  Riu always my favorite and still is ….

  Spring break trip with a 14/13 year old and 74y/o grandmother. I am a Riu fan so decided on this property for the waterpark on-site no additional cost with resort stay ….About 5 or 6 slides suitable for 12+, there is also a separate kiddie waterpark area nearby suitable for toddlers, and good for special needs too . A very kid friendly resort with plenty partying for the entire family !! I believe this Riu is about 5 years old or so so its very fresh and modern. The resort is about a 45min ride from the cancun airport. If book through Riu directly round trip shared transportation included. The resort itself is situated on a beautiful very SWIMMABLE beach !! Seaweed little to none, all clear water !! Plenty of chairs at the beach (no umbrellas) pool chairs and umbrellas of course few in between as ppl get out early to claim them. Theres about about 4 pools with two having adult only areas with swim up bars!! One small let down On arrival im use to being greeted right out of transportation with a drink of some sort be it champagne or mocktail, something , here was nothing. Just went to check in , luggage stored. Resort has plenty elevators . Room 3164 is top tier !! Large balcony ocean front suit, was stunning!! Food, buffet was decent, bamboo (asian cuisine buffet was delightful, no reservations required for any of the speciality restaurants, its first come first serve , i tried the Italian resturant was ok also buffet but have an option to order from ala carte menu via QR code. Some of the same items or drinks offered through out the restaurants daily varied in taste so wasnt consistent flavors. My only other complaint or disappointment was during breakfast . There is not a designated omelet station like most Riu I’ve stayed!! Beautiful grounds for the, most part friendly staff everyone is busy. Nightlife and activities are well thought out and planned with something going on every hour!! I can see myself coming back here.

  Honest Review

  The Rooms plug ins are wore out you have to bend your plugs to make them stay in. The Food in the Restaurants was not very good . Make sure you know where the Elevator is before you accept your Room. You are stuck at the Hotel there’s is no Shuttles or local buses to take you into town just Taxis that are not cheap or an Uber. During the day there is no pool to swim in between the Bars at the pool or volleyball. The pools are not monitored very well there’s Kids and Baby’s in the Adult Pool . People Smoking and Vaping wherever they felt like on the pool deck on their hotel deck wherever. If you want a deck chair you have to get up early and put your towel on a chair then go do whatever I watched chairs sit there most of the day just with a towel or a book on it . There are no umbrella’s down on the beach and the palm trees are still to small to provide much shade . The only Shopping is at the hotel Gift Shop and it’s not cheap . There is no Room Service . The Shows are more for kids than Adults . The Ocean and Beach were nice .

  Great service

  Great time with family!! Beautiful beach and great service! 9 year old son was always entertained. Special shout out to Manolo and Julio the drink cart guys around the family pool! They were so nice and friendly with family and offered amazing service!! Great waterpark also!

  Amazing Vacation

  I was there for a destination wedding and it was by far the best week ever. All staff were amazing and I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the grounds. Willy at the Theater bar was a joy to talk with as was Rene at the pool. Would highly recommend for anyone!

  Fairly Average

  Having been to many resorts in Mexico, I would like to point out that although this resort was fairly nice, it is not a five star resort. I would rate it at about a 3.5. Our room was fairly dated, had bits of mold in the shower, the doors, handles, and walls were grimey, and everything felt lower budget. Also - a lovely surprise is that the shower glass wall is built into the wall that connects it to the bedroom 😅 It is frosted, but if someone gets close to that side of the shower wall, you get a free show. Wonderful for family staying together…Did make for some great laughs. The food was some of the worst I have experienced at a resort in Mexico, although still edible for most, but near the end I struggled to find anything I could still stomach. The entertainment was fairly average and entertained the kids and adults and same for the daily activities. The service was very good at the buffet and restaurants. The best part about this resort is the beach. It was by far the best beach I have seen in Mexico. Overall, it was a nice vacation - nothing overly terrible, but other than the beach, nothing overly amazing. It was a very average resort. I was just surprised at it being advertised as a five star resort and had to adjust my expectations once we got there.
