Happy we ignored the negatives
I mean, yes you will find negatives as you will with every resort down the beach. This is Jamaica NOT the Waldorf Astoria! We were throughly impressed with Fred (Operations Manager). Not only with how he made us feel as a valued guest - but I watched him with others and with staff. He seems to be well liked. I can see why. Samantha at Nexus Tours is my fave. She knows a lot (even more than a rep but wouldn’t admit it lol) and is so pleasant to deal with. (Sorry for the line up at your desk now haha). We were impressed with the buffet. Lots of options. The staff were very nice. Dorado was awesome! Overall the people everywhere were exceptional (always a few who seem to hate their life. I’m sure they have their reasons). Almost everyone would drop what they were doing to assist. Even if it wasn’t in their area. I wish I knew the name of the gentleman cleaning the pool who did just that. Chantal is a very talented, friendly and highly multitasking bartender. Everyone greets you as they pass by. Whether they are cleaning or painting or on their way to work. The beach is absolutely perfect. Clear. Warm. Shallow. I’m glad we didn’t change hotels after reading the negative reviews. So sorry you didn’t get to enjoy as we did. Our biggest and possibly only real disappointment is no water sports at all. We missed that a lot.

Three Stars at Best
My stay at the Royalton offered mixed experiences. While certain staff members were exceptional - particularly Tasha Lee (desk manager), the Vibez team, and Jovie (fitness instructor) - the hotel's overall operations need significant improvement. We visited with a group of 80 for a birthday celebration, but the poor coordination and event management severely impacted our experience. Basic operational issues were common - like when they mistakenly deactivated my room key along with my girlfriend's, leaving me stranded in wet swimwear after swimming. The food quality was inconsistent, with more disappointments than successes, and the property shows signs of needed maintenance in several areas. So think twice or three times if you're visiting for a celebration. While the outstanding individual staff members mentioned make me consider returning, the operational issues, poor event coordination, and inconsistent food quality make it difficult to recommend. Three stars, at best, - great people, with a hotel in a great location, working within a system that needs improvement

Great Beach and ambiance. 4/5 rating!
We travelled to the Royalton, Negril for a week in mid-February. We travelled as a family, stayed in a presidential suite in block two; Diamond Club. After reading many negative reviews, we were considering Riu Negril (recently renovated) but then changed our minds and stayed at the Royalton. We had an overall great stay and would recommend; here’s a full review below. Beach - if you are a beach person, you will love this beach. Turquoise, clear water, you can walk to the buoy and the water will be to your torso. The beach is short l, which is great because every seat is a seat next to the water. Never had trouble finding seats at 8/9am. This was the best part of the resort. - staff on the beach were great, we never went without a drink and every day at lunch time, they would take your lunch order and deliver it to you on the beach as well. Very friendly! Rooms - The rooms have certainly aged but definitely not awful. Yes there are clear signs of wear and tear including holes in the curtains but we just left them open so we wouldn’t have to see the holes - The view from most rooms is beautiful, right next to the beach and water - AC, hot water worked just fine - Rooms were large and spacious. The kind bed was comfortable. - the layout of the resort and view to the beach is definitely a stand-out feature. It’s amazing to just walk out your room and to the beach in seconds. - the daily cleaning was thorough Food/Restaurants/Drinks: - Never went hungry, food was good and included all the typical menu items for breakfast (though fruit choice was much more limited than other resorts), for lunch, the kids loved the takeaway pizza option that they brought to the beach (other lunch options included: hamburgers, fish, jerk chicken, steak, nachos, etc.) - Tappanyaki was our favourite restaurant option, following by the steakhouse. Our butlers made all our reservations for us - The buffet on our first night was delicious with lots of seafood available but other nights had fewer choices. Regardless, the lovely woman that served us crepes at dinner time was absolutely incredible. Not only did she make the best crepes but she was so friendly, caring and really made our day. We found the hostesses at all the resorts not very friendly; they seems annoyed but who knows what kinds of made-up issues they have to deal with - Drinks were good, nothing to highlight or complain about. the bartenders were always very attentive and looking to make the most of the experience. Entertainment/Vibe Team - they really do go above and beyond to make sure that there is always something going on; they are funny, talented and genuine Butler Service via Diamond Club - our butlers overall were very helpful and always checking in on us but there were a few moments that were disappointing. For instance, typically our butler will Take care of ensuring the beds for the children are out and made for when we first arrive. Unfortunately, this was not the case and we had to request more pillows and blankets. We had to do this a couple of times because they would only deliver one at a time. Then we had to request towels several times because there were not enough towels for a family of our size. I tipped And left a note every morning and that seemed to do the trick. One night our butler told us that he didn’t know if he could make reservations for later in the week due to availability- yet reservations only open up 48 hours in advance. These things are very minor in the grand scheme of things but for those that are expecting extraordinary butler service like some of the other resorts, just better going in managing your expectations.

A nice trip
All in all the stay was great. Can’t complain that we were hungry; always too much food in sight! We had booked a family ocean view suite …. Unfortunately our ocean view was blocked by a building and many trees…. A sliver of the ocean could be seen if I stood on my tippy toes….. unfortunately Guest Services could not do anything for us after repeated requests…. The highlight of the trip was the Royalton Fit team. Morning yoga with Garrison and Jovie was peaceful and a great way to start the day. TRX classes with Tavi and Garrison were challenging!!! Bootcamp with Alpha was a killer. Aqua fit was deceivingly challenging as well!!! A great way to work up an appetite before breakfast. The trainers were always engaging and motivating, whether there were two participants or twenty. A first visit to Jamaica. Most likely not our last.

2nd Time Here!
We vacationed here in Feb 2023 and decided to do it again less kids.It was up to par again! The food is above average and i would insist on getting diamond club inclusive pool, bars and private beach. The rooms are very nice with ample size even the luxury jr we stayed in is more than enough for 2. We loved Tevin our bartender by the main lobby he got us drinks with the upgraded alcohol. This is the trick here at this resort(like many) you have to ASK for the upgraded alcohol or they give you generic.Note the bus ride from MO-Bay(Airport) is LONG...i suggest earlier flights to MO-Bay if your heading to Negril. Entertainment is varied, the Silent Disco and Michael Jackson Show are the two best imho.Ricks Cafe is a must if your doing an excursion i suggest taking cab ..the boat ride over sux getting in and out of there is BS...cab is WAY better. he will drop u off and pick up whenever u like we stayed 2 hrs. on 7 Mile Beach then he picked us up to go to Ricks for 2 hrs...it is quite pricy for drinks and food but hey it is what it is. The resort does ask you to do the loyalty program interview (basically time share) and they are persistent. We went to help out the employee and we ended up getting a beach dinner and spa for it! just say NO to the loyalty program its a waste of 2 hrs unless u want the spa and dinner lol. Tipping is a good idea but dont go overboard we tipped our cleaning lady everyday and our servers just give a little and u get alot! The Jamaican people are always nice and friendly and i would most definitely come back all Royaltons we went to are very nice from staff to the beach! No vendor problems and they are not pushy at all. We come back to Jamaica every yr the weather is always on par and what else do you really need its all here. The people the food the beaches,Reggae vibes, its just so chill no problem man! I suggest leaving on Tues/Wed if you can no lineups thru customs quite a breeze.
