Apr 12, 2025Amazing Vacation at RIU Emerald Bay!
Our family of 5 just returned from Mazatlan yesterday, we stayed at the RIU and it was absolutely amazing! The water is rough and not great for swimming, we didn’t spend much time in the ocean though just putting our feet in. Kids loved the water parks, the variety of pools, Kids activities were always happening and anything we needed, the app worked great. Food was great! You could always find something and a variety. The Bamboo restaurant was the best one, so definitely book a slot through the app. The beach is beautiful and we loved that there was a rope so you were not being bothered by locals to buy things. There is a crocodile lagoon on the side of the hotel, we never saw it but there was a warning sign and we spoke to a few locals. Make sure if you’re swimming in the ocean, you are looking at the flags. Jellyfish is the white flag, stingrays are the yellow flag. A few visitors were stung while we were there. There is a local restaurant on the right of the hotel at the end of the beach, Mr. Lionso, ocean front sea food, amazing prices and huge portions! The hotel is very clean, service was excellent! We will definitely return!! If your looking for an outing, walk to the bottom of the resort down to the hat, find Alberto with a red truck, he will drive you into town and back for $700 pesos and we spent the day at the Aquarium, it was wonderful.

Excellent service and the property was immaculate. Rooms, common areas, pools, washrooms were all so clean. The ap was excellent for getting anything you needed from extra towels to more pillows to pop and beer for the mini bar. The bartenders were fantastic. The food was good but not great. Could be more variety and changes from day to day.

Wonderful Resort
We had a wonderful time at this resort. The view of the ocean while having our morning coffee was amazing. The room was always clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were always smiling and very friendly. The resort was clean and lots of loungers at the pool and on the beach. The buffets had a great selection. Planning a return trip.

Great one week getaway!
Last minute trip to Mazatlán, we had never been there. Have stayed at other RIU’s and loved. The beach isn’t great for swimming, similar to Cabo, very strong rip-tide. Pools amazing. Service excellent. RUI’s app didn’t work for us…couldn’t get into specialty restaurants even when speaking to front desk. Buffets & servers amazing…lots to choose from. Our room was immaculately cleaned by Katie.

A wonderful stay and would love to return!
As a family of six it is difficult for us to find a resort to accommodate our family! This was our first trip to Mazatlan and we were so happy with our stay! The resort was perfect for our family and the food was the best we have ever had! We would love to come back and highly recommend this resort to any family!
