Don't Expect a 5 star resort experience. 3.5 stars at best.
We just returned from a week at Grand Palladium Jamaica. We truly enjoyed our vacation—great ocean views from our Suite Oceanfront Room (1231), huge clean pools, strong tasty drinks, and a friendly kids club (we only left our kids for short craft sessions of up to two hours). We swam a ton and made good memories. But the resort does not deliver the 5-star experience it advertises. Service & Maintenance • Air-conditioning never cooled below 77–78 °F despite being set to 70 °F; we called four times and no one ever came. • Mini-bar was never refilled—not even water—for six days; I finally stopped a staff member to get water and Coke Zero. • Power outages hit our building multiple times daily. A cleaner said that wasn’t normal, but it happened so often I doubt it. • On arrival, our crib and sofa-bed requests were ignored; it took two hours and multiple calls to get basic bedding. • Room issues: missing wall art, crookedly mounted TV, cracked and bubbling paint. • Jacuzzi tub wouldn’t drain; I had to fix it myself when no one came. Birthday Disappointment This trip was for my wife’s 30th birthday. At booking, in the pre-check-in questionnaire, and again at check-in, I requested something special for the day. The resort emailed “happy birthday” and said it was noted on our reservation, which led us to believe something would be arranged. Yet the day before her birthday Guest Relations had no record and said it was too late to plan anything. They promised balloons and cake at dinner, but none appeared—only a late, after-thought “Happy Birthday” song. Food & Drinks • À-la-carte restaurants were generally very good. The steakhouse, aside from undercooked steaks (order medium if you want medium-rare), served mid-grade steaks that were decent for an included restaurant. • Buffets were only average; the Xtra Time Bar buffet barely edible and the Blue Lagoon never opened for breakfast. • Bars frequently ran out of different types of alcohol. Service Culture & Operations • When we raised issues, staff were defensive and dismissive, even when we were polite. I was at the desk or on the phone two to three times a day because problems weren’t fixed after the first call. • Mid-week the resort sent a survey; I detailed our concerns and got a follow-up the day before we left asking how they could improve—far too late to matter. • Lobby/main hallways regularly had vendors pitching massages, hair braiding, or travel-club memberships—not aggressive, but every time we pas

Wonderful time
This was my 4th time at the hotel. Every thing about it is excellent. The food, cleanliness and people. A special shout out to Sherice Kerr who serves and takes care of you around the infinity pool. She is wonderful.
