Highly Reccomend....To Look Elsewhere
As someone who went to school for hopsitality I see things differntly than most but I'll start with a positive. Perpetual cleaning on the grounds was openly evident and the rooms were kept well as far as housekeeing was concerned. Rooms seem to be semi renovated. Our room had updated fixtures but the bath tub looked to be an original with cracks in the enamel and no water stopper. The toilet seat was not the correct size for the bowl?? There is vitually no beach. Most of the beach area appears to have been appropriated for the upscale Il Mare portion of the resort. Within the limited beach area there are a minimal amount of loungers most of which are broken or in serious disrepair. The pool is small and crowded and could be kept cleaner. Again limited loungers and in poor condition by the pool. Highly reccomend to hang out by the kiddie pool if you go here. Food quality was good but the preperation of the food and overall selection was average and limited respectively. Service; for the most part the staff was friendly but often clueless in their duties. As an example on our sencond night there at one of the alleged signature restaurants (Seafood) we arrived at 6:15 to see only 4 other tables seated. It took until 6:50 to be acknowledged and for someone to take our drink order. They took the entire dinner order at that time. 20 minutes later the drinks came out in the wrong type of glassware along with the appetizers one of which was incorrect. A further 20 minutes later we left after receeiving no main course and went to the buffett. When complaing to a senior customer sevice manage the following day she admitted they have staff out in the field that are untrained. There is clearly a management issue at this resort. I could cite more issues but I think this enough.... You can spend your vacation time and dollars as you wish but this was a once in a lifetime experience and fortunately for me that one time is done. I hope this helps

Great Trip/Average Location
We just returned from a week at this resort via package set up by AAA. Here are my thoughts: 1. Arrival and Transport to Hotel: Perfect. 2. Arrival at Hotel: We were signed up for, and paid for, a preferred package which entailed a specialized check in service. Not only did we not get the special check-in we were told we had to wait 15 minutes to check in as those staff members were in a team meeting (3pm on Friday afternoon). After check in we met someone who said we had to meet with her before 630pm so we could set up our Hyatt Vacation program (90 minutes) and the we would get our $150 in travel vouchers.....they were more concerned with us signing in for presentation than they were getting us in to hotel. It took hotel staff to Sunday to finally update our account to show preferred status. 3 Room: Perfect room, perfect location and view. The room was cleaned each day (we had to call one day to remind them). Mini fridge was well stocked. When we mentioned we preferred diet coke, they did switch out the cans from regular coke. 4. Meals: One consistent fact, there was plenty to eat but little taste in food. One night we went to outdoor steak house, but my steak was well overcooked and my wife' steak salad had four pieces....portions were very small. Was advised by other guests that portion size was small in each restaurant. We decided to eat our meals at the World Cafe. Yes, there are birds in the restaurant at breakfast and lunch. One of us aways stayed at table to keep birds away from food. Wide variety of choices. 5. Bars: Excellent..... 6 Entertainment: Excellent 7. Facilities: The facility should look into replacing the lounge chairs, many were falling apart and most are well worn. 8. Other items: a) If from US, no need to bring electric converters b) Utilize the staff across from elevators to arrange for cabs an make sure to set pick up locations for ride back c)Great free ice cream and sandwiches in Coco's (I know nothing is free)!!! d)Do your best to skip the Hyatt vacation plan meeting. Our last two hours and when he told me it was $22,000 to join for 30 years I almost fell out of my chair e) Be sure to go to Willistead on Thursday night for lights and fireworks. f) If anyone tells you returning through customs and immigration via ATL is easier, they are wrong!! What a mess, but that is not the hotels issue. 9. Transport Back to Airport and Check In: Excellent.

Underwhelming!
While the new Il Mare section of the Dreams resort looks pretty, it doesn't deliver on the experience. The Il Mare section only opened a few months ago, but the oceanfront suites are already showing signs of wear and tear. The first suite we stayed in had no air conditioning, and the suite we were moved to had a broken safe, the toilet seat was not installed properly, the sink was not attached to the counter, the closet light was literally hanging off, and there were no hooks to hang up towels or robes in the bathroom area. Il Mare is positioned as a "Preferred Club oasis," but the experience felt neither elevated nor preferred. The oceanfront suites could benefit from a design rethink; the shower could use a door to prevent water splashing all over the floor, and while couples often share a lot, there is nothing to muffle the sounds of being in the toilet. That said, the staff were quite responsive and tried their best to make up for the physical deficiencies of the resort. Il Mare has a lot of potential; the idea is great, but the execution is, well, underwhelming.

3.5 Star resort
Please read this entire review. I will break down the good, and the bad. We actually thought about cancelling this trip based on the terrible reviews. But decided to go anyways. I am glad that we still went. Everyone has different standards. There were reviews about the resort, no a/c in the rooms, food is bad, staff is not friendly, etc... I will help answer all of that Resort: Good: Resort- small. The smallest we have been too. Which was a good thing this time. easy to manage around. Not overwhelming. Bad: We may go back to this Dreams. We asked so see the Il Mare section incase we wanted to come back. They said we had to sit though and hour and half vacation club presentation to see the Il Mare section. Not happening. Never saw the PODs. You would think, hey we could see more rooms if we let guest see the PODs. Front Desk/Check in: Good: Nothing good to say. Pretty consistent with other reviews. Bad: Took a long time to check in. The Check in staff/Front desk really don't care. They are slow, lazy, and had attitude. We arrived at 3:30. Rooms were supposed to be ready by 3, we didn't get into our room until after 5pm. Like I said this resort is small, it shouldn't take that long to clean the rooms and have them ready for the next guest. Beach: Good: Very small. Water is clear. We really liked the beach. Bad:May want to bring water shoes. Coral in the water and may hurt your feet. Plus you. Bring towel clips to secure your towel to the chairs early. If you do not put a towel on a chair by 8am, then they will be gone for the day. Umbrellas are a little close together. We secured the umbrella in the middle all the way to the right. Gave us some distance from others. Pool: Good: Very relaxing, Water was refreshing. Not overcrowded. Nice scenic view with the infinity pools. Bad: Get a chair by 8am, or you will not have one for the day. Rooms: Good: cold. All of the reviews said the rooms were HOT. Ours was not. Had it set to 72, and woke up freezing. Basic room, nothing to brag about. Bad: The ceiling in the bathroom was leaking. I asked 3 times throughout the day for it to be fixed and finally 8 hours later it was fixed. They did not clean up their mess. The maid did not come that day. The maid finally came at 7pm to clean the bathroom from the workers. The maid came at 9 am one day to clean the room. 2 days, never came at all. had to call and request new towels since the maid never came to clean. The last day, our fire alarm in our room went off 5 times for 10 min each time. No warning. If they were testing it, they should have warned us. No way to turn it off. Food/Restaurants: Buffett: based off of previous reviews, we thought it was going to be bad. Surprisingly, the food was really good. For breakfast, lunch and dinner. Plenty of variety for everyone. Italian: Very good food. Wait was a little longer than normal. Would recommend eating there Seafood: Waited 3 minutes to get seated. Out of there in less than an hour. Food was really good there as well. Steakhouse: Went 2 times. First time no wait and was out of there in less than an hour. Second time. There were 6 of us. 3 couples. The 5 others all got their food and really liked it. They forgot to add my steak. Everyone was done eating and 20 minutes after they finished eating, my steak was still not there. Other tables were getting their steak. Common sense is to make it up, give me someone elses steak and make up theirs with someone elses until they are caught up. Nope didn't happen. That time we waited an hour to get seated and another 90 minutes to finish eating. My steak never came and I Left and went to the buffet to eat. Staff: Good: Very friendly, except for the front desk. Bad: Very slow at everything they do. We were used to "island time", since that seems to be the thing in the caribbean. They move at their own pace. Almost as if they don't care. From getting water at the buffet, silverware at the buffet, drinks at the bar/pool. service. Took hours to get bottle water for the room. They move at turtles pace. All in all, Hyatt owns this resort now. If Hyatt invested some money into staff training. Management overseeing the staff, and put some effort into the staff, it would be alot better. Not a 3 star, Not a 4 star. but 3.5 for some of our issues, and the slowness of the staff. Would I go back. Yes!
