  Loved our stay there with family of 6!

  We had an awesome trip at the RIU in Mazatlan. Our family all enjoyed it! We had no issues with the food, we have 4 kids aged 7-13 and they all were able to find lots to eat every meal and we only did buffets. We found there was nice variety just with buffets, but also catered to the kids as well with always having chicken nuggets and fries and burgers and hot dogs at lunch and dinner. Maid and mini bar service was great! The entertainment team was great! We did not really use the waterslides - our kids tried them and found them too intense for them so they stuck to the pool and ocean. I think this is the first resort weve had a life guard at the pool and beach which we thought was awesome! The cleanliness was very good minus a few suggestions below. A couple critiques we have that I hope will help the hotel would be to put fans in the bathrooms in new part- toilet room and shower room - we did notice some mold starting in the ceiling of the shower. And adding another Beach Volleyball net would be my reccommedation so more than just 2 teams can play at a time. Overall would visit here again! Or try another RIU resort!

  Wonderful 2nd visit!

  This was our 2nd visit to the Riu Emerald Bay. We hadn't been since 2018 and absolutely loved the new addition. Our family of 5 (children 15, 12 & 10) stayed in the new building in a family suite. The views are definitely better in the tower, but we loved the amount of room in the family suite. Having one bedroom with a king and then another with 2 queens and a pull out was fantastic! The fridge was always stocked and our room was always clean. The app is great for any problems/needs you have- make sure you download it before you go! Our hairdryer wasn't working and I put a request in on the app and it was fixed within 30 min!! We also asked for water and had it quickly! The number of pools and choice was fantastic- we usually ended up at the family pool near the waterslides. The waterslides were not as big of a hit as we thought they would be. Don't get me wrong, they were a nice addition but our kids didn't hit them up as much. They found they hurt their backs when going over the seams. You also are unable to bring food/drinks into the area, so that was a small deterrent for us as parents. There are so many chairs at this resort that you don't have to worry about finding one! We never had to get up early to put towels down, we could just walk down and find them. We saw people cleaning the chairs and umbrellas numerous times during our stay. Our kids had a blast at the foam party- just make sure that you are close enough to your younger kids. Our 15 year old had to put our 10 year old on his shoulders because the bubbles get so high :) Our kids participated in volleyball and horseshoes. Staff was great!! The beach is also very relaxing, although if you go past the rope the vendors will try and sell you things. Our boys went into the ocean to jump waves, the lifeguards are good about telling you when you are out to far or too close to the rocks. You cannot go out very far into the ocean at this resort. We only went to a few night time shows as we had so much fun during the day! The ones we did attend were great! The circus night was really neat. We also enjoyed bingo and Mexican night. We brought cards to play at the tables as well for evenings. As for the food, great buffets with lots of choices. If you can't find something to eat, you are way to picky. We tried something new every night so it never got repetitive, although I could see how people could think breakfast was always the same. We were a little disappointed with the a la cartes, but the food was good. The Asian restaurant was just a buffet. The Italian was a buffet for apps and then your food was brought to you- the lasagna was delicious! Our kids really enjoyed being able to get ice cream whenever they wanted!! This resort is very clean. There were always people cleaning. We felt safe throughout this holiday. We left the resort for a tour and to attend the Alan Jackson show down the beach- definitely recommend! Great vacation- would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to escape the cold!

  This was our second visit to Riu Emerald Bay. The first was pre-Covid pandmenic. The expansion since our first visit expanded the activity, dining and entertainment options. Maid and refreshment service for the room was excellent. The room was well cleaned and bed well made. The mini fridge was well stocked. It may have been because our vacation was first half March, but there were plenty of loungers at the beach, no need to worry about no finding one. Having a Sunday Mass at the resort would have been helpful. My main complaint would be not being able to get anything for breakfast prior to departure. Our airport transfer pickup was scheduled for 6:00AM. We were told by travel reps and staff that the only breakfast option was to get something to eat at the 24hour Sports Bar. Upon arriving at about 5:30AM, we were told there was nothing to eat. Any left from the previous day was cleaned out by 5:00AM and the current day stocks don't arrive until after our departure. Getting accurate information would have enabled us to look for options.

  Amazing Place to Stay!

  I had stayed at a RIU in Puerto Vallarta a few months prior to our stay here and choose to come to the same one because of the amazing time I had. Me an four others stayed at RIU Emerald Bay in Mazatlan for a week and it was amazing! The food was great, service was fast and friendly, and the rooms/hotel in general were clean and well kept. The view from both of our rooms were amazing whether it was from the second floor or the 17th. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are either a group of young adults or a family. They have great entertainment for all and even though the water is not as clear on the pacific side, the beach was gorgeous and sandy.
