    We ❤️ El Cozumeleno!!!

We Loved El Cozumeleno! I want to start off by saying the reviews are all over the place of this resort. We did our research and knew what we were getting into for our 8 day stay. We were looking for decent food, friendly service, and an amazing Beach with turquoise water. Snorkeling was just steps away. El Cozumeleno definitely met all of our needs. Check in was a breeze. We were greeted with cocktails and Federico took care of us with getting our luggage to our room. We settled into our room, which was clean and big, the AC worked well, there were even a few nights that we got chilly! The furniture was dated and the bed was too, but we were literally in there to sleep. The shower never got super hot, but it was warm enough and after being out in the sun all day it actually felt good. The balcony and the views were incredible. Buffet was okay, fresh homemade omelettes were delicious. My only complaint was the birds in the buffet area during the day. Those winged bandits would find their way through the netting around the buffet but we always cautioned folks not to leave their tables unattended. You can make unlimited dinner reservations while you are there. Just go to the concierge desk at 8:00 am. The food in The Veranda was so good! You can walk in and eat breakfast every morning without a reservation. You can also scan the QR code to pull up the menu and order off of the menu several things that were not offered at the buffet to mix it up. They make smoothies, delicious cappuccino's, mimosas and bloody Marys. All of the drinks that came from the bar were very good and if you feel like you need an extra shot just ask for it! We appreciated the cold water stations flavored with fresh fruit and cucumber. There were a lot of activities going on that were included as well. We took a super fun bike ride/tour with Leo one morning. he took us along the road where we saw many private homes, condos and resorts and even small beach areas that the locals frequent. We snorkeled twice with Cesar who walked us down to the Westin where we got into the water and floated back with the current to the resort. We saw varieties of beautiful fish as well as stingrays and barracudas. Cesar was so fun and informative all the while checking with us if we were safe and okay. Later one afternoon we did a painting class with him. Make sure to check the activities board by the pool. We loved the beach, and not so much into the pool, which was murky on some days, but they were constantly working on it. The swim up bar was not open, but that didn't bother us at all. Not our thing. The bars and food close up early around 10:30-11pm. Everything pretty much closed up by 11pm which once again we were fine with because we are early risers. And the staff, WOW! They took incredible care of us, we really felt pampered. I want to give some shout outs, and I'm sure I'm missing some because everyone was wonderful! Both Carlo's, Manuel, Pedro, German, Eyahir, Miguel, Martha, and Julieta, the sales manager who we had a long conversation with. We met so many amazing people on this trip from all over the country, and some whom have been going for many years to El Coz. Made great memories and friends from Canada. This is going to be our go-to place, one of our homes away from home. Adios, and see you soon El Cozumeleno!!

    Wonderful food and service

The Resort is an older hotel but the staff, the food and the service made up for it. Miguel Bates was wonderful to me and my kids. The drinks were well served by Pedro and the entertainment was great. Overall the staff was amazing. I would return.

    Quiet resort! Perfect for relaxing

Resort was very quiet which we enjoyed. Access to the beach was amazing, I recommend getting there before 10am to snag a shaded hut with your towel! Drinks were okay, we mostly drank beer. Food was meh, we were glad to have had a rental car to go into town and get occasional meals. We really only wished the food had been better and there was a bigger selection.
