Far from Luxury, 3 star hotel that paid to be rated 5 star

There is absolutely no way this is a 5-star hotel. If they have that rating, they must have paid for it because, at best, it’s a 3.5. The food is terrible, the building is outdated, and the spa service was the worst I’ve ever experienced. The spa refused to let me enter with my small wheeled bag, yet minutes later, they allowed another guest in with a larger bag—simply because mine had wheels and was considered a “suitcase.” When I asked if I could bring in a giant non-wheeled bag instead, they said yes. Make it make sense. I explained that all my toiletries were inside my bag and asked if they seriously expected me to carry everything in my hands. Their solution? They dug into the trash bin and handed me a used bag with crumpled-up paper still inside. This is their idea of a “luxury” experience? At that point, I asked to speak to a manager—only to be told there wasn’t one. I had to go all the way to the front desk to complain. The customer service rep, Ricardo, admitted that what happened was unacceptable, yet no action was taken. No apology gift, no compensation, nothing to make up for the absolute disrespect of handing a guest trash to carry their belongings. This place is a joke. I will never stay here again, nor will I ever book with Iberostar in the future. If you’re looking for a real 5-star experience, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

    Amazing holiday

Me and my friend had an amazing stay here in March 2025. The staff were all so friendly and helpful (especially Santiago in the buffet restaurant). The food was really nice and fresh even at the buffet, and the Al a carte restaurants also had delicious food. It was quite hard to get a table at the Italian and steak Al a carte restaurants unless you went super early which was really annoying but the staff ended up sorting something out for us two of the nights to ensure we could eat there. The pool and beach area were all kept very clean and the entertainment team by the pool were really fun but didn’t pressure you to get involved which was nice (shout out to Edgar and team). The location was good, around a 15 min drive into the centre where all the bars are. Overall we had an amazing stay!!

I would not stay here again!

We're currently at Iberostar Coral in Cancun. This is our first time in Mexico. The Caribbean sea from this vantage point is so beautiful. The Coral side of Iberostar (adults only) is very nice. The selection (family side) is not where I would stay. The food is ok at best. The dinner at the Japanese restaurant is hibachi style and you must make a reservation. The food there was pretty good. We will try the Italian restaurant this evening. We arrived 4 days ago and decided to venture over to the Selection side to go to the gift shop to purchase souvenirs. Immediately, we noticed that we were being watched and profiled as though we were going to steal something. This was unacceptable. I spoke with the cashier in the gift shop to assist me with finding a t-shirt, and she was too engrossed in watching my family members on the other side of the store to come and assist me. We addressed her and the situation only to hear created excuses of why she was watching us, and not other customers who did not look like us in the gift shop. On our way back, while waiting for a golf cart to transport us back to the Coral side, the attendant called for a golf cart (that seats 8), when it arrived, the same attendant told his colleague in Spanish to transport a couple that arrived after we did, and waved us off saying we could wait. When asked why we would have to wait, he stated his other cart was coming. When I reminded him that we're going to the same place, he again gave no legitimate reason as to why we were made to wait. The next day, we decided to try the steakhouse. No reservations are needed. The sign clearly says, "First come, first served. We were behind a family of 6. They were told just to wait a moment and we will seat you soon. When we said table for four, I was told there are very large parties in the restaurant we should find somewhere else to eat. We then went downstairs to the Italian restaurant to dine. The restaurant was empty. Only two tables had people seated and eating. The hostess took a long time to respond after I said table for 4. After about 1 full minute of waiting, she then stated there were about 10 families in front of us, so we should probably find somewhere else to dine. We were in shock and disbelief. This is not a coincidence! My husband chose not to accept this treatment and went back upstairs to the steakhouse and asked to speak with management. It was then that they were able to find us a table and seat us. While dining in the steakhouse, many people who did not look like us were quickly seated, which was contradictory to what the hostess originally told us. We got an opportunity to talk with another African American couple, and we asked them about their experience so far at this resort. The first thing they stated was they were watched in the gift shop and on another occasion made to wait 2 hours to get into the steakhouse. Again, this is not a coincidence. If you are not a POC, your stay at this resort will probably be great. But if you are a POC, I would choose another resort and possibly a different destination.

    Rarely disappointing and rarely amazing.

Spent 4 nights here. A couple of highlights: -Staff was mostly super friendly and happy to help and assist. Veronica at the lobby bar was especially great. -Resort was not especially crowded--didn't have a hard time finding a chair anywhere we wanted. A lot of the other reviews are correct: it's an older building; lots of concrete spalling; the beach in front of the resort is pretty rocky; the food at the restaurants (even the specialty ones) was just okay; the drinks (outside of the lobby bar) were just okay. None of these things ruined our trip at all, but they're worth mentioning. If you just want somewhere to relax for a few days, you'll have a great time here.

    Great resort

Love the coffee shop I'm not a coffee lover but they made me LOVE the carmel frappis. Room was great, pools were good. Outside bar with tables we used every night to play cribbage. Beach was amazing, staff was great. The only thing is if you want a drink by the pool you have to get it yourself, they dont come around and serve you.
