What We Love

  • With cascading waterfalls, rock formations, tropical plants and water slides, the enormous pool at this resort is a ton of fun for kids and adults.
  • There's something for everyone, from golf and sport fishing to a kid's club and great pool. This resort is a perfect base for your adventures.
  • Keep your palate guessing with full access to three onsite restaurants.

Things to Know

  • The resort is only 30 minutes away from Mazatlan airport.
  • Maximize your vacay hours by checking pick-up times on scheduled transfers.
  • Onsite activities are perfectly suited for adults and families.
Looking for a resort with everything? Then look no further than this all-inclusive resort in Mazatlan. Boasting a championship, 27-hole golf course and a 120-vessel marina at a sister resort, the hotel opens the door to adventure. For lazier days, lounging on the beach as the sun sets behind nearby islands might be just what the doctor ordered, and for the days you simply want to be pampered, aromatherapy and herbal wraps await you at the full-service spa.

Kids love the water slides in the pool, but it's the cascading waterfalls, rock formations and tropical plants that charm parents. Widely regarded as Mexico's largest infinity pool, the pool is just the place to soak up the lavish warmth of Mazatlan's sun. While there, be sure to quench your thirst with a lava flow or Mai Tai at the swim-up bar. If that's not enough, you can check out the pools at the sister resorts!

One vacation won't be enough time to try everything at this beach hotel. Mazatlan, the "Pearl of the Pacific," lays claim to some of the best sport fishing in the Americas, and charter crews operate from the El Cid Marina Beach. Save a day or two for diving, snorkeling or simply sailing.

The resort's five restaurants provide plenty of choices, and the dinner show at La Pergola is sure to intrigue. The distinctive mariachi blend of trumpet, classical guitar and violin stirs the soul, even as whirling dancers in traditional costumes mesmerize. Mexican Fiesta is just one of the shows offered at the dinner theater. Each night is different, with Broadway musicals, like Cats and Evita, as well as a Fantasy Show with black light special effects.

After an action-packed day, retreat to an Ocean View Room and spend time enjoying the stunning pool and sea vistas from a private balcony. Lounge on the couch in the living room, or rest comfortably on the plush bed. After all, another day of adventure awaits.

El Cid Granada: relaxing, entertaining, memorable sun vacation

My wife and I stayed two weeks at the El Cid Granada Hotel in October/November 2024.   The resort was a very pleasant surprise, especially after having read a number of negative reviews before making our reservation. If you are unsure about choosing El Cid Granada, take those negative reviews with a grain of salt. El Cid Granada makes for a relaxing, entertaining, memorable sun vacation. We plan to return next year.  In short: Service: Excellent. Staff: Friendly, welcoming, professional. Front Desk staff, especially, are extremely helpful and friendly.  Special thank you to Daniel. Property: Well maintained, pleasant to walk. Rooms: Spacious, clean, excellent A/C. Restaurant La Pergola in El Cid Castilla was our favorite place to eat. The food is very good: quality, presentation, and variety. Staff are super  friendly and welcoming and the service is attentive. Special thank you to Victor for being so helpful and accomodating with my wife's dietary restrictions.  Nightly entertainment is always fun and it is obvious that a great deal of time and effort goes into planning and delivery. All performers are very, very good. Mariana stands out for her stage presence and poise.  Francesco is an amazingly talented juggler and his quirky dance moves never failed to makes us laugh. One aspect of our vacation was at times frustrating: the beach.  The beach itself is pretty, offers amazing sunsets, and is clean. But, there are not nearly enough beach chairs and palapas for shade. How can 3 hotels only make 17 palapas available?!  The shortage is so obvious that beach vendors have stepped in to fill the glaring gap by charging 200 to 300 pesos per day to rent a couple of (very uncomfortable) plastic chairs and beach umbrella to hotel guests.  The incomprehensible palapa and beach chair shortage is made much worse by entitled (mostly Canadian and American) tourists who think it is just fine to place towels on beach chairs to "reserve" them first thing in the morning. Most of these individuals don't end up using "their" palapas and chairs for several hours.  In the meantime, other guests, including families with babies and elderly guests, roam the beach loking for non-existent chairs and no palapas -  just so someone's towels or sandals can relax on the beach for hours. Others feel entitled to not only "reserve" chairs for themselves but also claim one or two more for their bags, purse, and hats. Yes, I am talking about supposedly mature adults. Mind boggling how - even on vacation - some people can be so selfish and inconsiderate. Unfortunately, the resorts do next to nothing to discourage the behavior, even though at any one time a quarter of palapas and chairs can be seen "reserved" and unused. This was our first time in Mazatlan and we ventured into the centre of town and found it safe, pleasant to walk, rich in history, and full of helpful, friendly people.  We plan to return to El Cid Granada next year.

The staff is amazing!! This week we come to celebrate my birthday and the housekeeping staff went above and beyond to make it special! Karina housekeeping supervisor did an amazing job in decorating! Manuela our housekeeper is so friendly and always does an amazing job in making it feel like home. Luisa is amazing she does turndown service at night. Delina the General manager for housekeeping is every attentive to the guest needs and delegates very well. Daniel the general manager for the hotel always stops by to check that everything is going well with stay. The staff in general makes sure to remember to say hello and recognize you for a special event. I must say that they sure do know how to make your day special. The elite club staff made sure I received a special bday cake in our room!! Big thank you to a great experience!

    Feels like home

Overall everything was great! The housekeeping staff are very friendly and attentive. They do an amazing job in making us feel at home. We travel with a 6 year old and count on the kids club! The ladies are so friendly so good with our little one. The afternoon activities have been so much fun. One of my favorite was the cake decorating and the ceramic painting that makes a great souvenir

    Good

The hotel was conveniently located. Ther eis a private beach for hotel guests. We could always find a spot on the beach chairs. The food was great, the onky problem we had was the loud music that starts around 4pm. I believe it is their heritage music, however, I prefer to sleep and relax in the afternoon. Those people who are familiar with that type of music really enjoyed it. I would just move to the pool area as it was too noisy for me. Also, lots of wind. I personally prefer other parts of Mexico over Mazatlan.

    Third visit

This is our third visit to this hotel. Rooms are clean and spacious albeit somewhat dated. The use of the two sister hotels is definitely a bonus. Food at the a la cartes is good with the Argentinian being the best followed by the Italian and Mexican restaurants. For breakfast the El Patio restaurant is perfect. Letecia and her staff do a great job of taking care of your needs and have fun while doing it. One sticking point is the $15/day fee charged at checkin. We were not informed of that until checkin. What is this fee for? Why is it not included in the price of the booking? This fee should be reviewed by the El Cid group and/or handled in a different manner. This may be a factor when considering future accommodations. I'd be interested in hearing from a hotel rep why this fee is in place.
