Pleasant stay for family of 4
From the top! My own fault for not booking direct from Boston. Instead we went via Toronto and were exhausted upon arrival after 10pm. Figured out the kiosk location for our shuttle (W2M, in the near corner of the room with multiple kiosks before the exit). Maybe 15 min to resort from airport? Took a bit to check in each person individually. Very pleasant check in person but all complicated questions to be held til morning as his English was pretty limited. Connecting rooms for us and our teen daughters (13 and 17) worked out great - make sure to request at time of booking if you need connecting rooms. Rooms are spacious and pleasant. Wi fi good across the resort. Breakfast and lunch served at the same buffet but they kept interest with variety. We were not bothered by timeshare people. Was thrilled the two pools are quiet and peaceful rather than being noisy with loud music all day as in some other places. Also they were clean. You could nap and relax by pool. Beach was clean and no problem with seating if come out by 8:30. Not great English among the staff but OK, and people were pleasant. We chose to tip at the start of the day for pool waiter etc as it puts everyone in a good mood. The grounds are very well kept. We did not do a ton of activities but they are available if desired. Tough to find snack between meals but you can obviously fill up between or grab something from the buffet for later. Room service food menu is limited and probably should just be relied on if you can’t or don’t want to go to a restaurant. We had super poolside service from Dioris!

Ibero Zero Star
Ibero Zero... this is a long post get ready I am going to be reasonable and not give this resort a 0 but if you can save your money and somewhere else please do so! Checked in on New Years Day for a three night stay and it was quite possibly the worst 3 nights at any resort. We stayed at the Iberostar Coral Selection, the supposed nice part of the resort. This resort is massive and the Coral Selection is a smaller part towards the end. The entire resort, including the Coral Selection is old and NOT well maintained. The buildings look like upper scale motel complexes and the lobbies are older. Its so large and not easy to navigate through. It feels like a old hotel stuck in a time warp that never made it out. Rooms The rooms look nice, clean and updated for the most part. We had an issue with the toilet not working for the ENTIRE day. We called a total of six times (even the housekeeping called for us) the entire day went by without anyone coming in. We had to physically go to the reception and speak to a manager (Rey) who told us he would stay in our room until the issue was resolved. They resolved it and offered a spa day, of course no appointments were available, we had the manager book us something and when we get to the massage she said she had to shorten the length because she was busy. Excuse after excuse here. The bars at selection are not busy, but the bars at the other locations we had access to were always packed and there was a long line to get a drink. Restaurants Most of our meals were at the El Faro Buffet at the Selection. The food is mediocre and nothing is hot, everything is either warm or lukewarm. We decided to venture out to the mexican and italian restaurants (Santa Maria and Hispaniola) We were turned away two days in a row because they had a "wedding party" and could not handle the large group of people, both said to come back in 2.5 hours. Il Forno and Hibachi both had nothing available. We tried El Tapatio and it was not bad. The food is ok nothing amazing. We also tried La Pagoda oriental restaurant and I would say pass it definitely, it was not good at all. Service Basically it felt like none of the employees wanted to help. Majority of the workers seemed inconvenienced/annoyed when you asked them for anything and pretty much did not care to help. I don't know if they are under paid or overworked or both but their annoyance was fully displayed. This resort needs to invest in some customer service classes because for a "five star" resort they all seemed angry. I want to give a special shoutout to Daisy our housekeeper, she was a beautiful ray of sunshine who always made our day so much better. She was so unbelievably helpful and kind and sweet. The day we were leaving we called for someone to come take us to the main building with our luggage so we could take a taxi to the airport, (a golf cart) we waited 25 minutes after the initial call and had to call two more times for anyone to show up, they really just don't care. The Gym The gym is nice with a lot of equipment and they do offer classes but its a literal zoo. By 7am the four working treadmills had a wait line and the entire gym was packed. Also one morning I woke up at 6am to workout and the walk to the gym from our room was terrible. It was pitch black at that time and none of the lights were on. They say they have the golf carts available for guests but not one time during our stay did we get a ride. The upper part of the gym is for yoga and boot camp classes which we did not take. The most horrible part. One evening we were taking a stroll and passed by the Chiringuito bar. My husband and I were with our 12 year olds and 14 year old. We were APPALLED to see the bartender serving a girl who could not have been more than 13/14yo a pina colada with liquor in it in front of our eyes. We WERE SHOCKED. Him and the other bartender were joking and laughing with her and asking her how old she thought the bartender was, this was a grown man in his 30s-40s. We were disgusted. Iberostar needs to do better, this was not ok. Coral Selection: The beach access and chairs are very easy, the restaurants are decent and pools are empty. It felt more like a small boutique hotel on its own. The entire resort has minimal entertainment, If you stay at the Coral Level Selection I would give this a 3 stars but any other part of the resort I would stay far far far away. I am extremely surprised at the ratings this place had and was genuinely excited to stay here but was very disappointed. DR is a gorgeous gorgeous island and we have visited many times before staying at the Hard Rock, Melia and Dreams Flora and had a great time but Iberostar was an utter fail. For the amount of money you are going to spend you can go anywhere else and have an amazing time! This experience has deterred us from ever booking a iberostar resort on any other island as well, they are just not up to par unfortunately.

coral level iberostar bavaro punta cana
There are positives and negatives here: Rooms reasonably well appointed (no baths, kettles, milk) but large comfortable beds, sofa area, decent bathroom), beach pleasant with moveable chairs and cabanas for shade, pools are clean, gym is well equipped (but too small for the level of demand) and there is a good range of gym classes. Spa is clean and functional, our party enjoyed massages (these are relatively expensive). El Faro breakfast and lunch buffet generally good, food in the other restaurants much less so. Good drink offering (alcohol and non alcohol) On the negative side the whole resort falls down on a lack of service culture. It's what makes potentially a 5* experience far from 5*. For example- on the morning after we arrived we discovered that there were no water bottles in our room at 7am. Instead of arranging a bottle to be dropped, when we called reception we were advised that housekeeping didn't open till 9am, and that we could walk (in our PJs) to a restaurant to get water. I could go on.... on multiple occasions food ordered on the app didn't arrive, waiters forgot the drinks order at breakfast (we'd often order 3-4 times to be safe). It's largely because the level of English spoken by staff members is poor, so they often struggle to understand requests. There isn't a striving to deliver outstanding customer service like (say) in a 5* hotel in Dubai or London. Weather in December was very mixed with a lot of cloud and heavy showers, and a number of other guests got a vomiting bug (perhaps from the water that e.g veggies are washed in, or from ice cubes). Several of our party got sick but it was only a 24 hour sickness. Not sure if there's a better level of service for the 'club' prestige level with the restaurant upstairs at el faro or their own reception area; I suspect not dramatically so. If you get a great deal to stay here and don't mind hit and miss service then it's a very pleasant resort. If you expect 5* treatment and service, this will fall short of expectations

Don’t come here
I rarely leave reviews, but I need to let people know this resort was bad. Not worth the money we paid for. We have stayed at Coral Level Cancun a number of times, and always had a great experience. Coming to Coral Level Punta Cana, we’d thought the quality would be similar, but we were very wrong. The hospitality was just bad. Housekeeping would always come in at 6pm or 7pm, which was odd timing because that was truly the only time of day we were in the room, and then they’d wait outside until we left. Finally, when we got back to the room, housekeeping would never refill our mini fridge (and honestly all we wanted refilled was water), or take any plates/etc. Sitting by the pool, the waiters would rarely come to check on us or others, so we would always need to go up to the bar to get drinks ourselves. However- the entertainment crew was GREAT! The dinners at the buffets were very bad, and we would be sitting at the tables trying to order water and no one would come to help us. I really do NOT recommend this resort. Definitely try Coral Level Cancun before coming here.
