Disappointing
This is the 5th time we, as a group, have been to The Decameron Montego Beach. 1st time since it was taken over by Wyndham. We like the small feel to the resort and how close it is the airport and the Hip Strip. Sorry to say that the resort is definitely in major need of investment and staff training. Zoey - Fitzroy and Lanford are great. Rest of the staff not so good. We loved the resort in the past but unless Wyndham invest and upgrade the rooms it may be the last time we go. It's a shame because we have such good memories. The Good Closeness to airport. Closeness to Hip Strip. Small resort. Ability to go between both resorts. Clean. The Bad Needs refurbishment. Music at pool is loud & seems to be played for the enjoyment of the pool bar staff not the guests. Karaoke during dinner at the Cornwall resort so loud and distracting we could not have a conversation. Max 2 star. Slow check in.

Meh...
I have been to this property many times, and it needs significant updating. A refurbishment of the rooms has started, but the workmanship is poor, and the furniture is cheap. The bathrooms are in desperate need of a rebuild. The gym is close to useless, with broken equipment. It is also shared with the sister resort Cornwall Beach. The food is basic and nothing special since the restaurant options are limited. This is not a huge resort like those found in Jamaica. The staff is OK. The pools and bars are fine. The beach is exceptional. Despite four floors, there is no elevator. I believe it went out of service five years ago. The hotel is a five-minute drive from the airport or a less than a mile walk. This would be a budget resort—a Days Inn of Resorts, so price-wise, the savings are enormous compared to the more upscale properties. If you want 4+ starts, go elsewhere. If you want luxury, go to Oyster Bay. If you wish to save money, go to Decameron Montego Bay. If you wish for a more updated property, book next door at Decameron Cornwall Beach for $20 a night.

Worst Travel Experience Ever
This is a formal complaint and overview of my arrival in Montego Bay and for a week’s vacation at the Grand Decameron Resort in Montego Bay Jamaica, where my wife and I stayed from February 2 to 9, 2025. First the Pros: 1. Our room was 12A, which was very close to the ocean and small beach. The view and access to the ocean and beach was excellent; 2. The weather was as expected, excellent throughout; 3. All of the beaches were ok and well monitored; 4. Management was very sympathetic to our plight and advised that we should have informed them sooner and another room would have been provided; however, to be fair, we only discussed our displeasure on the day of our departure. Cons: 1. A one and half hour (1.5 hr.) wait at the airport for transportation to the resort, with no refreshments; 2. On arrival to the resort we were taken to the wrong location (next door) and had to walk with our luggage to the correct neighbouring building; 3. There was no orientation provided upon arrival after checking in; 4. While there were a few bright spots with some individual servers, the overall service was substandard; 5. There was constant noise above our room throughout our stay (akin to someone dragging furniture on the floor). When complained to the front desk, the response was “NOTED”! Nothing was ever done nor anyone sent to see if the issue was resolved; 6. There were no closets nor hangers to hang clothes. 7. The overflow valve are for the bathroom sing had an unsightly residue around it. We asked that be cleaned and nothing was done; 8. Finally when asked for a valet person to take our luggage to the front desk to wait for our transportation to the airport, we were told that it was a Sunday and that the valet person does not work on a Sunday. Therefore, there is no assistance available. We would have to do it ourselves (which we did). 9. The food choices presentation and service at the both Ala Cart dining places were very substandard. No table coverings, long wait and choice of dishes being the same as the main dining halls. We checked both dining halls before we went to the Ala Cart dining areas, to see if the meal choices were special. In our view, the main dining hall choices were much better as there were more choice of dishes. In addition, we arrived 20 minutes early for our seating time and was told that we have to come back at the time of our reservation, when t was clear to us that the presenting seating in the Ala cart dining area was not even half full and could have easily accommodated us, instead of sending us away. We could have been offered to sit at one of the vacant tables and offered some refreshments until our allotted time instead of being turned away. 10. As seasoned regular travellers who have visited many other destinations in Canada, the USA and other places around the world (to many to list) we were very disappointed with our stay. Much needs to be improved. 11. Finally, on my first swim in the ocean on February 3, 2025, I stepped on a sea urchin with my water shoes and the spines went through the shoe and into my foot which I had to get medical treatment. The nurse at the first-aid station was very accommodating and I was referred to the private hospital “Hospiten”. My experience at this hospital was extremely disappointing, not for the medical service provided, but for the unethical and unscrupulous financial and billing practices. This will be outlined separately in a different correspondence. 12. The following are picture of the inside of Room 12A at the Grand Decameron resort, in Montego Bay, Jamaica.

This place has potential but overall it is still about a two star resort
The walls have dead mosquitoes that people kill on it. The tub is so dirty. You cannot step in without shoes. The kitchen staff are horrible. Two days in a row I went without coffee because no one assisted. Most of them have an attitude. Entertainment staff was great. The liquor is so watered down that even the white wine looks like water. You will not get a buzz at this resort at all so please bring your own alcohol, your own washcloth and towels, and some snacks.

Nice getaway
The resort was small, perfect for us. Rooms need updated. Buffet could be expanded. Grounds/location very nice! Servers hit or miss. Orlando Kemar & Sharika were super! Front desk very helpful. Had a personal escort when shopping outside resort. SOUK was delicious!
