Overall a nice stay
Overall a nice stay and relaxing trip. Resort had a beautiful view from almost anywhere while walking around. There are plenty of pools to choose from, and it’s not so busy that you can’t get a chair. Some pools were heated and others were not. The massage at the spa was great. The spa facilities like the jacuzzi are nice, but the outdoor pools were too cold to enjoy. Note that if you book a panoramic ocean view it likely won’t have a view. We had to pay extra at check in to get a real ocean view, but it was worth it to sit on our balcony and enjoy it. Check in is extremely slow. With only three desks and each check in taking 20 minutes, you’ll be there awhile, especially if you need to go back to switch rooms. I would also say staff attitude varies greatly, while some are nice, a number of others acted like we were inconveniencing them. The food was pretty good overall. Marhumo/Nak was the best restaurant we ate at, which we had for dinner our first night. The UA is solid for breakfast and lunch, and you can also order food and drinks by the pool. With there only being a few restaurants, there isn’t a ton of variety, so recommend venturing off property to enjoy food in town as well.

Pool experience
Eduardo at the family pool was phenomenal! We had a good stay and the quality of food was also good. We came for a couple days and it was the perfect length of stay. Jasha Spa and Café de Artistes were my two favorite experiences here at the resort.

TLDR- This is a gorgeous property with wonderful service and staff.
Just wrapped up a 4 night stay with my husband at the JW Marriott Los Cabos (late January/early Feb 2025). TLDR- This is a gorgeous property with wonderful service and staff. The ocean views and stunning water features are an attraction in itself. We found the service to be top notch- with each server just as friendly and helpful as the last. The breakfast buffet is great, the margaritas are fantastic, and my favorite menu is the poolside menu. Everything we tried was fantastic from the taco trilogy to the poke bowl. The spa facilities are great. The adult pools are very nice with lovely views. The highlight of my trip - We ventured about 10 minutes off property via uber to SaltyCabo excursions for a 2.5hr whale watching tour and this was my favorite part of the trip. I would say this is a must do if you are traveling in February! Paola, a marine biologist, guided the tour which was incredible. We saw dolphins, turtles, and so many whales often close enough to the boat to splash it. It was truly a top tier life experience that I would recommend for any age. We even had an older couple probably in their 80s and the tour guides were extremely accommodating for them ensuring they were comfortable and getting great views even though they couldn’t turn or stand easily. Others told me they were traveling 40 minutes to do whale watching tours in Los Cabos and I would not do that. SaltyCabo was great and only 10 minutes from the resort. Back at the resort, we saw whales in the ocean daily, multiple times a day. It never gets old. Amazing each time. We played pickleball, walked the property, and heard the gym was great although I did not visit it. The hot tubs were large and spacious. I found the whole resort to be extremely clean. I especially loved the open air hallways, the wonderful view from our spacious balcony, and the ability to fully open your balcony doors and hear the ocean while in bed. One downside (for some perhaps) - this isn’t the resort I would bring children to. My own two kiddos were at home but I thought several times they would’ve been bored had I brought them. There were children there and I definitely think they would feel welcome. There is an entire side of pools for families, one with a small animal themed splash pad. But beyond I didn’t notice any activities or other things for them to do besides just hang in the pool. The family pool side was extremely quiet without music or volleyball. We did have trouble over the weekend finding a spot at the most lively adult pool with the best views so we sat on the family side and I was impressed the service was still as good even though it was a bit deserted. The lobby showed some minor wear and tear in my opinion. Prices were consistent with resort properties, but might be a nuisance to some so I always suggest looking at food/drink/service charges online before going to avoid sticker shock. Overall though I would definitely go back with my husband, not where I would bring my kiddos. The views and service are wonderful and it makes for a great weekend hanging by the pool, looking at the ocean, with a margarita in hand.

Poor management
I have been a loyal guest at JW Cabo for the past 8 years, I visit Cabo at least four times a year. On December 15th, I made dinner reservations for Thursday and Saturday night, which were confirmed via WhatsApp. Additionally, I scheduled 3 spa appointments for Saturday at 10:15 am. However, upon arrival on Thursday, I was informed that there were no reservations, but they managed to accommodate us. Similarly, when I arrived at the spa an hour early on Saturday, I was told that there were no appointments booked. I requested to speak to a manager, but was informed that no manager was available. Eventually, after expressing my concerns to the hotel manager, Yulinina, she mentioned that there was no record of my spa appointments. I provided evidence of my calls on December 15th, but was only offered a 10% discount for a last-minute appointment. Disappointed with the lack of customer service, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Despite this, I was informed that I would still be charged for the night. It's essential to analyze this situation from a business perspective. I found myself in a predicament where I had to pay for a room I didn't even use, resulting in a loss of $2000 as I had to book another hotel. The JW Marriott incurred a loss of $1000 in spa charges, $150 in lunch expenses, $200 in pool fees, and $150 in breakfast costs, totaling a loss of $1500 due to what I perceive as poor managerial performance. While I believe in not judging mistakes but rather focusing on rectifying them, the offered $30 coupon seems inadequate compared to the significant loss suffered by the company. It's crucial for companies to consider such instances during evaluations for promotions, as handling them better could have led to a more positive outcome. Perhaps a proactive approach, like inquiring about our return time and ensuring a delightful experience with three massages ready upon arrival, could have salvaged the situation. Unfortunately, the $100 discount on my $3300 bill for a two-day stay doesn't quite meet the expectations of exceptional customer service. Going the extra mile to exceed guest expectations is vital for fostering loyalty, and in this case, the JW Marriott's management decisions have led to my decision not to return. The loss of potential future business to other establishments reflects a lapse in management judgment.

CABO BRIDES: DO NOT USE THE JW FOR YOUR BLOCK
I am taking the time to write this review in hopes that I can save a future bride the headaches and stress that my fiance and I endured dealing with the JW Marriott for our January 2025 wedding. I want to start off by saying that this review has nothing to do with the rooms or services at the Marriott, but the Events/Weddings group and management. From the get go, my fiance and I knew we were going to get married at Flora farms, so my wedding planners suggested we use the JW since it was the closest hotel to our venue. After our site visit, we were very excited because the property was gorgeous, the rooms were spacious, and the amenities were great. Here is where things start to go down hill. We wanted to have a rehearsal dinner for about 40 people, and then follow that with a welcome party for about 80 guests at the JW. The JW agreed to host these events IF we booked a room block for "90%" of our expected guests. This meant that we HAD to GUARANTEE the JW 30 rooms, for all 3 nights of our wedding weekend. My fiance and I were hesitant about this because we had to sign a contract saying that if we did not book all 30 of these rooms for the 3 nights, we would be the ones paying for them. My fiance and I really wanted to make this work, so we agreed to the contract with the 30 rooms, at a discounted group rate. We went back and forth with the hotel about the room amount and rates, took weeks and months- so don't think you will be getting quick responses. After we received a link for our room block, we had guests start to book their rooms. After about 5 rooms were booked, we had a friend tell us there were no more king bed options available in our block. I thought this had to be a mistake so I reached out to the JW directly. They let me know that there were "no more king beds available at the hotel" and that I "did not clarify what type of beds I wanted for my block." We were STUNNED by this response. The JW tried to tell us that the hotel had 0 king beds available for our dates, but when you went to their website, you could book the same level room for the same weekend. We went back and forth with the JW about this issue for at least a month. After this back and forth correspondence, the JW magically had king beds available for our block BUT they would be an additional $75 over the agreed room rate we signed for. My fiance and I were so worn down and tired of fighting with them at this point, we just agreed so that we could move on with planning. Fast forward a few months- we have filled our room block. At this point, we have now guaranteed the hotel 30 rooms for 3 nights PLUS a rehearsal dinner and welcome party totaling more than $40,000. We were finalizing wedding weekend plans, and realized we needed a separate room for my fiance to sleep the night before our wedding. Surely the JW would give us a complimentary room for one night for him right? Nope. We were told we had to pay for the room at the regular block rate AND that my fiance could not have a late check out (he argued with management until we got it) which we needed for him to get ready for the wedding in that room. When we arrived for our wedding, we showed up to the hotel around 12:50 PM. I understand that check in is at 3:00, but I really did expect the JW to have our suite ready considering the amount of revenue we were generating the hotel, and all the stress they put us through. That was not the case. Our room was not ready, and we were told it hadn't even been cleaned when we got there. Additionally, we had asked that my mother be put in a room next to mine to help with logistics for the wedding- this did not happen. The hotel forgot, and then told my mom she could have a double room that was down the hall on a different floor. In general, we felt like we were being treated like regular guests, which was disappointing given everything we were spending at the hotel. Again, the rooms were clean, the service for our events was great, and we left happy- BUT I would NEVER advise a bride and groom to use the JW for their hotel block, or have your wedding here.
