    Top Grades

This resort was recommended by someone who is very particular with travel and accommodations so we thought it would be a good choice. It was wonderful! All of the staff from gardeners, to restaurant, to the front desk were amazing. There is no ATM at the hotel, but the front desk will provide currency exchanges, no problem. Our room was basic but very nice. The AC worked great, and the mini bar was well stocked. Having a hot or even warm shower at peak times (eg. before dinner) was a challenge though. The resort uses the Vero water system for drinking water and it was great - no plastic! The buffet meals were outstanding. The Japanese restaurant was fantastic - it's the only restaurant where you need a reservation. We also tried the steak house and unfortunately the meal was not very good - we stuck to the buffet, with it's daily theme spreads after that. The pool was great - lots of room and shade if you want it; the sunny spots were snapped up by patrons saving seats early in the morning, despite requests not to do that. We didn't have small children with us but it looks like there are very nice amenities for kids - a water park, shallow end of the pool, day camp, etc. The beach is great for building sand castles, but the surf may not be appropriate for small children. On our first day there was a red tide (swimming not recommended), and it was yellow every day after that. There are life guards at the beach and pool and they take their responsibilities seriously. The resort turned the disco into a sports bar for the Canada/US 4 Nations final game, and we cheered the best team on to victory! The beach is clean and there's lot's of room to walk. There are (too) many vendors walking along the beach all day - just don't make eye contact! We were exhausted by early evening so we only partook in one evening event - a spectacular mariachi band. We can't speak to the night life at the resort, but there were posters for many other free activities as well. We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation and it's a great place; we would definitely recommend it, and certainly would go back.

Don’t drink the cocktails, you’ll be sick!

This resort was just fine as far as amenities. But, the real bad part of staying here was the alcohol is laced with industrial grade spirits to reduce costs. Our whole group got sick, not from drinking too much, but from drinking at all. Swollen feet, lethargy and upset stomachs. We found out this is quite common at Mexican resorts and Iberostar has actually had several suits filed against them. If you do go, only drink beer and wine from sealed containers. If you must have spirits, buy your own in town and make your own cocktails. Consider yourself warned.

Nice resort, but no beach volleyball.

Nice place, great pools, good food. We selected this resort because they claimed to have beach volleyball. It was never offered, supposedly they will bring a net to the beach for an activity, but they never did it once when we stayed. Disappointing.

    Unforgettable memories

Another wonderful trip to the hotel. The people who work here are wonderful and helpful, they make this place my second home. I want to say a big thank you to some of the staff, although all of them, without exception, deserve the kindest words. Thank you Jenny, Emmanuel, Stephanie, Miguel and Michelle, without you my holiday would not have been so memorable. Thank you to the chef for the delicious cake on my daughter's birthday! Thank you to Tanya and Elvi for the morning coffee and thank you to Gerardo, Jesus, Pedro, Jose and Oscar for the delicious cocktails. I also want to mention Luis, Alejandro and Ramon from the steak house and Mexican restaurant, they are the most attentive staff. I will come back again and again, thanks to these people!
