Avoid this resort at all costs! The staff and service are terrible, and I would never consider returning.
I’ve travelled extensively to various countries and resorts, but Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort stands out as the worst experience I’ve ever had. Upon check-in, guests are given a yellow bracelet, signifying the lowest tier at the resort. For an additional cost, you can upgrade to various memberships, each identified by a different wristband colour. The more you pay, the more access you gain to different areas and amenities throughout the resort. Be prepared to be constantly hassled about purchasing a timeshare during your stay. The staff are relentless in their attempts to sell, even going so far as to trap you into attending a three-hour presentation. If anyone offers to drive you to a free round of golf or show you around the grounds, it’s almost certainly a ploy to pitch a timeshare. They even approach guests while they’re eating at the restaurants. The resort itself is quite large, and while the grounds, food, and weather were decent, the beach was filthy and uninviting. However, the most shocking part of the experience was the staff. Despite the resort employing around 3,000 people, not a single staff member I encountered during my week-long stay made any effort to smile or improve my experience. Many of them appeared arrogant and treated guests with complete disregard. If you’re staying at the Residence Inn section within the resort, your access is incredibly restricted. Though they claim guests have access to 11 restaurants, the reality is very different. You’re limited to two international buffets offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner. While the menu varies daily, the other nine restaurants are supposedly “reservation only,” yet reservations are perpetually unavailable. Restaurant reservations can only be made between 8 and 9 a.m., but staff repeatedly claimed they were fully booked during that time. The rooms at the resort are hit and miss. Our room seemed newly renovated while other people we talked to at the resort said their rooms were in need of major repair. The alcohol served at the resort is another major disappointment. It is all produced by a single company and tastes absolutely terrible—comparable to drinking paint thinner. I would never return to this resort or Puerto Plata. It was, without a doubt, the worst vacation I’ve ever experienced.

Mixed review
My friends and I visited the resort Jan. 18 - 21. The resort is beautiful and offers numerous pools, restaurants, and bars. There is much construction of luxury villas. I think they should use the money to upgrade the existing rooms, which are outdated. Our room was lovely, but very musty. The floors were wet and our friends' adjoining room had a problem with the air conditioning. We had the pleasure to take advantage of the Ying Yang Spa. Suma gave me one of the best massages I ever had! The bartenders at the VIP pool bar were very friendly and attentive. All in all, we enjoyed our stay:)

Don’t Waste Your Money on a Membership – Horrible Experience
I recently visited Lifestyle Resorts Dominican Republic, and my experience was nothing short of a nightmare. I strongly advise against purchasing a membership with this company. Here’s why: Broken Promises and Downgrades: I booked this trip using my signing voucher, which guaranteed a two-bedroom unit. This was one of the key reasons I agreed to the membership in the first place. Two days before my trip, I was told there was a leak in my room, only to find out upon arrival that I had been downgraded to a one-bedroom because the resort was overbooked. They gave my booking to someone with a higher membership tier. This downgrade completely disrupted my trip. I was traveling with four people of different sexes, and privacy was essential. Half my party canceled because squeezing into a one-bedroom with people sleeping on sofas is far from a "luxury" vacation. Terrible Communication and Mismanagement: Upon arrival, I was told I had two adjoining rooms—this was not communicated beforehand. The check-in process was a mess. I was misdirected to the wrong building in the dark, forced to navigate stairs with a bad knee. Once I finally reached the correct building, my keys didn’t work. I stood outside for 45 minutes waiting for someone to return with new keys. Constant Lies and Sales Pressure: I was told I needed to visit the membership center for my seating assignment at the New Year’s Eve party. Instead, it was just a sales pitch to upgrade my membership. Why would I ever upgrade after this experience? Poor Attempts at Compensation: To "apologize," they offered me a 20-minute massage—not even a full treatment. I had to pay extra out of pocket for a proper massage for myself and my daughter. This was supposed to be a relaxing, luxurious vacation. Instead, I spent my time dealing with broken promises, mismanagement, and constant lies. The value of this $$,$$$ membership is nonexistent if they can downgrade you whenever they choose and offer subpar service. Final Verdict: Save your money and your sanity. I regret ever signing up for this membership, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company to anyone. What should have been a luxury vacation left me stressed, disappointed, and questioning the integrity of this business. It would be a good vacation if they stoped all the scams and lies and were integral in their promises.

below average accommodations / outstanding food
We have been members of Lifestyle resort for 13+ years and have stayed in the Puerta Plata resort at least 6 times. This recent trip 1/14-19/2025 our biggest issue that myself and my guest rooms NEVER had hot water for showers the entire time we were there! WE made complaints to the hotel service desk as well as VIP desk with absolutely no results. We dined at the Bellini, Indochine, Blue Lagoon, Gourmet as well as the buffet I must say the food was excellent along with the service. We must acknowledge 2 staff members who in our opinion were exceptional: Coffe from the entertainment staff, above and beyond to add joy and entertainment to our stay, Dorka in the VIP beach area, exceptional service what a nice lady. Both Coffe and Dorka deserve recognition for they're service!!!!

Cold water all week with no solutions, old and unkept, black mold in our shower, no enforcement of property rules more like suggestions. this property needs major investments. Don’t waste your time or money even if they give you this vacation for free. Turn and run.
