A Truly Wonderful Experience!
My family and I had an unforgettable stay, and the team at the hotel made it all the more special. Chef Paris at the Hibachi restaurant was absolutely fantastic and was very entertaining! Watching him in action was such a treat, and the food was beyond delicious. Servers Aaliyah and Kimberly M. at the Hibachi restaurant were warm, attentive, and ensured we had a flawless dining experience. Kimberly, especially, went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Chef Michael showed up before the end and we expressed our appreciation! Special mention goes to Tishanna at the front desk—her kindness, professionalism, and welcoming attitude set the tone for our stay. As a proud “Jamerican,” it filled me with so much pride to witness the outstanding hospitality my kids and I received throughout our visit. It was a beautiful Jamaican experience that we’ll cherish .

The good, the bad and the in between
I visited Iberostar Rose Hall 10yrs ago on a weekend trip and decided to revisit for my 50th bday in dec 2024. I was disappointed to see that so much has changed. The check in process was quick and front desk staff was polite. We were given armbands that would be a charge of $50us to replace if lost, along with keycards and towel cards. The cards were such an inconvenience. The keycards deactivated constantly and the monitoring of the towels in this way was too much like a YMCA. The beach grill offered burnt jerk chicken and under cooked pork. The sides were as inconsistent as the server Kshima's unpleasant attitude. She barely looked up to greet the guests, just a loud "next?" to indicate she was ready to serve you. All 5 days of our stay, the service and poor food at the beach grill was the same. The main buffet on the other hand offered a wide variety. The different theme nights showed thought and provided options. All the staff were friendly, expect the blatant insisting they take tips was a turn off. The Smoked Restaurant offered briskets, sausage, BBQs etc. all on one platter that we were told serves four. It didn't. EVERYTHING on the menu was terrible. We tasted, spat out and left after 2mins of getting our meal. The Italian restaurant has great staff. food was good. The club was on the other property. We were told we would be transported via luggage carts over to the club. The first night, one young lady pulls up in the cart, jumps out and says very dismissively "cart not working". The 2nd night we ask about transportation again and was told they cut that off at 10:30. The club was lively and music great. However, in the event of a fire guests would have to scurry up a 12ft spiral stairs that is slippery when dry. The other fire exit is behind the dj booth and far away from the majority of the patrons. This is extremely unsafe; Owners need to revisit this set up. Pools were clean with plenty beach chairs but not enough umbrellas. The entertainment staff were friendly but have very little space for poolside activities. Each activity is intrusive to the guests. One area should be designated for these activities, simply by not having any beach chairs in that area. Guess the owners are waiting for someone to be seriously hurt to realize this doesn't work. We loved the lunch time pop buffets on Jamaica day and international day. Tacos were awesome. Housekeeping was excellent and you could tell that the bar stockers were limiting the items in the mini fridge. The furniture in the rooms is gravely outdated. The room fan in 1238 squeaked and wobbled. Lighting is very pale. Curtains dingy. The rooms need more plugs. There was constant construction but thankfully it was never disruptive. The best food was the Japanese restaurant, but this was masked by the experience. Done hibachi style, the chef prepared the meal of steak, chicken and shrimp, fried rice and steamed vegs in front of us. it all looked and tasted great; however, the experience was awful. The room was extremely noisy as the chef was over the top in his presentation. He yelled at us and made unsuitable corny jokes. There were locals and foreigners at the table. The chef paid attention to the locals more speaking in his native tongue which at times came across as if he was making fun of those who did not understand what he was saying. At one point a loud argument broke out among the local guests in regard to a recently incarcerated dancehall artiste Katrel. This went on much to the discomfort of the other guests and was encouraged by the chef. You couldn't have a conversation because it was so loud. Several attempts by two supervisors to quiet the table, proved futile and it got worse once guests at the table next to us got seated and they too were encouraged to be loud. Now the two chefs were competing to see whose table could be the loudest. It was overbearing. Showtime was good some nights. Most nights it was held out on the pool deck, which had limited seating. Love the ice cream cafe. Mention must be made to Shanelle from concierge. She does a great job. Tania from the bar was awesome too. Overall, a 4 out of 10. We will not return. It's clear the hotel is cutting costs, for what guests pay per night, Iberostar can and needs to do better.

Iberostar Jamaica is always the best!!
This was my first time staying at the Waves level at Rose Hall. I had stayed previously at the Grand and Suites. The vibes in Jamaica are just different. The Jamaican people are so welcoming and loving. I got the same energy from the Iberostar employees, huge smiles and always kind and open to conversation. The room: I stayed in Room 1129 which was an ocean front room with a fabulous view. The room was spacious and the king size bed comfortable to sleep on. All the standard amenities were included to include cable tv, ceiling fan, air conditioning, wifi and mini-bar with beer and soda. The Iberostar is conscience about the environment and as such provides 2 large glass bottles to fill at water stations located throughout the property. Be sure to fill them up for use when brushing teeth and I do not use the tap water. Opinion: I found the room to be cold, which I normally like, but at times it was too cold. If you are not a person who likes to sleep in cold, bring warm pajamas or turn the fan and ac off. The bathroom: This is the one area that needs improvement. Specifically, the shower floor. It is not pleasant to look at with water marks and stains. It seems like a rather simple cosmetic fix. This room did not come with a bathtub which is not a big deal for me but important to point out. Room service did a good job keeping my room clean and towels refreshed. The food: I was a little worried since this was my first time staying at a ‘waves’ level resort. I can tell you that nothing felt cheap about this experience. The buffet was phenomenal. Jahmal at the breakfast buffet makes the best coconut pancakes, they don’t have them but I asked, and he hooked me up. We ate at Olivetti, the Italian restaurant back in March and were disappointed by the service and let the resort know. I am happy to report that Olivetti has shown great improvements in their service. In fact, they were my favorite spot for dinner. The staff and food at the smoke house was also great. Thank you all for the great dining experience. The staff: The staff at Iberostar in general are worthy of praise. I did not receive a frown or a negative experience once during this stay. Some people who really stood out were Shane the bellboy, Jose who was all over the place from the front desk to the beach ensuring all was well. The entire Star prestige beach staff Leroy, Anecia, Kacy and Serene took good care of me and made me feel like family. One love to you all. I feel inclined to put it out there to the world that while all-inclusive means your room, food and drinks are paid for, the staff works so hard, they deserve tips! Be sure to take care of your bartenders, room service, buffet and dinner staff and bellboys. I cannot finish this review without acknowledging Susana from the Star Prestige lounge. She is courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. I had a slip during some rain and she ensured I was not injured, followed up with me later that evening and the next day. Additionally, Susana, Jose, and Shane as well as the entire staff at the lounge helped me through a flight cancellation and extended my stay. I am so grateful to be a prestige member because of employees like them.

Stay away! Not safe for kids!
Nightmare holiday! I booked a family trip with my 1 year old and parents as a birthday get away for myself with Virgin Holidays and it’s the worst trip I have ever had. It’s not a safe hotel for children at all! Do not go there with your family! The Virgin flight was a joke it was Ryan air seats for 10hours and they ran out of food options only offering pasta! When we checked in at the hotel we were welcomed nicely and told we would get welcome drinks and after being flooded with information we said we were thirsty and they told us we should go to the bar! I asked about the welcome drinks and we were told that we could have them if we wanted!! As if we were begging. What a joke! They said they were renovating when we booked but I did not expect there to be ceilings caving in and leaks all over the hall ways! Especially as we were there when a storm hit so there was water flooding everywhere! It was not safe to walk around inside the hotel in some areas. They had buckets everywhere because of the leaks. The place is falling apart. And the balcony construction work they were carrying out just had dust flying all over the pool area at one point. They should not have people staying there with such works being carried out. Not safe with kids especially. The rooms were nice and spacious but outdated and the bathrooms looked like a lot of DIY had taken place. We had issues with the showers not working properly and the water ran yellow for the first 30 seconds everytime you ran the shower. We told reception and it was just an ever on going issue of multiple people coming out at different times to repair and look at which was frustrating. On several occasions we would return to our room and it had not been cleaned and we would have no fresh towels. The biggest issue was the star club membership they try to sell you and while being given the hard sell they suggested I put I my 1 year old in the kids room where child care staff would watch her. I left her there for 2 minutes to then hear her screaming and crying! Found her with blood running down her face and none of the staff could tell me what had happened so they clearly were not watching her! The hotel offered no compensation at all! And they blamed my child for her accident instead of the fact that the staff were not watching her! My child found glass on the restaurant floor and luckily I saw it in her hand before she could put it in her mouth! The huge 30cm under water pool light had fallen out and I hit my foot on it while playing with my child and the entertainment staff were about to start the foam party despite me telling them about it. Despite the staff being friendly they don’t seem to truly care about the customers. And we experienced this in many situations. They listen they smile they act like they will help and do something but nothing gets done. I spent my whole trip going back and forth with the guest services and the virgin onsite rep who did absolutely nothing to ensure we felt safe and comfortable. They tried to offer me a junior suite room as an upgrade within the building that was under construction!! Literally all the neighbouring rooms had their doors wide open dust pouring out into the hall ways! Why would anyone move there with a 1 year old?! Why would they even think this was an acceptable form of compensation?! The overall hotel service is inconsistent and poor. I will never return and I am currently legal action against the hotel and Virgin Holdiays.
