    Avoid.

    Avoid this hotel any cost the staff are rude and incompetent, the food in the restaurant is terrible. It’s limited and we stayed at Diamond club. The restaurants have no AC so you have to eat your food quick and try and get out because of the heat that’s if they’ve even got the food you want. The kids pool was closed for seven of the 14 day stay. lift was out four of the 14 days with that and my father-in-law and mother-in-law was put on the second floor and they are 72. . The room smelled of damp and mould. The journey from the airport takes three hours and we were told one and half hours I could go on for ever about this place

    Lovely location, gorgeous beach, terrible staff

    Well what can I say? I’ve visited this hotel on 4 occasions and unfortunately I have to say this is by far the worst experience. The staff have been very very poor with very little or no attention to customers. Everything seems like a it’s chore, the hotel is crying out for senior management to take control and actually manage the staff, if they can be found? Mostly ignorant of the customers and mainly on their phones. You can clearly see they don’t want to work, or do as little as possible which is a real shame. This was a great hotel and the staff were always excellent. Something has clearly gone wrong. The restaurants are really poor. If you’re on a diet you’re in luck and if you’re a recovering alcoholic then this is for you as the chance of getting served is remote. On two occasions in two restaurants I had to go to a bar outside and get drinks to bring back to the table? They do ask, but literally can’t be bothered.

    Royalton Negril paradise

    I stayed at the Royal Negril for 3 nights in the Diamond Club section and as a Travel agent was happy with the service and amenities offered. My beachfront view was stunning and easy access to the Diamond Club pool. The food was plentiful and good quality.

    Good resort and great people, but plenty of room for improvement.

    A genuine review by young couple with a baby staying from 27th November '24 for 11 nights booked through a TUI package. After our long flight and transfer, we were greeted warmly at reception and offered drinks. Check-in was an absolute breeze and before we knew it we given our room tokens, although oddly were not charged a holding despot as required. Initial impressions were impressive, the reception area was spotless, modern and refreshing and the reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room itself was the luxury junior suite with 2 double beds, a whirlpool bath and showers. Size was not a problem, we had plenty of room and the beds were pretty comfy and regularly cleaned by staff. Mini bar was regularly stocked with drinks. For our little one, we were offered a portable cot which was appreciated. Safe was easy to use. Although the room (6103) had plenty of facilities, the reliability of these were patchy at times, piping hot water was not always guaranteed, shower pressure could be better, TV lost signal multiple times and we experienced a number of short power cuts. Air conditioning was absolutely fine, unlike some other reviews, our temperature was always comfortable and we have no complaints. Marked down for no Kettle or tea making facilities, only a coffee maker was provided.  Resort wise as a whole, I think there were hits and misses. Big hits were the immaculate grounds, the grass and plants were well trimmed and very smart, the general appearance seemed to be in good order and litter and rubbish was non-existent. Pool was decent sized and enough for you to have a splash around and a dip and the swim up bar was fun and useful. The beach and sea was a pleasant experience and unlike other resorts, I was not once hassled by vendors or locals, sea was nice, warm and calm with a yellow sand beach. Weather behaved itself as we got a number of solid days of sunshine, the further we went into December, the better the weather got.  Sports bar was a nice little gem, relaxed and cool atmosphere, beer served chilled and big TVs and pool table was a hit. My wifes personal favourite spot was scoops were she raided the ice cream and cake stand daily. I used the gym regularly and found it to tide me over nicely, decent selection of CV equipment and enough equipment in the weights room to keep me busy. Food wise, we visited the buffet for 9 days and found it to be great, food was varied and catered for all our needs including veggie and allergies. There are a number of different themes throughout the buffet including Italian, Jamaican, and Seafood cuisine, plus a kids section. There are usually a number of made to order grills cooking meats which were well used. We visited Grazie Italian Trattoria and Hunter Steakhouse, both of which the food was very good, upmarket with a more personal setting. I have nothing but admiration for the staff at Royalton Negril, they are a credit to the hotel and were the standout for our trip, they were all so friendly, engaging and no job was too big or small for them. Honourable mention to the ladies in the breakfast and tea buffet who made a huge song and dance for our little one and even managed to get a few giggles out of him. Vibe team also were just ace, so fun and full of energy. I must mention the misses, as there is much room for improvement for the resort. Firstly maintenance is a something that needs addressing, from a distance, everything seems fine, but up close things start to show up such as the rendering on many of the accommodation buildings were cracked and discoloured with occasional damp patches in ceilings. Paintwork around the poolside was flaking off everywhere with numerous missing pool tiles. Dips bar is rusty and generally in a poor state of repair. Broken men's poolside toilet. Nails used for sunbed umbrellas and these often found on the floor. These may seem trivial and picky but when you advertise as a 5 star luxury resort, it seems you are being sold a lie. Drinks at the poolside bar were just okay. The only beer on tap was Red Stripe and it was served warm and tasted appalling. So I stuck with soft drink mixers. Ask for any cocktail and likely you will be served a Slushie with plenty of rum. One last annoyance is that there are absolutely zero recycling provisions at the hotel. Huge quantities of Plastic/Paper/Metals appear to be just thrown away with general waste despite Royaltons commitment to sustainability.   I felt that the majority of the live evening entertainment lacked diversity and quality. It's was mostly dancing or acting sets, no real variety of acts. The Beauty and the Beast act was especially quite poor and felt like filler. But I must say the Michael Jackson and Bob Marley shows were the stand out performances. Loud music often carried on until 11pm which in itself didn’t keep us up but still a slight annoyance. Overall, I gave a 4 star review for our stay, we enjoyed ourself hugely at the resort and wished we could have stayed longer. But considering the price and the issues I mentioned, it didn’t fit the bill for 5 stars. Not even close. I hope the points I have made will be taken on board and remedial actions made. After which I would be happy to return. But at the current price and service, I would likely look elsewhere for our next holiday.

    This Resort has MAJOR MANAGEMENT Issues

    We been going to this resort for since 2017 Every year twice a year. This was our 16th trip there. We have never complained until this last trip. The small stuff we have never let bother us but over the past couple visits we have noticed things going down hill (small stuff.) like closet doors not closing or separation doors from. Room to room not closing Minor stuff. This past trip was a different story. This report is in need of a complete overhaul. We rented the penthouse rooftop terrace suite per usual the last few trips. First night it rained and we woke up to 2” of water covering the floor in the living room which could have turned out to be way worse then it did. Our daughter sleeps with night time oxygen and the oxygen concentrator shut off and was sitting in a pool of water. Blew all the breakers in the room causing her to sleep with no oxygen. Took them 2 days to get us switched to another room as they did not have any other rooms to swap out with us due to other penthouse suites being blocked due to lack of maintenance. I would think penthouse suites being one of the most expensive suites on the resorts the would have priority to be kept up to par being they are the money makers. We noticed they had everyone possible working on building 5 the chairman building and asked why that building was getting so much attention. To find out the owners we coming in December 18th. So take it from there. Let’s make everything look what is not for the owners so they think everything is great. After having to speak with MANAGEMENT a couple times they decided to get us switched to a different room. So we packed everything up and switched it all over to the new room. Once we were in our new room we noticed a bunch of water in the bathroom around the toilet so we called up Maitnence and the come to check it out. The guy mopped up the water and pulled out his tolls went into the toilet room and pretended to fix the toilet. Come out said everything was all fixed. I gave it 10 mins decided to go back In and the room had a bunch off water in it again. Check around myself and found the water was leaking from the ceiling. So nothing was ever wrong with the toilet. That night we noticed the AC wasn’t working in the room so we reported that as well. They sent Maitnence up to fix a light that they notices wasn’t working on the deck. I told him I wasn’t worried about the light on The deck as there was still 3 or 4 that still were working and the Ac wasn’t the bigger issue. They still went out to change the light and kinda funny they changed out one of the lights that were working and left the non working light as is. Then went into the main bathroom where there breaker panel was flipped a bunch of breaker and told me they made a few adjustments to the AC and to give it a while and everything should be fine. Thinking to myself unless breaker was tripped how can you make adjustments to the Ac units for the breaker panel???? So I gave them benefit of the doubt and we went out for supper. When we came back a hr or 2 later there was no change. Once again we had to fight again for a couple days to speak to MANAGEMENT so they could either get AC fixed of switch us again. They decided to switch us again to another room. Said they had to get ready as the room was blocked and need to get up to par before putting us in there. So we hung out in the beach for the day waiting to get into room. Took til about 5pm then they called us to come check out the room. We went and checked it out and I said right off the bat the room didn’t feel any different then the last bit once again they told us to wait a while and it would get better as the AC needed to cool down the room. The room never got any cooler that night. We let them know and nothing changed the remainder of our trip.Also once they switch us out of that diamond club building to this last room we notice turn down service wasn’t happening not a big issue but we pay heavily for diamond club service so it should be diamond club service We said upgrade us up to the chairman suite and that would make us happy. They came back with there is no chairman suites available which we knew was a lie as they were busy getting them perfect for the owners that are coming. We pretty much gave up complaining and just stayed In That room for remainder of trip. So out of a 2 week holiday we spent 10 out of the 14 days with no ac In hot uncomfortable rooms. Best part is every room they the switched us out off they put new people in the same day so instead of fixing the problem they just keep making more problems for themself. Not good MANAGEMENT on they’re behalf The They told us they would make up for it and we would be greatly compensated for all the issues. About 3 days before end of our stay the come to us and offered us 1 night free stay and I told them that was a joke considering most of our trip was filled with room issues and wasting days moving to different rooms. I told them after spending $150 ,000 there in the few years the only way the would see us back was a week free stay on our next visit. The day we were leaving there resident manager came to us upon check out and offed us 2 night free compensation. I told her that was not good enough. She kept insiting they next time we come to let her know and she would make sure everything would made sure was up to par before we get there. I asked her if she wasn’t listening and said we will never be back. It’s to bad as the royalton once was the nicest property in negril and we loved it there. The people there are amazing our butlers and cabana guy are exceptional and go above and beyond to try and make everything great for the clients but unfortunately they are set up for failure. We brought Jamaican family here to spend the day. They charges us full price for 2 a daily and 2 kids. Pretty much $500 bucks Canadian kids pool was closed down so the kids could not even use the pool declined them service at the diamond club bar even tho we as diamond club guest brought them here as our guess the wee promised that they would extend their stay until 8pm so we could have dinner. Ask there passed we’re only good from 10-6. Breakfast closes at 10 and supper don’t start till 6 so pretty much they get lunch and drinks from 10-6 for $500. Of course when it was time to head down for supper there was an issue (lack of communication on the MANAGMENT side of things once again. No one let anyone know about the extension so after about 40min or so of waiting and 4 different people running back and fourth between restraint mangers and hotel mangers we finally got in with about a hr to spend having supper before they had to leave. . They have major management issues there. When something goes wrong they tend to blame the employees or staff as it’s never managers fault. It’s totally managements fault this place has gone down hill. Over ther years we have made some good friends here so we ask a lot of questions and knows what goes on behind the scenes. They treat there people like garbage there modern day slavery if you ask me. The staff (employees) are barely allowed to drink the water on The resort. The amount of food that is thrown away is disgusting. I’m sure they can feed their staff everyday on the amount of food they throw away. They work for $2-3 per hr and are not appreciated one bit. These people should be treated fairly because they’re the ones why people keep coming back. They tell you gratuity’s included which is complete BS these employee rely heavily on tips so please due so. They are not the issue management is big time. So if you want an uncomfortable trip to negril stay at the royalton. I suggest you check out the new Princess grand or Azul or any other resort other than this one. Next trip we will be staying elsewhere that’s forsure.
