Nice resort, terrible service and lack of variety in the buffets.
If you have never been to a resort and understood that Punta Cana service is typically a bit on the slow side, you may have been OK with this resort. But for seasoned travellers with 9 visits to different Punta Cana resorts in the past, this resort was very frustrating. The service in the buffets is terrible and the general attitude amongst the servicing staff was that they did not want to be there. The only exception was Padro in the beach buffet. The other major issue was the lack of beach/pool loungers. There are nowhere near enough loungers and if you were lucky to find one without "reserving one" of the few at dawn, it was most likely broken. We have never encountered the lack of available loungers as we did here. Finally, the food selection at the buffets was not the greatest for a resort of this size. We are very simple eaters and did not starve but it was one of the worst buffets we have experienced in a resort. Now it was not all bad. The resort is a good size and not too big like some of the others we have been to in Punta Cana, no need for trolleys/golf carts at this one. The resort itself is very well maintained and the grounds/maintenance staff does a great job keeping it looking good. The beaches are beautiful and they do a good job picking up all the seaweed in the morning. The one thing we have never encountered before was the lack of "beach huts" which are nonexistent at this resort so it made finding shade a bit of a challenge if you needed a day off from the sun yet still wanted to stay closer to the water. The rooms were nice and big and we did not encounter any air conditioning or plumbing issues that have been mentioned in many reviews. The à la carte restaurants were very good but again service was slow with the one exception being the Steak House as they did a great job with their service there. The Steak House was phenomenal and all 6 of us enjoyed it. Another hit was the pizza place, the pizza became an every night occurrence for us as we all loved it. Did we have a great time, yes. Would we go back, unlikely unless we see an improvement based on the reviews in the future. For the price point, you get what you pay for. If you want premium service, higher-end resorts like Dreams or Sandals are down the road but expect to pay significantly more. If you are coming from a high-end resort like that in the past or have done cruises, expect to be disappointed.

Thank you Dionelis!
We were with a big group and our butler Dionelis take exceptionally good care of us! Very competent and careful lady which made everything to ease our group. The staff was generally very nice, and particularly the information desk person in building 23 , where I stayed, was really helpful. The food was ok, the beach is also very nice except that there are not enough sun beds, mostly because people left their towels and leave. Overall good hotel where we’re going to stay again.

Upgrading to Royal is the way to go!
Absolutely loved our experience here! The two people who made it incredible were Willy the server in Royal restaurant and Willy Bruno the bartender at the Royal bar. I highly recommend upgrading to Royal Club - way better food and service. We ate almost every meal at the Royal Restaurant and the food was great!
