  Great hotel and staff

  My husband and I stayed at the Riu Dunamar the week of January 6th 2025 and had a lovely time. We’ve stayed at many Rius before in Jamaica and Punta Cana and I can say that they are all very consistent with the great service, good food and very clean properties. Rooms: The room was very well kept, cleaning service was great and the bed was very comfortable. My only complaint is we had a room closer to the main stage and some nights the shows and parties went a little late and the music was very loud. We don’t have any kids but can imagine that if we did it would have been very difficult for us to go to sleep early when the music went on until 11-12pm. Beach: The beach was extremely well kept and very clean. There were servers everyday making sure everyone always had a drink and cups were always picked up. There were police patrolling the beach daily which kept us feeling very safe. My only complaint is there are people that work the beach that are not part of the hotel that offer massage services and after a while it got a little annoying having to turn them away. Riu also has photographers that offer photoshoots on the beach and that also got a little annoying because sometimes it’s nice not having people constantly approach you when you’re trying to relax on the beach. Restaurants: The buffet always has a nice selection of food and most items were very fresh. Food was constantly being restocked so it was very rare that items were missing. The night restaurants were also really great. You can’t make reservations so sometimes we had to wait about 30 minutes but they have a food system where they give you a buzzer so alert you when your table is ready. All the restaurants were very tasty and fresh. Service: The service was fantastic anywhere you went. Very friendly staff, always willing to help you. All in all I would definitely come back again, all my complaints were very minor and expected when visiting an all inclusive Ressort especially during high season when the hotel was fully booked.

  A fantastic stay!

  I just returned home from a week stay with my 23yr old daughter and can honestly say that this resort is fantastic. We found the food, beach, room, and service all top notch and enjoyed ourselves very much. The only downfall that we found was the lull in entertainment between dinner and when the evening show begins. While the saxophone player in the lobby is nice, it becomes a bit of a snoozefest during this time. Having more lively lobby entertainment would create a more fun and tropical feeling. I'd like to single out some servers that stood out for us. Their service was impeccable, friendly and made our days even more pleasant. Jony and Edwar on the beach, Jhoswar in the buffet and Litzi Liliana who was our maid. They all did an exceptional job! I would definitely return to Riu Dunamar and recommend it highly.

  Good stay for the price point

  Pros: The room was very clean, as were the grounds, staff were constantly mopping or sweeping. All the staff were friendly. Our mini bar was always refilled. We had a very loud ceiling fan, a lightbulb out and our air conditioning wouldn't go below 22 Celsius. We never reported it because we were only in the room to sleep and shower. On the 2nd day housekeeping must have noticed and without us asking they must have called maintenance. We came back from a day at the beach and our room was so comfortable and no more noisy fan. Eva, Rocio and Atalia in the buffet were fantastic! Lots of chairs and shade at pools, plus the pool temperature was perfect, not freezing cold like some resorts. Lots of beach chairs, even in the middle of the day. Food in buffet was good. We never had issues finding breakfast or lunch options. We tried the steakhouse, Italian and gourmet place. The chicken at the steakhouse was tender and delicious. I appreciated that in Italian and gourmet both seated you in air conditioned locations. Water slides were awesome, so much fun for both adults and kids. We liked the laid back vibe, no fancy clothes for dinner or standing in line for a reservation time. I wore shorts, sandals and a tshirt, hubby wore a polo with cargo shorts and tennis shoes to all the special restaurants. We generally had dinner between 6 and 7 and never had to wait to be seated. Don't forget to tip, it's appreciated. We tended to tip at the beginning of the meal and found we had excellent service that way. Oh, and the beach is very swimmable. A few waves and very little sargassum both on the shore and in the water, even after some heavy rainfall and wind. Cons: I wish they would make the tequila bar pool space adults only and move the volleyball to the party pool. The seagulls can be crazy and will steal your food if snacking near the pools. It would be nice to have shade on the beach. There are palms, but umbrellas or palapas would be good. I wish the steakhouse allowed seating in the air conditioned space.

  Very clean , we were very pleased with the room cleaning service.

  My family was fascinated by the variety of food and its quality. My children took advantage of many activities organized by the hotel team’s with primes and of cours candys . The beach was very clean but there were days with bigger waves , I imagine it’s like that in this season but we olso took advantage of them . This was the second visit to this hotel and I will definitely be back.

  Family Vacation

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Riu Dunamar. We travelled with family for a winter vacation. The property was beautiful! The check in process was very easy and the staff was super friendly everywhere. We got to know a few of the bartenders and enjoyed visiting them for their specialties. The property and the rooms were very clean and well cared for. Our only complaints were the glass windows between the room and shower, you couldn’t really see through but still a little uncomfortable and the halls could be a bit noisy at night but nothing terrible. The food at the property was just ok but we already expected that so we weren’t disappointed. The Asian restaurant was probably our favorite, it was very good. The drinks are strong everywhere! No complaints there. The nightly games and entertainment were a lot of fun. We felt very safe and comfortable during our stay. I would recommend this property.
