Great gym!
Great facility, quite complete for a hotel gym! there is a good variety of equipment, lots of windows for natural light and lots of mirrors like any good gym. The coach, Juan Guerrero, was really nice and helpful, always in good spirits! Although I had a great time at the gym, the space is a bit small, specially given the amount of guests the hotel holds, there is not a lot of space to put the mats on the floor or even walk when the gym has more than 8 people, which was the case most of the time. I believe for a hotel this big, the gym should have more space. Also, there were often no towels available, which is something I found lacking.

Fake charges and poor customer service
I travel 6-10 xs a year for work and at least 2xs vacation yet this is the first time I am entering a negative review as the customer service when it was bad, it was appalling at this resort. I was checking out this morning and was told I had a salon and international phone charge. I told them that was not possible as I had not been in my room at the time of that call nor had I gone to the salon. I was then told I had to prove it. So I presented the charges I had made on my credit card and asked them if they could provided the voucher for the salon charge (pretty standard at hotels). They responded with "let me explain to you how it is done here ..." and proceeded with a condescending explanation that the salon has different accounting system and they could not show me the voucher I would have signed. They continued to say I had to prove to them I had not incurred the charges. I told them I can not provide documents for charges I didn't make. They would not let me check out so we paid and are now waiting for an investigation into their mistake. This was a pattern with the customer service during our stay. I went to the front desk to request a golf cart to the main entrance (they were very helpful the previous two times) but then I went to the transport coordinator (15 steps from the receptionists) and he said there is no way I can use a golf cart. So I went back to the front desk and let them know I would take a hotel taxi. I went back to the transport coordinator and let him know that I informed the reception that no golf carts were available. His response was why would I think golf carts are available and there is no way he would go the the receptionists to inform them. The hotel itself was clean and the beaches, pools, and climate were good. In high seasons there are never enough sun beds, towels, and towel cards so get them before 8am. The check-in took an hour and any task, including restaurant reservations, took around 2 hrs. If you decide to go here, track all your expenses--the hotel can charge you whatever they want. And be patient the first day you arrive as you get the services organized. The concierge does provide information but you may have to double check as the pamphlets he sends may not be accurate ask several people--especially guests, as you may get conflicting guidance.

Christmas vacation
No transport from airport and to airport even though was included. Not worth the money. Not clean, bad food. Staff doesn’t do anything to remedy complaints. No manager reach out to customer.

Yes to the DR, No to Melia.
So the positives - beautiful weather; nice, clean, spacious rooms; lots of opportunities for fun family time - with 2 18+ children. Oy, the cons - the management of this place is dismal. You ask 3 employees the same question - you get 3 different answers. No one seems to know what’s going on. We paid up for The Level. The Level pool was nice but didn’t have the fun activities the main pool had. No matter what pool you were at though - you needed to be up way early to get chairs. There were definitely not enough deck chairs to accommodate an almost full resort. And towels - the first 4 days - we went to the towel booth and got 4 towels. On day 5 we were told we needed towel cards. Ah - okay. On day 6 there were no clean towels available to trade in for your cards until late morning. The food was subpar. The buffets had no variety from day to day and the resort didn’t do much to show off the specialties of the DR. The restaurants that required a reservation were almost impossible to get in to. We were able to secure a reservation for the Mexican place and the hibachi place but it took hours with the concierge in person and then on What’s App to get them. The hibachi was excellent - best meal, best service. Sadly, twice we watched hotel guests without reservations pay the host off to get into a reservation required restaurant. We had 2 wonderful bar tenders and great staff at the Riviera and the hibachi place - but beyond that the service was poor. Everyone seemed put out when we had a question or needed something. We will definitely return to the DR but never again at a Melia property.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!
Went for holidays with my family, hoping to enjoy our vacation, and we found it very dissapointing. Rooms need urgent maintenance, and they dont clean up every day, eventhough we asked them to do it, Alberto Jimenez from costumer service refused to send someone to do the cleaning, because they dont do it every day. Pool and beach areas are really dirty, with broken sunbeds and garbage everywhere, waiters dont pick dirty dishes. Food at the restaurants is flavourless, and service slow, people are rude when you así for something you need. If you want to go to a specialty restaurant theres a 2.5 hour wait even if you make a reservation. I wrote an e mail to explain my complaints, but received no answer. Its a shame with such beautiful beaches, will never go back. And definitely, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!
