This was a long planned holiday for my daughter's 21st birthday and we were joined by family and friends. We all had a great time at Riu Negril. ALL of the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. There were some who made our stay extra special but even then there are too many to name! Staff made great efforts to make sure my daughter felt special on her birthday, they sang and presented two cakes (breakfast and dinner), and also had a special ballon and banner arrangement when we returned to our room. We were also given a lovely fruit platter on arrival. My daughter is Autistic and quite shy and wary. However, after just a few days on the resort, she felt comfortable enough to move around the complex on her own and i felt comfortable to let her. Again staff played a big part in making our experiance relaxing and seamless. The drinks were flowing well and the bars were always well staffed. I didnt feel preassured to tip but I did just because the service was always very good. The food was always good and I was impressed with the variety on offer. Eating at the Seagull at lunchtime was our favourite. The only small disappointment was eating at the Asian restaurant as we found the food bland. All in all a great holiday and my daughter really wants to go back! I would definately stay there again. Tips; Bring a flask/tumbler with metal straw. Try and stay in building 1 as the buldings are quite a walk from the main building and dining. Taxi ride to Negril town is 200 JMD (red plate taxi's outside of the hotel). Dont pack towels as they provide plenty. If you want to party off the resort, try Jungle or Kennys. Most prices are in US$. I would recommend having both USD and JMD. If eating off the resort, try Corner Bar.

Jan 16, 2025The room settings were great, the beach has too much seaweeds, I didn’t bother to swim, I just sit at the pool instead
The overall setting was ok, accommodation and entertainment was superb, the meal choices were unbelievable satisfying.

A great Riu Hotel!
Overall, a wonderful experience. There was a bit of a mixup with the schedule to have the mini bar in our room restocked every 2 days. On three occasions I had to check on it and ask for bottled water at the front desk. Also, I would like to know what product is sprayed around the resort? I would assume it is something to control the flies and bugs. But, I don’t think it should be sprayed while people are still around the pool and beach areas. There wasn’t any notice or signs around informing people when this was to happen, and we got caught in the middle of this once and it gave myself and my partner a headache and a cough.

Jan 16, 2025Cockroaches, noisy aircon, power cuts.
Arrived late yesterday and found air conditioning sounded like a plane taking off. Had to leave it off all night. Shower adjustment broken. Then woke up to cockroaches in the bathroom in the morning. Got a room change- air conditioning sounded just as loud, fridge empty and room smells. Not a great start, 2 days into my 7 nights here and not sat on a beach yet. Now waiting because they have to double check what I’m saying is correct! Spoke to my TUI rep (she may as well work for Riu as she is no use to the holidaymaker) while trying to get a drink in the lobby and can’t get my drink as there is a power cut. Pity as this newly renovated property looks great but avoid coming here until their issues are resolved.

Just returned from a trip to Negril, Jamaica with my family and stayed at the Riu Negril hotel. My first visit back to the island in 25 years and the island was just as I remembered! The island is beautiful, the people are friendly and it is always a great time! I just have to say the Riu Negril hotel was great except for the Air Conditioning and the reservation service. My family of 9 was there for 7 nights and we weren't able to make a reservation at any of the restaurants for one night! We were forced to eat at one of the 2 buffets restaurants for every meal! For the price I paid, I felt like this was totally unacceptable! I could have saved a lot of money and stayed at an all-inclusive with just one restaurant! They also no longer offer room service. If you are looking for a great local guy that can take you any where you need to go, ATM machine, tours, local spots to eat and drink, A1 on the beach is your guy! He took care of my family and I during our stay. I have his contact number if anyone is interested? Jamaica is a beautiful place!
