    Occidental Punta Cana 15 Nov 24 - 23 Nov 24

On arriving with Air Transit, bus transfer included, it was raining then stopped then again and another day rest was sunshine. Rained hard first day arrival though. Check IN - On being served by Danny he told me around 12 pm that the room would be a 2 hour wait which I was understanding and just asked if I could get a ocean view if available or pool view. On waiting about 1 1/2 hour , he suggested a ocean view which was blocked by trees but he was right so thank you Danny and I did tip him, this helped my stay. My Room - I stayed in 13, the elevator broke down few times but was fixed really fast and I did get bites on my arms only so maybe small flies at night outside or maybe room I do not know and I did take mosquito spray but never used so, my fault for not spraying myself. I did not see any bug in the room, on balcony and had hot water, air conditioning and mini fridge with pop, water and mini cans of presidente beer and had no issues with towels. Hotel - I did not try the special restaurants so cannot comment, appreciate that everything is very close and food here is pretty much 24/7. Night food consist of pizza or quesadilla's but you have to walk up steps near stage to get, not good for anyone with a disability but sure they can ask someone for help there. There is few stores available for souvenir's and I did see vendors visit the property once a week i'm told. Few venders on the beach but leave you alone if you say no. Beer was expensive at a store there but drinks are plentiful throughout the resort even many mix drinks. Note : Only downside is bartenders at the bar by the theater mixed them crappy from the bartenders in the lobby so they need to mix them better more training is my suggestion!!! Pool - There is a very shallow pool closer to the beach and one main swim up bar pool which the water is about neck deep as I am 5 '7" so it was nice while drinking my drink. The water was a bit cold like a lake in Canada but once you get in to it you get use to it but it was November so expected. Entertainment around the pool consist of water polo twice I seen and water stretch twice after that and one day they blow foam in the pool. Other that I think I heard bingo by the theater . Nightly Entertainment - Michael Jackson show, dancing shows , Karaoke by the lobby bar and theater seperate nights, Fire show was cool by the lobby bar outside, Spanish music band inside by the lobby bar few times . Excursion: Transit female told me snorkling day or full day and said either was fine so I choose 1/2 day. It is a bit windy there so we went out in the boat and where they stopped to windy for snorkeling and she said get a meal on the boat. The meal was salsa chip and dip lol this is not a meal its a snack. So 60 bucks USD for 1/2 day you may as well went on the fishing boat . I like the ocean being on the water so I was ok either way but did not go snorkeling and ones did jump in did not say much. Drop off for the excursion and pickup was great, I was only one from my hotel and driver made sure I returned very good service. I found the workers there mostly fine, if you say hola they will return the hi in return. Some do not speak to you though and thats fine also. Food - I was there for 8 days so long as I don't starve I am ok , I will say I did like the nightly food though and usually south pizza sucks but the night pizza was decent, surprisingly good. Main dining area, chicken a bit hard and pasta but there are many things to choose from. Now a older couple in a different building had toilet issues so I guess depends on building I do not know. Personally, I would recommend this resort, other then the few rainy days was very relaxing.

    I am not satisfied

In total its not a place I would like to go back again. The staff didn't know any English at all. Every day there were a lot of kids from local sports teams in the hotel restaurant, which is why it was crowded and very nosy. some rooms had cockroaches and the bar closed very early.

Occidental retreat from Ireland in December

Couples holiday. Winter sunshine in The Carribean. Lovely resort. Dining menus need revising. Bedrooms are tired and need refreshing. Our wardrobe doors were very poor.

Awesome experience at Occidental Punta Cana.

We had an awesome experience in Occidental Punta Cana, all thanks to Orestes. He made sure our stay was amazing and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. From the moment we arrived, Orestes provided exceptional service, ensuring we felt welcomed and comfortable. The attention to detail and genuine kindness truly stood out from the staff of this Resort. The resort itself was beautiful, with stunning beaches, delicious dining options, and plenty of activities to enjoy. Our room was clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall comfort of our stay. We highly recommend Occidental Punta Cana, especially if you have the chance to be assisted by someone as dedicated as Orestes. We can’t wait to come back for another unforgettable vacation!

We came to relax and be treated well. We got what we came for and will be back!

We stayed in the Royal Club and we are vacation club members. As always, we were treated like family by Hippolito and his staff. Room service was excellent. Rooms are spacious and clean. The beach is beautiful. Beds are comfy. Overall, service-especially in the restaurant was excellent! We will be back!
