    Poor service and noisy area

    Why anyone would want to stay in Playa del Carmen is beyond me (we had one night here at the start of a tour) - but it takes all sorts! This hotel is in the thick of the action (and the noise) but disappointingly not really near a usable beach. The rooms are fine - quite modern - I would strongly recommend a room nearer the back of the hotel - no view but at least you can sleep. The pool area on the roof seems to be full of 20/30 year old Americans partying hard - not our thing. Ordering a cocktail was a challenge - seemed to take forever. Breakfast was particularly poor - a long wait for a simple coffee and a refusal to provide a cappuccino without an extra payment!

    We are coming back!

    My boyfriend and I, with my parents, stayed at the downtown house. AMAZING time. The rooftop team took such good care of us. Our bartender Javi, and Juan Carlos were great vibes and even greater bartenders and our pool server Alex was always making sure we were taken care of with towels, more drinks, or shade. I will be coming back 100%

    Ocean View Retreat

    Quaint boutique hotel right on the beach and just a block from the shops and restaurants on 5th Avenue. Rooms are immaculate with beautiful marble and wood. A small but nice pool. Friendly staff. Restaurant on site served great breakfasts.

    Two very different properties and experiences. Make sure your booking is clear.

    This is a beautiful property that feels like a boutique hotel. Warning! There are two properties. One in 12th downtown and one on 8th called “Beachhouse” The Beach House property is actually on the beach. Downtown is over an H&M store and is right in the middle of party town. Both are beautiful and well run, but pay attention to the experience you are looking for.

    Perfect Birthday Dinner

    We celebrated my girlfriend’s birthday last week on the rooftop (UMI/Alessia), and we had a fantastic time! We were a group of 20 and the manager of the place, JC, couldn't have been more accommodating. The staff went above and beyond to decorate the table for our special occasion, and the service was exceptional throughout the evening. Everyone enjoyed themselves, loved the service, food and view. Even with some guests arriving late and others having already placed their orders, our waiter Alex handled everything seamlessly. He was perfect all night! We can't wait to return next year!
