What We Love
- It's all-inclusive: the food, the drinks, the everything is sensational.
- Teeing off at the Marina Vallarta Golf Course that's a coconut's throw from the resort.
- Dropping the kids off at the kid's club then making a beeline for the swim-up bar.
- Melting into a massages in an open-air cabana.
- Swimming, floating and diving into the largest pool in Vallarta - zero-entry point for kids!
- The all-consuming kids' activities: arts & crafts, ping pong, foosball, arcade games and more.
- Visiting the landmark, the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe & zip lining in the nearby jungle.
- The nightly shows - the dancers cut a rug with everything from retro to traditional cultural dances.
- Hanging at the Marieta Islands and Los Arcos National Marine Park. Both are not far away.

Perfect stay!
We were initially a bit hesitant about booking this resort. Over the years, we’ve usually opted for mega-resorts in the Mayan Riviera, and some of the reviews for this place had us concerned. But… we absolutely loved it! It turned out to be perfect for our family. The resort is on the smaller side, which we actually found to be a big advantage. We stayed in a family suite (complete with bunk beds for the kids), and everything was conveniently close by: the pool, restaurants, and beach were all just a 2-minute walk away. If you’re looking for a party vibe, this probably isn’t the place for you—it’s very family-focused. The buffet was one of the best we’ve experienced in Mexico, and my vegetarian wife had no trouble finding plenty of options. Although there’s only one pool, it never felt overcrowded, and the same goes for the bars. A special shoutout to Juan, our server at the buffet in the evenings, who went out of his way to make our kids feel special. A few tips: • Use Uber for transportation from the airport. It’s quick, easy, and just a 5-minute ride to the hotel. • There’s an Oxxo convenience store and pharmacies a short and safe walk away near the marina. • If you need beach toys or other essentials, Walmart is just a 10-minute Uber ride. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay and will definitely be returning!

Great value, beautiful property.
This is a really great resort for families with kids of all ages. Beautiful huge pool, the grounds are beautiful!! Lots of iguanas, they are pretty cool. Buffet was fine, always found some things to eat. Specialty restaurants are worth a trip too. The downfall is the beach. It was not safe for the kids, surf was really hard to navigate with a sinking drop off. I am a real beach person so this was disappointed. WHY DOES THE MUSIC AT THE POOL HAVE TO BE SO LOUD!! The staff are great, very friendly. Good value for the money

Very friendly staff, clean and good food.
Very friendly staff, clean and good variety of food. The property was well cared for. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and respectful. I had two rooms and one of them did look outdated and didn’t have the same amount of furniture as the other. For entertainment I would have liked more stuff for adults like music.

Best Vacation Ever!
I recently returned from my 7-day stay at Melia Puerto Vallarta, and I couldn’t wait to share my appreciation for the incredible staff and wonderful experiences. I hope the managers take notice of how hard-working and dedicated the buffet servers are. They work very quickly, and their attentiveness is remarkable—they often notice what you need even before you say anything. I’d also like to highlight Victor at the lobby bar. One day, they ran out of mint for Mojitos, but Victor didn’t just apologize—he offered his own special cocktail, a twist on a Mojito made with basil. It was absolutely incredible, even better than a traditional Mojito, showing his creativity and dedication to guest satisfaction. I loved “Victor’s special” so much, and I’ll be including a photo of it in my review. Alberto and Silvia at the customer service desk also went above and beyond. When we needed a luggage scale to check our bags, Alberto mentioned that the resort didn’t have one. However, he went the extra mile and brought his personal luggage scale from home the next day—such an exceptional and thoughtful gesture! Sylvia was also very helpful and made sure our stay was enjoyable, addressing any issues promptly and with a warm smile. The food here was outstanding and more authentic compared to other resorts in Mexico, which often have more Americanized offerings. We enjoyed a mix of traditional Mexican dishes alongside American options. The culinary team did an incredible job of making each meal memorable. This resort also offered the most activities of any I’ve been to. We especially loved the batting cage, and we couldn’t have asked for a better activities team. Special shoutout to Lili, who was the sweetest person we encountered throughout our stay. Melia Puerto Vallarta may not be a high-end, five-star resort with new, luxurious buildings. The property is older, but it’s beautifully maintained, with a Mexican charm that I found delightful. The sunset views were stunning, and spotting iguanas roaming around the resort was an unexpected highlight. Though this resort has a more Spanish-speaking environment, we had no trouble communicating despite not speaking Spanish ourselves. There were only two things we felt could be improved. First, there wasn’t an outlet near the bed, so I couldn’t charge my phone at the bedside, meaning no phone or alarm clock within reach at night. An extension cord could solve this, but it would be more convenient if there were a nearby outlet. The second issue was at the buffet: they offer a delicious pasta station where veggies and pasta are stir-fried in a hot pan, but the area doesn’t have good ventilation. After about 30 minutes in the buffet area, our clothes and hair smelled like cooking oil. Improved ventilation around the pasta station would make the experience even better. This was my first experience with a Melia resort, and it left such a positive impression that I’m looking forward to trying other Melia properties in the future, wherever we travel next.

Alondra’s amazing personality
Alondra is the best waiter i have ever had. She is kind. She makes sure that you are taken care of. Amazing service from her. She is a very beautiful person inside and out. I felt so welcomed when she came up to us. She deserves a raise and a promotion.
