Great week in the sun - Solo Traveller
I've just returned from a solo week relaxing at the Ocean El Faro resort. I got a pretty good deal on the holiday package, paying significantly less than some of the other 5* resorts in Punta Cana, so based on this my expectations were lowered in terms of the quality of the hotel, however the hotel way exceeded my expectations. If you are after a top of the range 5* hotel then this place probably isn't for you, but if you are after a really nice hotel, with good food, good staff, a great atmosphere and nice rooms at a very good price, then look no further. Room - Spacious room - modern and clean, nicely styled, big balcony with a nice view of one of the family rooms. Bathroom was great, really big with a powerful shower, also had a nice jacuzzi bath, only issue was the water didn't get really hot in the bath or the shower. Although I wasn't aware at the time of booking half the hotel is family and half is adult only. I was placed in the family area - there were no rooms left in adult, but I paid an extra $10 a day to use the adult side, which allowed me access to the pools and the adult only bars and eating areas which were nice. Food - Again the food wasn't top 5* hotel quality - however no complaints at all. The main buffet style restaurant had different theme nights, a great selection of food and all really nice. There were also 5/6 al la carte restaurants that could be used as many times as you wanted (3 you need to pre-book, the rest were 1st come 1st served) I went to the steakhouse, Italian and Mexican, all really nice. By all accounts 'Bluemoon' was the best, and very very nice, but unfortunately I didn't pack any trousers, and this was the only restaurant that required long pants to be worn - so maybe next time! Pool/Beach - There were plenty of pools to choose from, and a lazy river with a bar attached to it which I was a regular at. In the adult section there were signs saying you couldn't reserve sun loungers, but people still did. I got to the pool between 7:30-8am and at this time almost all of the sun loungers had already been reserved, so be prepared to get up early if you want a good spot. In the family area I don't think you needed to be up quite so early to reserve a spot. The beach are was really nice with plenty of sun loungers, however the sea was a bit rocky and not the best for wading in. The beach to the left of the hotel was much more sandy for wading in the sea and having a swim however so worth dipping in here if you fancy a swim. Entertainment - Loads on the go throughout the day and night for adults and families alike. There is a lovely bar in the reception that was good to head to on an evening for a few nice drinks, with plenty of people around to chat to. Overall a really enjoyable stay, I would definitely come back and I would recommend a stay for both adult only and family trips. A thoroughly great week!

Great Escape from Winter
Reading previous reviews we were not sure what we would experience. Overall we had a great time, the weather was perfect, room exceeded expectations and staff/service was top notch. We stayed on the El Beso side and also upgraded to privilege status, which we would also recommend. Restaurants are mostly are the family side but otherwise we were adults only. Being privilege, one also has access to a separate restaurant and beach area. Interestingly, the restaurants from other reviews that were highly rated did not meet the anticipated rating while the other lower rated ones, were the best in our view. Meals in the privilege area were the best by far. One disappointment in privilege is it stated that all premium brands are included but there were several brands and wines that were only available at an additional upcharge. While the overall service was good at the resort, our butler Deiby Sanata was the star of the vacation. He took care of us in every regard, arranged all our meals, arranged a shopping outing for my wife and any request/question was answered promptly and usually above expectations. Deiby would also check on us multiple times a day to ensure that all was good and if we needed anything. If you are going to this resort, ask for him as your butler, excellent service and great representative of the resort. Berwin was also our beach "butler" and made sure we had lounge chairs and a beach bed every day. Also ensured that we were never without a beverage. If you can get in his section, you will be well served. Was a very good value for what we paid and would recommend the resort to anyone wanting to try Punta Cana

My experience was overall a 10/10 trip. I had so much fun ran and ran into zero issues with my stay. Coming back soon!
Marielys is awesome she helped us at the beach and provided great entertainment at the beach party on Wednesday. The show was amazing and the food was amazing as well and she helped us with everything. 10/10 stay definitely coming back because of her!

Overall quite nice.
The resort was laid out nicely and overall quite clean. The majority of the staff was very kind and helpful. We were pleased with the size of the room and the food was quite nice with plenty of options to choose from. The only advice I would like to offer is that it is not very convenient for older folks like me and my wife because to find your way around in terms of where things are located and to book dinner reservation you have to rely heavily on using a smart phone or computer. It would be better for us if we could have phoned reservation and had printed material much larger than the small pamphlet we were given to locate where everything was at.
