Whales, sunsets and great memories
The chance to see whales just from your balcony, the restaurant at the hotel next door and the beachfront walking pad is unbelievable, like dreams coming true. I had seen before and saw many more on this travel journey, but this was another experience. Well done modern renovated hotel in a great resort location. Lovely breakfast at the swan with every day new items. Luau was also fine with ok food and lots of drinks. Very comfortable bed as always at Hyatt. Easy temperature control and great bathroom amenities. Very few places in the shade around the pool. Nice poolbar with good drinks and food. All staff friendly and attentive and the speaking parrot and all the others was a funny extra touch. Although there are lots of rooms there was never to mach noise at night. Still ideal atmosphere for a solo traveller. Maui is a beautiful island

Wonderful hotel
This hotel was excellent! Room was ocean view and very clean. Pool was large and water was warm. We had Breakfast buffet each day at the Swan court. Every morning they had standard items but also had about 5 items that they changed up. Wait staff was excellent. We had Dinner at the Sons Steakhouse one night and our Waiter Michael was excellent. Because it was our Anniversary the hotel gave us a bottle of Champaign at check in. What a wonderful surprise. I cannot rave more about this hotel experience!

Beautiful hotel
Beautiful location. Amazing vacation. You could see turtles right outside the hotel in the ocean. The food is good but pricey. The gym is great, the spa is really nice. There is a little shopping village you can walk to and a Starbucks next door to the hotel.

Beautiful wildlife competes with constant crowds
We found things that we really loved about the Hyatt and things that were just okay about so I hope you find this review helpful. The things we loved were the penguins, swans and parrots. This is a beautiful hotel and there is a great deal of wildlife to enjoy from swans to penguins, parrots not to mention whales and seals in the wild. I would recommend the breakfast buffet as it was excellent! The staff was extremely accommodating. Fred and Eileen were both amazing. We were a party of 6 and they took great care of us! The varieties on the buffet are constantly changing. Even on our last day, we were excited to see what new and fun things would be on the breakfast buffet. I also absolutely loved the shampoo and body wash in the hotel! The bed is also very comfortable. I loved the refillable water bottles provided by the hotel and we found water infused with lemon, cucumber or melon at the vacation club. The one thing that we were most disappointed about at this hotel was the pool. It was extremely crowded and you had to fight to get a seat. We were told at check in that we could also use the Hyatt vacation club next door. We spent all of our time by the pool at this hotel rather than the one at our hotel which was slammed with children and the pool area also was covered with annoying pea stone/ large grit sand that hurt when you stepped on the stones not to mention we were covered in the sand that was everywhere from the seats to the pool. The pool next door also poses issues. If you want a seat you have to get up before 7 am. At 7 the pool staff label any seat near the pool as "reserved for owners" Many of the seats that were saved for owners sat empty ALL DAY LONG or were used for an hour in the late afternoon. Even if you do get up before 7 to get a seat, your chair is labeled with a time stamp and after 60 minutes your personal items are removed. This makes it difficult to grab a seat and then get breakfast without constantly feeling stressed and pressured. For me, the frustration and stress of trying to get a seat at the pool was an ENORMOUS draw back for this hotel. There is very little beach as much of the beach has eroded. Almost everyone is sitting around the pool and it is just horribly crowded. I thought I would like the walk way that runs in front of the hotels but the constant foot traffic is also annoying and takes away from the serenity of the ocean. The hotel is trying to capitalize on selling cabanas on the walk way to me it wasn't worth it at all because the walk way is constantly swarming with people. With that said, the ability to see whales from our balcony and the abundance of wildlife at the hotel made the trip really enjoyable. One tip, we had a partial ocean view which faced the Hyatt vacation club. At around 5:45 there is a tiki lighting ceremony at the vacation club. It was fun to watch. I also think the ocean view rooms (even partial view) are worth the money during whale season as we could see the whales from our balcony.
