Love Emerald Bay but they gotta do better… food-wise!

I’m very sorry to say this… my wife and I love this place for it’s wonderful people, spectacular location, great service and all the amenities EXCEPT THE FOOD…! Let me explain… we go here every year and for 2025 we decided to go for the “All Inclusive Plan”… sure it’s a lot of money but, heck, let’s give it a try… here is our honest experience for our last two week stay… #1). The food prices are ridiculously expensive… even with the all-inclusive… #2). Doesn’t matter where you eat in the resort the food is always cold… nothing is hot… not the soup, the quasi-fancy dinners at the Bistro, by the pool… if you like cold food you will love the food at the resort… #3. Serving sizes off the menu are tiny… in fact they tell you on the menu… 6 ounces of the protein… c’mon guys… we spent nearly 200.00 per day for the all inclusive (sidebar: we’re non-drinkers) and you only gimme 6 ounces of fish! #4. Okay… I could go on but I’m gonna finish up with only one more comment… some of the food items are downright awful (case in point: the ceviche at the pool)-it’s truly “ground up goo”… good ceviche at the buffet but not at the pool… AND Mazatlan is very proud of it’s shrimp but, if you like shrimp not much available on site… Oh… one more thing… word around the pool is that the drinks are really watered down… just a thought… Here is an idea or two for you to consider (this is our plan): shop for your own food offsite and prepare it in your room… or… cab rides into town are cheep and the food is way way better and more affordable (even with the cab fair) We really do love this place but food-wise they gotta do better…

    Family Mazatlan trip

Beautiful landscape and pools. The spa was fantastic and Yolanda did a great job- I really enjoyed the clay body treatment. Sushi restaurant was the best food there as well as breakfast at the bistro l. Felt safe entire time traveling with young kids

Look closer, it’s changed! dirty, broken, dated - unkept

Must be planning to tear this place down, it’s so run down compared to what this place used to be. At first glance it looks nice, but do t look too close! Dirty, broken, dated … this list is long. Times have changed and there are better options in Mazatlan for sure. Too bad this property has not been kept up, it was special at one time.

    Overall a great experience

The resort is great, low traffic and quiet. The accuracy of the suite dining could be better but it didn’t affect our stay. Poolside service by Julio Vargas was top notch, great to see someone understand guest service! He was attentive and made us feel welcome! Thank you Julio!
