Truthful Review - Having family with us made it bearable

Pros – beautiful beach and view, well kept landscaped property, a la carte restaurant food was good, buffet you won’t go hungry; Omelet station gentlemen for breakfast were the best and our family/friends Cons – watered down alcohol you can taste the difference, water from shower was brown always felt dirty, power outages all the time, A/C never went below 25.5 degrees Celsius, rooms are VERY old, electrical plugs coming out of the walls, pillows are lumpy so weird, bathroom fixtures are rusty, bath tub always looked dirty and so did the room (floors) even though the bed was made, supposed to be “family environment” spring breakers (7 days of them) were there overtaking everything including pools and restaurants with chanting, screaming all hours of the night in the hallway, kicking in doors – tried to call reception night after night but no one answers, finally talked to someone during the day and they had security during the “day” instead of “night” when the all the ruckus took place. I blame Management of Occidental Caribe for not taking a handle on things which affected other families that were on vacation as well. Beach towels were stained that didn’t look good, room towels were old and thin. Took hours to book a la carte restaurants for the size of the resort should be better process. Paid quite a bit of money for disappointment. Definitely will not be back unless we get a refund. Álvaro Fontenla, General Manager your responses on the bad reviews are the same I think you should really take to heart what vacationers are stating are the “real issues”. To get people to come back you need responses that the items listed will be addressed promptly and going forward you should not have any more bad reviews – my thought.

    All inclusive indeed!

Not gonna lie, at first there was an issue with our room. It got dealt with as soon as our concierge Francia Garcia introduced herself. She took care of the issue immediately and was in constant contact with us for our duration of our stay. She went above and beyond for us and the all the other staff including our server reyniri from the house buffet location. Will definitely return next year or sooner!!

    The place should be condemned

Dump dump dump. Do not go here you are happy with cafeteria food, rooms that do not have closing doors, opening patio doors, broken tv and phone, staff that tell you there’s nothing they can do and a travel agency that drops you off and only cares to take more money on excursions.

do not go there, the hotel is overrated, very old and not maintained properly

the bathroom toilet is not flushing, the bathtub is not draining and is water dripping from the bathroom ceiling. the safe box was not working, I went to reception to report, I was sent in the room and been told to call reception from there, I did that an then wait for 1 h for somebody to come....nobody ever show up and reception never answer to my calls. there are not enough chairs on the beach, ppl are sitting on their towels, is a line up to the main food area , not enough tables, the service is slow and bad, they forget what you ask them to bring....the entertainment is practically non existent, every 2nd day a 45 min show, no engagement from the staff with the ppl ....overall a very bad experience, do not recommend!!!!

    ***Important Information for our guests***
The Dominican Republic imposes various restrictions each year for Easter.  The restrictions usually begin the Thursday prior to Good Friday, and run a few days past Easter Sunday.  The following regulations may be enforced:

*Alcohol consumption may be restricted  (most resorts obtain a special permit which enables them to serve alcohol to nonnative persons during the ban)

These guidelines are currently vague because actual enforcement by the local government does vary greatly from one year to the next.  Each year the actual policies are not published by the local authorities until just prior to Easter.  These rules are designed for the safety of everyone, as beaches get extremely busy during this period.
