Our trip to Costa Rica Occidental Papagayo
The reception needs to be more organized with a printer at all stations. They were saying that you are supposed to be welcome with a drink but we were not and not a big Hello. You can use the transport or walk if you are in shape. Our room was the highest in the mountain and we had a nice view of the beach. We got to reserve to the restaurant à la carte and very happy about it. The internet is good. There is 2 pools but not a lot of shade and not a lot of umbrella. The food is good. We would come back anytime. It's the first that we get special treatment because we have a time share. Special room, special place at the pool.

Fun with Yasniry at Occidental Papagayo I. costa rica
We really enjoyed Yasniry in entertainment! She was a delight and made us feel at home. Always smiling and making fun wherever we were. The Disco, the pool the grill….she was everywhere 🥰. Costa Rica!!

Generally good but they need to fix a few things in Premium.
The hotel was lovely and the food was amazing. However we took the Premium as we always have at it’s sister resort, Barcelo Tambor, and we did not find it worth while. At Tambor there is a wonderful spread for breakfast, lunch and dinner if you choose not to eat at a restaurant. At Papagayo, the food was the same, fries and some beef all day for 3 meals. Other services like check-in where no different than regular. We waited 3 hours for our luggage to our room before we went and got it ourselves and carried it up 2 stories (we are seniors). The room was OK but facing the pool and quite noisy until 5PM. The beach was fantastic, calm and beautiful and the staff was generally very helpful and cheery. I had a wonderful massage with Dana at the spa. We would go back but either book the large suites up the hill with a golf cart or just the regular rooms.

Top notch all inclusive property
Absolutely beautiful property. Quieter clientele. Lots of stairs gets you into shape! The staff are wonderful! The food is quite good if you are not overly fussy - something for everyone's taste.

Lots of steps and lack of shade.
Lots of steps and lack of shade. Accommodations could be spruced up a bit. Pool tile/grout/in-pool lounge chairs look like they need to be cleaned. Workers work hard but could be friendlier (could be a translation issue). Nice entertainment in the lobby and around the pool. Change of lunch menu varieties at the Snack Restaurant might be nice.
