Disappointing Stay - Issues with Pools, Amenities & Service
We recently stayed at the Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts Riviera Maya and unfortunately encountered several issues that detracted from our experience. * Pool Temperatures: The most significant problem was the consistently cold water in all pools, including the penthouse pool. This made it impossible for our kid to enjoy swimming comfortably. * Room Condition: Our room had an unpleasant odor, likely from a sewer issue. * Amenities: The minibar was not restocked daily as promised, we lack of water noticing I. The middle of the night. Additionally, the quality of the hotel-provided shampoo and conditioner was very poor. * Dining Experience: We experienced an extremely long wait (over 50 minutes) for two simple hamburgers at Aqua Nick. * Comfort: The sofa bed was extremely uncomfortable, impacting our sleep quality. While we enjoyed some aspects of the resort, the aforementioned issues significantly impacted our overall satisfaction. We believe the price of the stay did not justify the quality of the experience.

Nickelodeon Water Park and Amazing staff
What an amazing experience!!! This is the coolest hotel/resort/water park!! We were staying at the neighboring resort, Generations, but we were able to get a day pass for the Nickelodeon Water Park. Think Disney with water but WAY less busy. The park itself is so ridiculously clean and well cared for. The slides are great for little and big kids (even adults) and then have multiple lazy rivers, wave pools, tons of drink/restaurant options and the food does NOT taste like “park food” It is delicious!! We actually went to the Nick Bistro and the buffet is the best I’ve seen! We also met with Victor in the sales department to go over our membership (we are Exotic Members) and it was literally the smoothest, easiest experience. He was honest and up front, he didn’t try to over sell us anything and so easy to talk to. Not your typical sales guy. If you are ever in the area and are interested in hearing more about the Exotic Travelers Membership, seek him out!! He won’t steer you wrong. Honest and familiar. We definitely recommend

Great themed resort for kids, inclusive for kids with developmental disabilities
I chose this resort due to the autism double checked certification - basically indicates staff get extra training, which I felt would be helpful since one of my sons has severe autism. The staff lived up to this certification and were overall thoughtful. Check in and out were both pretty seamless (I did web check in but then had to sign a couple of additional items upon arrival) as was the transfer to and from the airport. My room was ready at 3 (I saw reviews saying check in was at 4, but my reservation said 3 and everything was ready on time), and I paid for extended facilities access (cheaper than buying tickets to the water park for after check out online). Lifeguards and staff were attentive and helpful when needed and we only had 1-2 meltdown situations during the entire trip (both of which resulted in staff asking what they could do to help). The resort was not busy at all when we were there (could be due to timing - week of new years) but the water park was very busy by noonish since you can also buy a day pass - hotel guests get early admission, which was great for getting chairs since they are in short supply later in the day. Overall, the level of service was most similar to a previous stay of mine at a sandals with kids activities similar to a Disney or universal hotel. I had booked based on the autism certification and only read some negative reviews here afterwards so I went in with a little trepidation. However, I was honestly quite happy with the level of service and the pricing for what we chose to do (but you do have to actually look at prices). This is a great resort if you want to wow your kids with a themed experience. We did go to the snick lounge twice, which is open all day but was pretty empty each time we went, and had retro video games and a pool table for free. There is another game room with air hockey and ski ball in a store on the bottom floor of the beach front building, and those games are paid but fairly priced (about 40 pesos for air hockey). Our room was large (swim up on the main floor) and the mini bar was restocked daily - once I called to ask for extra juice and they brought a ton of additional snacks and beer as well. I also had to call the front desk twice when housekeeping had left something in my room and another time to get more coffee pods (Nespresso) and both times they were at my room in just a couple of minutes. So - it wasn't 100% seamless, but they resolved the issues pretty much instantly, which was appreciated even more. For restaurants, I'd recommend Nick Bistro, the yacht club (had a pretty good raw bar), bikini bottom, and Piazza as far as restaurants. Most restaurants (except bikini bottom and Piazza) were buffets with drink service. We didn't try good burger (not a buffet), but my son liked the ice cream truck (soft serve, and quite a few toppings, but they also had soft serve machines at each of the buffets except breakfast). Room service did take a bit of time but was available 24 hours. The main pool was not heated, but it appeared that only one pool (paw patrol kids pool at aqua Nick) was heated at all. The water wasn't cold per se but it wasn't in the sun so it wasn't warm. The beach was also right there and quiet, with a volleyball net as well as chairs. Aqua Nick was great - we didn't do a cabana but found the "beach" area and generally made that our base - it was much quieter than other areas. If you sit at the chairs near the splash pools, a waiter will serve you drinks, but I didn't see a waiter in the beach area (I did see dedicated waiters for the cabanas there, which looked like they were nicer than those in other areas, with tvs, and a little more quiet/room to spread out). But you can walk up to aqua bites for sodas or a bar for an adult beverage. The lines at aqua bites were a little long for food but we just went to the bistro for lunch most days, which, like all the other buffets, was immediate seating. There's a scrolling list of main activities on the room tvs and in the lobby, as well as restaurant menus - not sure if those were also viewable in the app but I had issues with getting the app to work (kept freezing) so I ended up just using the TV list or asking someone. I would love to see an app that's more built out with a daily list of activities for each location, menus, maps, reservations for cabanas/services/restaurants/tours, etc., like the Disney app. We also bought some souvenirs from the shops - the prices were variable, but there were enough items that were reasonably priced for the kids to be happy - one son got Nick blimp slippers for under 400 pesos (adult size - the kids sizes were maybe 1,200 pesos) and the other one got a stacking good burger plush for maybe 600-800? Standard tips appeared to be 100-200 pesos for everything - waiters will have change for a 500 peso bill, as will the front desk, but generally nothing smaller than 100 (I had heard 50 ish was more normal for housekeeping elsewhere). I booked tours externally through viator (funnily, you cannot access trip advisor from the resort wifi but can access viator) rather than using lomas. The lomas prices were not bad considering they included admission/extra fees that a lot of tours ask you to pay separately, but they don't do kids pricing - so for me, 2 of 3 people received free admission to archaeological sites since I booked externally (due to age or disability), and the lomas prices would have been higher. If you have maybe 2 adults/1 child, it seemed fairly reasonable, and convenient booking in the lobby (but it would be fab to have something like this available from the app as well).

Don't purchase exotic Travelers membership
Resort is good and water park is fun. Staff is great and good is average. By no means purchase a vacation club program from exotic travelers. It is a scam. Their customer service is horrible. Nothing about the pricing is accurate. Worst decision ever.
