Best reconnecting trip with my wife
The resort was nothing short of amazing the staff here was friendly and one person in particular Damien who worked at the preferred pool area was the best of them all. I found out he was a patriots fan and he continuously gave me updates on the game when i couldn’t watch it. It’s people like him that make you feel comfortable and enjoy your vacation. Then to top it all off he made us a good bye sign out of sand that had a patriots head on it which was drawn perfectly!! I recommend this resort to anyone and make sure you get the preferred package it was definitely worth it plus you get to see my guy Damien!!!

Upgrade to preferred
Upgrading to preferred was the best decision we could have made. It gave us access to a better breakfast restaurant and the adults only pool. Damian took great care of us there!

Mostly mediocre
Our family group of 16 is halfway through a week's stay here and, safe to say, we won't be returning. Within the first day, most of us across eight rooms had to have maintenance in for issues ranging from non-functioning thermostats, no air conditioning, noisy overhead fan, intermittent power outages and non-functioning outlets. Generally, the response time has been speedy, but we shouldn't be experiencing this many issues with what should be very basic functions. One in our group is already on their third room due to noise issues, missing shower doors, no a/c, etc. This last time, they got an upgraded room, but none of these things should be issues in the first place. The property is clearly older and looking a little tired, both in the rooms and around the site. It really could use some TLC and general upkeep. In one restaurant's one women's washroom, for the two days I've been in there, the faucet hasn't worked. Rooms are clean though. Food is hit and miss. At its best, it's good/fine, but I've had very little so far that I'd write home about. Service at the restaurants is also hit and miss but mostly fine. The staff generally though are all great: nice, friendly, great service around the pools. The spa is definitely pricey but the cenote-inspired space is very cool, and my facial was great. If you book an 80-minute treatment, you get an hour in the hydrotherapy space (sauna, steam, pools). That's usually not my jam, but it was great, and I'd highly recommend it. (That said, in keeping with the general state of repair of the resort, one of us tripped over a bucket on our way into the change rooms: they had a leaky ceiling, and there was a lineup of buckets on towels right around the entrance — hardly the kind of environment you should be getting at a spa that pricey.) Nothing to do with the resort but algae bloom on this side is an issue, and since we've been here, the red flag has mostly been up, meaning it's not recommended to go in the ocean. Don't get me wrong, this hasn't been horrible, and we have to keep the price/value in mind. So if you're looking for a less expensive resort, this is fine. Just temper your expectations accordingly.
