    Excellent !

Spectacular hotel setting. The design creates a wind tunnel down the middle of the hotel which is amazing! We had the entry level suite with an ocean view which was beatiful. Staff and service was excellent! We look forward to returning to this hotel.

Okay stay in Playa del Carmen

Positives: * Great location in PdC (right on the main tourist drag) * Very nice pool areas * Right on the beach * Nice grounds. We liked the downward sweep from the lobby to the ocean. * Good and varied dining options (although expensive) * The staff was very helpful, especially when it came to switching rooms (see below) Negatives: * Our first room was so damp and musty that water was dripping down the walls and pooling on the floor. Apparently a lot of rooms have this problem. We were able to switch to a better room after the first night, but clearly the rooms are in need of updating. * Noisy every night we stayed there. Like, until after midnight. They don't seem to enforce quiet hours. The had a special event one night that didn't start until after 10pm. Bring earplugs if you are not a deep sleeper. * The facilities generally seems run down and in need of some TLC. We got a great deal and would probably go back for the same price, but I think otherwise there are probably better options in PdC.

Very average We will not go back.

The configuration of the hotel is "weird". It is built on a hill overlooking a beach. So, you spend time going up and down stairs or a pathway. After a week spent in our room, we have not been able to turn down the A/C (too cold). Same goes with the electrical system that is somewhat automatic, and it is difficult to have the right light in the right place. The restaurants, there are three: Mexican. The grill and Sushis. The food is average (we ate in two restaurants) and like some other guests at the hotel, we decided to eat out. The beach... There are still some seaweeds in the water. It is not as bad as few years ago in Playa del Carmen but still, the presence of seaweeds in the water is not ideal. The swimming pools are full of young kids... Not ideal for swimming... We will NOT go back to the Grand Hyatt in Playa del Carmen

    Hyatt no so grand!

Pool service SMH. Hospitality training needed. Broken furniture in the grand suite . Staff walks past garage and items in the hallways. The pool staff you have to chase them down. They are having way too many conversations and everyone at the pool is waiting.

Beautiful property, great location, awesome little town, avoid VIP Services at all costs

Beautiful hotel, great location, really nice rooms (when you get the room that you actually booked), but the check-in process was terrible given that they gave us a really terrible room to begin with, and their VIP Services concierge is really awful. VIP will try to book you into several “” free activities which will transport you magically to a high-pressure vacation club sales hellscape and three hours of your vacation go down the drain.
