Watch your towels always
We are here now and have visited the resort before. We travel to the area every year. This is the first time we agree we will not return to a resort. Often when there is an issue no one says anything and the management doesn't have the opportunity to make it right, but not in this case. Getting chairs at the pool is tough and you need to be out early. Today my husband found us 3 chairs and his butt was in one up to when we went for a late breakfast. While we were gone 2 ladies tossed 2 of our towels over and set up. On arriving back he tried to explain but they seemed to speak only Spanish. He informed the lifeguard to get help, management was called in, he explained, they said they checked cameras and he was gone 40 minutes so it was fine. The ladies stayed. Two other Canadians were leaving and gave us their seats so we are now 2 in one area and 1 by the older ladies. Management came by and spoke to them again but still no change. I understand the abandoned seat thing, if it was enforced by staff, but it's not, even so, 40 minutes to eat?? Management needs to actually address issues. Now I'm afraid to leave my towel to go to the washroom, if it's taken I have to pay for it. Other details, beds very firm, small not good pillows but lots of them. Food is average except for Mexican buffet on Thursday night. Pico de gallo is hard to find and has had either cucumber or carrot in it. Would I come back, no. Would I recommend, also no, there are more secure places down the beach.

Exceeded our expectations !!!
This is the 4th time we've been to this resort, and we were pleasantly impressed during our 2 week stay. First off, the Staff are still amazing, with special cudos to Ana (maid), Anselmo (Piccolo), Maba (beach bar) anf Angel (building 5 bar). Booking the ala carte restaurants online at 8am was a breeze, with the Piccolo being our favorite. Try the salmon or chicken there !! Bar service was very good, with happy bartenders and lotsa smiles. We put in a building/floor request online 4 days before we arrived, and received the building and floor we requested. Maid service was excellent, with Ana even bringing us 2 'foamy's' for an extra soft bed, and also fresh towels and face cloths daily. Wifi access in Building 5 for us was really good, especially on the balcony. Even the buffet food was way better than we remembered, as there was always some veggies, meat, fish and a decent salad bar with lots of guacamole ! The chairs and Pilapa's at beach and pool were usually all taken by 7:30am, so if you want shade and like to sleep in, you will be outta luck for shade. Improvements needed at the resort are 1) room updates, with the bathrooms needing new shower area, tiles, and even doors rotting away. 2) Resort has to stop guests from hand-feeding the iguana's inside the Tropical Buffet. The best thing about this resort is the relaxed vibe and friendly guests. Have stayed at 5 other resorts close by and NO OTHER has the cool, friendly vibe that the Grand Decameron does. So, for a great price and awesome vibes, this is the place to do and we will be back soon !!

Terrible
DO NOT RECOMMEND. Food is terrible. Each buffet has the same food, which is bland, dry, and overall gross. The rooms were very dated without hot water. The beds were very uncomfortable along with the pillows. The adult side of the pool was for elderly adults, with no music and asked to be quiet if you are too loud. Yet, there was a nightclub that played music until midnight. The drinks were very poor. The house tequila was Jose Cuervo. There is no beachside or poolside service for food or drinks. To eat at the restaurants you had to scan a QR code and book by 8 a.m. You can only eat at 6:00 pm, 7:30 pm, or 9:00 pm. Each guest at the resort, had something negative to say. I would never come here again - not worth my time or MONEY.

Budget friendly but disappointing
As I sit here in day 5 of our trip I understand why this all inclusive resort is so cheap. The drinks are not good. Under the bottom shelf liquor. There is no fruit or fresh ingredients for the drinks. We had to go to the buffets and get limes. For the fruit flavors the bars use syrups. Disgusting! Beer is terrible. Its never the same. I believe they must hook up whatever keg they have at the time. The fridge in the rooms is tiny. Rooms are only stocked with 1 bottle of water. If you want alcohol in your room, you will have to go buy it at an OXXO or grocery store. Both are just up the street. The coffee situation in the morning is odd. There is 1 pot for the whole resort. It goes fast. They must only have 1 pot because when its empty they take it and a person has to wait until its brought back. Somedays powdered creamer. Somedays milk and sugar. Somedays the coffee is good. Somedays the coffee is acid. The food is ok. The buffet food is not good. Tasteless and over cooked. The a la carte restaurants were decent. We managed to find enough food we liked. We ate off the resort and it was much much better. There is a taco shop 2 blocks away. Best $1 tacos we have ever had. And downtown Bucieras has much better food. The online reservations for the a la carte restaurants doesnt work. You have to wait in line at a desk to get a reservation. This resort is in desperate need of a makeover. Everything is old and falling apart. It is clean. This is the first resort we have been to that is not constantly making updates. It is a very quiet resort. Each Block has its own pool and bar. No swim up bar. No wait staff walking around. There is no party or poolside entertainment. Not a spring break type place. Although some entertainment would be nice. The pool/beach chair situation is craziness. There is not enough chairs for all the guests. People save chairs and never sit in them or leave after 20 mins and not come back to their chair. People are saving chairs at 5-6 am. The lifeguards will randomly take peoples things and open the chairs up, even when we told them there were people ising them. If you need a budget resort this is the spot. We have stayed in Playa del Carmen and PV many times and this is the most dissatisfying resort we have been to.
