting and informing people of what the day entails. Shout out to the fabulous Passion Fruit and Kerry Anne! All in all I would say we left very happy with our stay and would visit again just wouldn’t pay the extra to get ripped off on our view!

  Great stay! Great for families.

  This was a vacation that I will never forget! Plenty to do, eat and things to enjoy! My 7& 9 year old loved it! They loved the food, activities and entertainment.

  Ocho Rios Rui

  Hotel is fab , food great never eat same thing twice but then I try everything , evening entertainment one of the best I’ve seen , most staff friendly, customer service need people friendly training , very disabled friendly but good do with a wooden platform across the sand to the sea , Couple thing that went wrong power cut which happens every where , but front desk was so rude when I asked what was happening after 2hrs , I asked because it was the start of tea time and didn’t know how long food had been on heating plate etc and didn’t want to get ill Fire alarm twice one being 3am the lights and sound frightening especially if have children no apology or explanation We would go back to this hotel easy

  Very good!!

  We stayed for 6 nights in February 2025. My husband, myself and our 3 kids (17, 14, 10). We got a Family Room which is located in the back building right next to the water park. No ocean view, not a big deal and we knew that going in. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. One room has a king and the other has 2 queens (although they seemed like over sized queens). Plenty of drawer space and hangers. Housekeeping was excellent and very responsive. All you have to do is use the app to request anything. The first day we requested more pillows and blankets and they brought them very quickly. The beds were pretty firm. Bathroom could have used more towel bars and hooks. We would have been glad to reuse towels but with not many hooks they’d never dry. Highly recommend to download the app ahead of time and make dinner reservations as they book up. The steak place was excellent as were the other restaurants for dinner. It is unfortunate there was only one place for breakfast and lunch as it got pretty busy. There is also Pepe’s jerk chicken 12-5 at the pool which was good. There’s also the sports bar open 24/7 and you can get snacks and whatever you want to drink. The staff were all very friendly and all seemed to be working very hard. They do a nice job. We took a yoga class which was great. Around the pool there’s a bunch of sun shades that were broken so that was unfortunate…especially for those of us that don’t want to bake in the sun all day. Beach was very good! Plenty of chairs and shade if desired. We rented paddle boards a couple of days (free). There was seaweed on the beach in the am but they cleaned it up very well. Beautiful sand and water! We also had a private shuttle from the Montego Bay airport and highly recommend since it’s a straight shot. I can’t really speak on the safety in the area around the resort as the only time we left was for a Blue Hole excursion. Overall it was very good and we would return.

  RIU Ochy

  Lovely hotel, great beach location and lovely sea for swimming. Good that towels are not over every bed before 8am. Beds available at any time really. Good food and plenty of choice
